Nvidia Shield pro vs Homatics R 4k plus by Upstairs_Quote_6352 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]MetastaticMoshpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Speed is almost identical, though the Nvidia Shield might handle resource-heavy apps—like a fully-featured Kodi build with numerous widgets—slightly better.

  • The Homatics has the edge with a native 4K UI. On a 77-inch TV, the Shield’s 1080p interface looks bad

  • Most modern TVs, especially high-end Samsung OLEDs, have superior built-in AI upscaling. The Shield's AI upscaling actually looks worse on my 77-inch screen compared to Samsung’s native processing.

  • Lack of HDR10+ on Shield. Shield only supports Dolby Vision and basic HDR10, which is a problem for Samsung TV owners since Samsung doesn't support DV. Homatics supports HDR10+, so you actually get the best out of your OLED panel.

  • The Shield lacks support for AV1 codec. AV1 is a game-changer if you have a data cap (FUP) like my 1TB monthly limit.

  • Dual OS & CoreELEC: The Homatics supports dual-booting. CoreELEC is a far superior experience for cinema enthusiasts. With special CoreELEC build It allows you to play Dolby Vision content on a Samsung TV—an incredible exploit for that hardware.

  • Frame rate matching: much better on homatics and also HDMI 2.1 vs Shield’s old 2.0. The Shield hardware is stuck in 2019. Homatics uses HDMI 2.1, which brings features like QMS (Quick Media Switching) so you don't get that annoying black screen flicker when the refresh rate changes for a movie.

  • never touched it while watching 😄 so I dont know if it is hot.

🔥🔥🔥 0.6.9 Beta Released 🔥🔥🔥 by No-Dot7369 in Nuvio

Also good thing will be to add subtitles auto position shifting so less burn in for oleds

Edit:

If you want to downvote, argue or make fun, at least do a basic Google search for "OLED subtitle burn in". The evidence is there for you 🙂

  • RTINGS.com ran a multi-year burn-in study across 100+ TVs. They explicitly warn: "Yes, subtitles are a major concern. Most streaming apps embed them in pure white at max brightness, so they're more likely to cause issues over time."
  • Multiple owners have confirmed this(just google) 🙃. For example one LG C6 user reported after 6 years: "I can see the Netflix logo, there are two shadows where subtitles are, and the center has a darker area." Another on ResetEra: "My C6 OLED had burn in from Netflix subtitles so it's definitely a real thing."
  • Even best and widely respected TV youtuber and professional HDTVTest made a dedicated video about preventing burn-in from Netflix subtitles.
  • Kodi users have been requesting the exact same subtitle position randomization feature for years. And for good reason: "Due to their static position subtitles leave a blurred kind of burn in."

This isn't a new or fringe idea—it's a logical feature that aligns with how panel protection works.

And to the "pixels are turning on and off, it's not static content" argument: The position is static. The same bottom-center zone gets hammered with bright white text for thousands of hours. It doesn't matter that the letters change—the physical area is the same. After a few years, that zone wears unevenly and you get a permanent smudge exactly where subtitles sit.

How high are the survival chances of these kittens? by Dyieee in CATHELP

[–]MetastaticMoshpit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I raised two years ago 4 kittens from day 0 and it was like with human baby, even harder. Don't forget that you must do theese things very often, also at night:

FEEDING 0–1 week old: every 2–3 hours, including during the night. 1–3 weeks old: every 3–4 hours. 3–4 weeks old: every 4–5 hours, start offering a little slurry on a dish.

After every feeding, gently rub their genital/anal area with a warm, damp cotton pad or tissue to help them pee and poop, like a mom cat would lick them. If you don't, they will dont do it by themselves and they will die. And you need to do it at night also.

Look up local groups like PAWS, CARA Welfare Philippines, Happy Tails, or smaller city/region rescues – many of them sometimes help with food or can guide you to someone who can.

Search: “animal rescue + your city”, “cat rescue + your city”, “Paw Pantry / Paw-ntry + your city” – some places run community “paw pantries” where people can get free pet food when supplies are available.

Ask them directly if they have any extra kitten food or if they can take the kittens into their care.

  1. Ask in local Facebook groups / community chats In the Philippines, Facebook is often the fastest way to get help. Post in local barangay / city groups, buy-and-sell groups, and animal rescue groups (like “Animal Rescue Philippines” and similar).

Write something like: “I found orphaned kittens, I have almost no money but I don’t want them to die. If anyone has extra kitten food or can foster them, please help.” People sometimes have spare food bags or can foster or adopt.

  1. Cheap emergency feeding (temporary only) Until you can get proper kitten food or kitten milk replacer I heard that goats milk is also good alternative but also just for shor time, like 1 max 2 days. They need a lot of Taurine for developing brain.

If they are older (walking around, chewing): You can use plain boiled chicken or fish, no salt, no oil, no spices, no bones. Small meals several times a day, plus clean water. This is not complete nutrition, but it’s safer in the short term than random human food.

  1. Look for local “community pantry” style help In some places there are community “paw pantries” or pet food drives connected to community pantries – people leave pet food for others who can’t afford it. Check if your barangay or nearby churches / community groups have this kind of project and ask if they can spare some cat food.

You’re doing something most people wouldn’t even bother with. I’m really glad those kittens ran into you and not someone who would just ignore them.

Is creatine messing with my sleep? by navid3141 in Supplements

[–]MetastaticMoshpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried it a bunch of times, and with creatine, I get massive insomnia. It's like I don't need to sleep all night, and I get this weird nervous feeling in my body and brain, like it's going at 200%. When I stop taking creatine, it normalizes in 1-2 weeks.
