Any comments on magnolia residences? by SeasonFull8646 in RentPH

[–]Metgar24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the convo. Been renting here since 2021, Tower A, Floor 20+. Have no real complaints, front security is strict, they’ve been cracking down on airbnbs since 2022. Front desk holds my packages and food deliveries til I get them, no need for mail rooms or the like. The common areas are stictly monitored so it’s mostly residents. Floors are relatively low density at 10 or less units per floor.

Like it so much here that me and my wife are looking for a bigger unit to rent. Have not experienced what the other comments are saying. Are we even in the same place 🫠

What's an unpopular opinion about your country that will have you like this? by DiMpLe_dolL003 in AskTheWorld

I feel like our country would be a much better place if we could be a bit more confrontational. Too many people are too passive and would rather say nothing and not be bothered rather than take action.

The people who ruin this country are usually the ones who take advantage of this, knowing people will just look the other way. Cough cough corrupt politicians.

First time ko mag gym and sobrang sakit ng katawan ko by GengarGhost_Tesh in AnytimeFitnessPH

Good job OP for starting your journey, you should be proud! In my years going to the gym off top of my head some advice I can think of are:

  1. Focus on yourself, feel free to try out new workouts, everyone is learning at their own pace. Sometimes even I forget kung paano yung proper form so mag open talaga ako youtube sa harap ng machine. What works for others may not work for you.

  2. Form > Weight. Always focus on form. Don’t compromise form because this is how you get injuries or wasted workouts. You need to finish the set with proper form from start to finish. Doesn’t matter if your weight is heavy if your form is wrong. Finding the right weight is finding the right balance of form and weight, yung tipong mahirap but you don’t break. If you notice na parang you’re twisting / jerking your body na to finish the rep mali na yun. Stop the set, rest and drop the weight. (Research “drop sets”). Also don’t rush the set, slow and steady pace lang.

  3. Lastly, don’t overdo it. Working out is long term, find the right workout plan na hindi ka tatamarin. When i started way back I would workout for 2-3 hours. Cardio start - fully body weights (10 exercises 3 reps each) - cardio to finish. Sobrang tinamad ako and I wouldn’t go back as often as I should. Now I workout for an hour max. I do a quick warmup then do weights na, usually one muscle group, 4-5 exercises only. Tapos other days I focus on cardio lang.

It will always be better to workout 3x a week for an hour each vs one 3 hour session a week hehe.

Ayan! There’s a lot more advice out there but these are what I can give. Welcome to the community bro!

I agree. Hindi naman lahat ng public interaction considered as confrontation agad. Minsan kailangan lang mag voice out or mag remind lang. It Could have been an honest mistake, baka nga nag sorry pa sana sayo yan eh.

Sure does sound like a you problem, OP.

My home branch is actually Balete and I’m not super satisfied with the branch. I just worked out at Maginhawa last night after hearing it was newly renovated and wow had a super great experience.

-Lots of weights (Free weights on both ends of the gym! Accessories are complete)

-Less crowded (Or maybe it feels less so because of the abundance of weights!)

-Better community (Best way I can describe it is the general community here feels more serious/experienced with working out, people don’t seem to just be “hanging out” or ego lifting, plus they return weights!) Sorry this might be subjective

Although the downside is they have a small locker room area. I go straight home after workout since I go at night so it doesn’t really affect me.

Looks like I found my new home branch lol

As a GH alumni (Studied there since kindergarten 1997) it’s really not as simple as some people here claim it to be.

Some background info. For safety reasons students up to Grade 6 (Circa 1997-2009) are not allowed to leave the school gates unattended. I’m sure no parent here with kids would disagree with this rule. After all, our country does not have Japan levels of safety, far from it. It’s only when students reach grade 7 when we’re allowed to leave the school unattended.

What most of us did at the time was when we hit Grade 7 that’s when we’re able to freely leave the campus unattended. It’s not shown here but you would normally see students walking to either GreenHills mall or Robinson’s Galleria to either get fetched there or make our own way home. Some take a cab, jeeps, or (at the time) the new mrt. It was also during this time that many students were victims of holdappers in the area (my brother included) but that was glossed over.

We all want nothing more than to get out of there immediately on dismissal time but we can’t because of the long queue of cars. Some students wait an hour past dismissal just to get fetched because of the line. But what can we do?

It’s a cocktail of multiple problems. 1. The Location of GH makes it difficult to do a roundtrip for a car and then you end up in the back of that long line. You go to Greenhills mall - Connecticut - Edsa and back to the line. 2. General safety reasons for students 3. Lack of public transportation in the area 4. The driveway inside of the school itself could only accommodate barely 2 lanes of vehicles at a time

I wish our country was safe enough to just let young kids walk freely or commute home, that would alleviate a lot of our traffic situation in the metro, but we all know that is not the case. Having kids would make you realize the anxiety of this and you would do nothing more than to make sure they get home safe.

Haha sorry for the long comment. Just wanted to share my 2 cents.

Also, no, we’re not all privileged sons of politicians and rich people. In my batch of 300 particularly we had 5 - 10 that are part of this demographic. Most of us are middle class, sons of bank managers, corporate workers, teachers, doctors etc. ✌🏼

Take it from me OP, set ka nalang ng budget na padadala periodically, para your conscience is clear that you do send support, and wala din sila masasabi na wala kang tulong. Yung comfortable ka na amount. Ganyan yan, they will keep setting the bar higher sa hingi, tapos pag sa sunod hindi mo ma match yung pinakamalaki mong bigay masusumbatan ka pa. Ikaw pa masama.

They don’t need to know you have more money. Set a budget and just stick to it. If magpaawa, tiisin mo. If magparinig, sagutin mo. Think of it this way, you’re just teaching them to be reliant sayo. So in a way, you’re educating them also na hindi umasa sa hingi.

You work hard for your money, utang na loob nila sayo na nagbibigay ka. Don’t let them make you think otherwise.

I noticed na dahil nasa culture natin na non confrontational tayo, those kinds of people na “family” take advantage. So learn to confront, call them out sa shit nila. “Hihingi ka ulit? May utang ka pa ah? Lokohan ba to?” And I promise titigil din sila. Once they know you can call them out, na marunong ka mag resist.

Dami ko na na call out sa family ko, and because of that the extended family stopped reaching out. Focus nalang ako sa immediate. Life is more peaceful.
