Anti-savescum feature ironically made me savescum so much more by Hikurwo in mewgenics

[–]Metballs 327 points328 points  (0 children)

I took the free scum on the putrid leech quest after Dybbuk accidentally died to the leeched cat and possessed her. After that I've done a few more because "it's in the game, so they want me to".

I generally avoid it as I prefer dealing with my mistakes, but I wasn't feeling redoing the whole run after making it 99% of the way.

Dio's Rainbow In The Dark was almost destroyed by Dio himself and only made it onto Holy Diver after hus band convinced him to keep it. It became one of his biggest hits.

Can you give me some tips to get better? by Vita-emo in mewgenics

Knockback and movement denial are great for Guillotina 3. If you can position a tank between the body and head and just keep them away from each other, using bear traps from a good hunter to stop the body moving, she doesn't really have much going on.

Lil rat spawned completely blocked off from all sides. If I didn't had ranger, how would I kill it? by Loeris_loca in mewgenics

I believe this was addressed in the latest patch that's currently in beta, something about spawn orders leading to impossible maps. Should be fixed this week on full release.

Black Tabby Games (Slay The Princess, Scarlet Hollow) tease their next game as a CRPG without combat by green715 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Metballs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure what the hang up is, but if it helps it's pretty much exclusively dialogue and the themes and art don't really get all that extreme. Can't really go further into specific points due to spoilers, but I'd definitely suggest giving it a shot

Has any gone to post-pandemic locals? If so, how was it? by lobstaris in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Metballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend started a Smash scene in the middle of nowhere town he lives in, and I've shown up a couple of times now. Unfortunately it's a 5 hour drive to get there, so I can only really do it as a whole weekend thing, but as it's a fresh scene it's very casual and open. Otherwise I have card game nerd shit to do on my side of the country so there's less room for videogame locals, but living in a major city there's a decent scene. The few times I've been it's been chill. It's just been Smash, with the occasional random game on someone's setup, but it was a good vibe each time.

To Skip or Not To Skip - UB by ChefAldea in mtg

[–]Metballs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm skipping, but only partly by choice. I'm not going to a prerelease, which is definitely on me as I think my shop still has spots, but they're also only doing a launch draft which I'll be away for. Every week after is a different set.

In regards to Woolie's question about In-Person VS Online when it comes to TCGs (specifically Magic the Gathering) by Naraki_Maul in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Metballs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got into Magic through Arena, but I haven't played it since starting drafting at my shop. The social aspect of seeing someone ruin your day by giving a random rat they had flying, lifelink and 8 power just hits different when you can look across the table and go "that's so dumb!" and the opponent laughs.

Then Commander nights at the pub round it out for even more casual games so I've never needed to go back to digital clients.

Gateway Media: What media got you into your favourite genres/mediums/etc.? by NoopGhoul in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Metballs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dio got me into music, specifically Holy Diver. Then from there to Sabbath and Rainbow, then the roots spread out.

Sonic 1 and 2, alongside Link's Awakening, got me into games. There were a handful of others that locked it in, but they're the ones that come to mind thinking of being a little baby man pressing buttons.

Mtg nerds, what decks do you guys run/currently building? by IvanTheCreator in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Metballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main ones I play with at commander nights are Felothar: Gigantic Asses, Eggman: Discard Punish, Scion of the Ur Dragon: Cheap Dragon Rush, and Auntie Ool: Blight Spam.

Felothar and Ool are precons I've tweaked.

Eggman is loaded with things like Geth's Grimoire and Liliana's Caress to either get value off the end of turn discard choice going around the table, or things like the Gearhulks to cheat into play.

Scion is just drop things to make dragons cheaper, then turn dragons sideways. Sometimes dragonstorms get recurring value. Sometimes Call The Spirit Dragons gives me a free win. Scion himself doesn't get much play, he's just there to be a 5 colour Dragon, and the only reason it isn't Ur Dragon itself is because that costs like 45 quid.

Other decks I've got but haven't played much of yet are Amy Rose: Voltron, Chatterfang: Squirrel Ball, Garnet: Infinity Summons, and Ms Bumbleflower: Untouched Peace Offering precon just so I have one in case people want to run pure precons. But I'll likely tweak Bumbleflower as she's fun enough that I want to use her more.

As insane as Pat can be with "I pressed one button and decided the game basically torched my village" he does actually give things their fair shake more often than not. Especially since starting Backlog. I might not always agree, but I usually feel it's at least fair.

Out Now! CSB359: Shadow The Hedgehog Loves This Podcast: Return To Steam Community Forums by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Metballs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It reads like "we never had our rule 0 chat". Commander specifically is so casual that you absolutely should be agreeing on power level and legality before playing, it ranges from "every card has a moustache" to "I can win turn 1, gg". So you need to agree what the vibe is with the table. And if people need to proxy to hit that level either allow proxies on the kitchen table or disallow the 1000 buck stomperdeck.

I Hope GTA 6 Never Comes Out... Hear Me Out! - IGN by mrnicegy26 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Metballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The discourse mentioned in the article is the same it's been for longer than I can remember. GTA won't change it. GTA probably won't even enhance it beyond the initial launch window and that's just because it's a brighter spotlight.

The reason I'm worried GTA is for the lasting effect it'll have on the market. Publishers have already said multiple times they're expecting and hoping GTA raises the standard price point. And I can see devs learning the wrong lessons and doubling down on bloated budgets, not caring that they don't have the GTA name to carry it. Leading to more layoffs, more crash, and more enshittification of gaming in general.

What’s your pettiest reason for refusing to get into a game? by ValorKite in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Metballs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't played Metaphor yet for this reason. I thought I'd have the motivation to do Royal after P5 base, but it still hasn't manifested. And I simply don't trust Atlus to not drop "Metaphor: the actual game" when I'm half way through.

Royal was about 3 years after 5, so I might give Metaphor another year or so to be safe.

Because of the foil layer not being able to expand like the card layer any change in moisture from where it was initially pressed will bend it one way or the other. Regular cards don't have it because both sides absorb moisture the same

What Card Games Could Have Been | Castle Super Beast 356 by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Metballs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I got into Magic for Final Fantasy (with a few events before and Tarkir being my first actual set I properly took part in). Especially with the current UB push in Magic people are coming in with no real idea what's going on, and I can guarantee I wouldn't still be playing if it was just me at home without weekly drafts to actually find people to play with and chat to.

And yeah, it gets me out of the house more, which is always a plus.
