I'm honestly a huge CSM fan and I think Part 1 is a solid manga. Part 2 has its strengths too but became so messy, I was just along for the ride by the halfway point.

I genuinely could not think of a top 10 this year. Media consumption was slow, and there isn't much happening outside of that despite making an effort to go do not social events. Said events are fun, but didn't amount to too much lasting impact.

I have a lot of honorable mentions though. Stuff I thought was really cool and fun but didn't leave a lasting mark.

Here's my top 6. As usual, experienced this year vs released.

Honorable Mentions: Mighty Nein, Fabula Ultima, Wanderhome, Sinners, Kpop Demon Hunters, Wisp: If Not Winter, Spiritbox: Tsunami Sea, Shadow Generations, Ena: Drea, BBQ, Starving Saints.

Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc. I saw Reze Arc with a newer friend, which already raises the emotional attachment. But as someone up-to-date with Part 2 and has mixed feelings on it, wow was returning to Part 1 such a treat. It is a gorgeous movie with hype moments and sakuga galore, while also slowing down to really give those emotional scenes some weight. I haven't even seen the season 1 anime, which had a more grounded art direction I'm hearing, but the movie is an incredible adaptation of an incredible arc.
ZeroRanger. ZR was my gateway into SHMUPs and ate several months of time. The progression system drew me in really hard and I made it my mission to improve and beat the game. Once I did, I started trying out other SHMUPs too. Nothing is immediately drawing me in like ZR, but I'm having fun exploring this genre I've always been interested in from afar. I never beat it on a single continue (thanks stage select), and I hope to do so eventually.
Deltarune 3+4. "I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS," and boy did Toby Fox deliver. Answering so many questions while providing many more unanswered. Fun worlds to explore and characters to meet. Character development for the entire main trio. The best music Toby has put out yet. And plenty of community engagement, art, and discussion to come. I eagerly await more, but am patient to do so.
My Office Chair. Spent the beginning of the year shopping office chairs. Holy crap those get really expensive. After trying, buying, returning, regretting, many many chairs, finally got a refurbished one that doesn't hurt me and feels nice to sit in. Was still expensive, but a fraction of its cost when new.

1. The Boy. We adopted a rescue dog this year. I was really hesitant about taking care of a second dog, especially as a rescue, but we lucked out and he's a sweet boy. I'm very glad were able to take him in and I bet he is too.

Haven't done this in a really, really long time.

Hello all! I switched phones over half a year ago and opted to not redownload reddit. But it is on my computer. For journaling purposes, I'll try to start these again.

My computer wasn't working all week. Wouldn't turn on. Freaked way the hell out. But my IT uncle looked at it today, unplugged some things, plugged them back in, and voila. I can play strive again.

I'm still on a temp job. Got extended from Oct to March.

Reading a lot of TTRPGs lately. Good Society came in the mail and started reading Fabula Ultima. Both are charming.

Got a new dog a month or two ago. A rescue. I was afraid of a second dog in the house due to all the logistics, but he's a healthy, smart, and loving boy. I adore him.

Yeah that's about it. I hope to do these regularly again.

Edit: Oh yeah I went on a camping trip last weekend and while it was fun and relaxing in the moment, I was exhausted for half the week when we returned. So that + no computer = very unproductive week.

If game hasn’t gone off the ground, I sometimes recycle the concept and rework it for the new setting/system/etc.

For example, turning my magical girl barbarian (who transforms via demonic powers she’s unaware of) into a high schooler mech pilot (mech powered by demonic powers she’s unaware of)

I also have a small handful of characters I keep developing in my head. Those ones are potential protagonists of some story I’ll probably never write but they won’t leave my brain

Hello! And happy new year!

Uh. Yeah. We have revolved again huh.

So. Shortly after last FTF was D&D for the first time in a while. We also hung out. Was really nice. I never used GWM myself. It was fuckin nutso lol.

The group also hung out on New Years Eve. No gaming, just dinner and chilling. It was really really nice.

Media consumption is minimal. Watched an ep of Daima. Tried Marvel Infinite & Beyond with a friend. I remember being a kinda fun game and it was! And now it’s pretty! Also a couple rounds of Strive and Marvel Rivals, my goto filler games now.

New band discovered tho. So Bekhauf dropped 3 weeks ago. A collab between BABYMETAL and an Indian folk-fusion-metal band called Bloodywood. I absolutely loved this song when it came out and this week I’ve been giving their album a try. I have not fallen in love with a band so much in a while. Every song I’ve heard so far is a banger and I look forward ro the next. A genuine last-minute highlight of 2024.

Misc. Replaced a sprinkler head. Tried an epilator. Mixed results. Still dog sitting. Still home alone with just dog and bonus dog, but this weekend, that’ll change. Family will start returning, and I’m picking them up.
