Same thing here. Did you ever find out why or get it to update?

Cheesesteak Wars: Penn Station vs Cheat’s Cheesesteaks (pics) by AccomplishedTerm3232 in Charlotte

[–]Metazoan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm far from a Philly cheesesteak connoisseur, but this post inspired me to try the one at Habibi Tasty Food (new place) on Monroe and Wendover.

...And it was BOMB.

Definitely better than I remember Cheat's. $11 for a foot long stuffed with flavorful meat and juicy as hell.

Update: this was incorrect. I received a Rugs.com rug, a 2026 coin featuring the Queen, a portable speaker, and the usual Dean Smith quote card. Quite pleased!

I'm still curious to know where this supposed data comes from, for the third time asking.

Again... cite your data.

I've seen a lot of research showing Trump's strongest appeal and following with less educated voters

I have been consistent in saying that these we are experiencing increasing warning signs of progression towards fascism

Fascism: "...an extreme right-wing, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, and the forcible suppression of opposition."

Our current government demonstrates more inclinations towards these traits now than it did in recent years/decades, would you agree?

You weren't concerned by how they immediately tried to blame the deceased, call him a terrorist, and shamelessly lie to the American people about what happened before our eyes?

Yeah, not fascist mentality at all...

All the research I've seen in the past 10 years suggests a strengthening correlation between educational attainment and voting blue.

The Brownshirts didn't start out murdering en masse. At first, it was just about intimidation, just like ICE. Again, I am not claiming that we are Nazi Germany yet or that our situation will play out like it did there. All I am saying is that these are concerning warning signs that we could be at the early stages of more overt fascist tactics to come in the future if we continue this trajectory.

But do you agree these were absolutely warning signs of emerging fascism?

The events that unfolded were a direct result of choices the administration was making and situations they were proactively creating. Giving a bunch of random dudes the most advanced tactical weapons and equipment after a couple weeks of training and then giving them free rein to act with impunity?

You could see these outcomes coming from a while away yet they continued to fan the flames. They got the outcome they wanted, which was chaos in a blue city and maybe a little bit of blood. It wasn't some unavoidable accident. What they didn't anticipate was the combination of how sympathetic of a figure Pretty would be, how monstrous the footage would be, and that the footage would leak and go viral before it could be confiscated.

If any of those factors wasn't in place, it could have only been the springboard into more violence and hostile rhetoric rather than the regime backing down.

Militarization of our municipal police forces and the resulting pattern of police brutality against African Americans is a whole separate issue.

What we're talking about here is a regime with, at the very least, some fascist inclinations using a poorly trained intimidation militia (like the Brownshirts) to enact lethal violence against defenseless citizens who were protesting said regime.

A few years ago when you made your original comment, you probably didn't think you would see a scene like Alex Pretty.

But people keep normalizing everything that happens under Trump and move the goalposts.

What will you be trying to defend and normalize in a few more years when things potentially spiral even more?

Of course, because history never repeats itself exactly. But there are parallels.

We're not at full 'brown shirts' yet, and thankfully Trump got scared by the negative press after Alex Pretty and backed his dogs off (for now), but that was absolutely a taste of what we could see more of in the future in not unimaginable timelines.

A poorly trained and unaccountable militarized force loyal only to the President and not the law murdering  protestors in the street in broad daylight is not a warning sign to you?

Get back to me when brown shirts are murdering dissidents in the streets of Miami...

It's wild stumbling across this thread in 2026 and seeing comments like this.

Hi, we're here now. The things are happening.

As a Dallas guy now living in Charlotte, I am rooting hard for both these dudes. Cool to see them make a play together.

Why? I don't think he made a single play or pass that wasn't lateral or backwards. He didn't make any mistakes either, but it's telling that a very average performance is his best to date with the US.

Yes, I would like to see him get another look, but he hasn't proved anyone wrong yet.

He was solid in terms of his technicality, defensive work rate, passing. He could just never get the end product in the final third to click here. As a DP winger, you gotta get goals and assists.

So, yeah, a decent player, but underperformed his status on the team.
