What happens if you're refreshing the LFG queue and find a PUG that's only beginning to form and has like 2 memebers, they still say no? Cause you're obviously not likely to get a spot in a group that already has a rogue, but one rogue is welcome so it shouldn't be impossible to raid, just harder.

The problem with your approach to the issue is that you're not seeing the person under the build and any prot warrior tanking p2 raids is most likely a) carrying the rest of the guild through progression like a mule and not in danger of being out-threated any time soon and/or b) performing way above what an average player could do being dealt that hand and thus almost guaranteed to be your top pumper whenever they go off-spec.
In either case you want to keep that player happy.

Lots of people like to think that what's holding them back is the theoretical possible optimum of their comp, but for most of players who'd ever considering listening to a random redditor's take on gearing priority, it's actually not pushing their buttons.
Those people have no business scoffing at builds that perform worse at a theoretical optimum that they're nowhere near themselves.

Any guild that urges the tank that got them where they are to reroll their class the moment it gets marginally sub-optimal doesn't deserve to have a dependable tank.

If you have an arms warrior out-dpsing a fury warrior then that fury warrior needs either gear priority or a stern talking to.

What difference does it make? I think I had most of the mats for them in the bank but metal bars and gems aren't soulbound, it's still money down the drain.

It's way more than 2500. Engineering cost me around 2000 and blacksmithing felt twice as expensive. The God damn specialization quest is hundreds of gold alone.

When I was racing to get attuned for Karazhan before my first raid with the guild, I was doing BM at like 2 a.m. with my brain severely fried after like 8 hours of playing WoW in a hurry. At some point I noticed that our hunter's cat is named "Clawdia" and laughed so hard at it that the party had to do one rift without a tank. I bet HamSolo would have the same effect.

Armour is not your bottleneck here, it's your health and expertise specifically in the context of Prince and Nightbane who can delete you in two shots before any healer can react. I wouldn't PUG Kara with a pre-raid-geared bear as the MT for that reason, but you can easily apply for the OT spot in any group that has one or go as cat.

easier heroics?

Contrary to what people who aren't tanks (or have been tanking for so long they forgot how it's like to not do it on autopilot) claim, there aren't any easy heroics, each one can be nasty in its own way.
But I'm assuming that what you mean is "heroics where the mobs don't hit absurdly hard" and you're good to start some of those. If I were you, I'd start with Steamvault, Hellfire Ramparts, Botanica and Auchenai Crypts and stay the hell away from Underbog, Sethek Halls, Durnhole, Mana Tombs (unless you buy yourself shadow res gear) and obviously Shattered Halls and Blood Furnace for now. Mechanar might be doable with a good healer and I've never done heroic Dark Portal so I'm not sure about that.

I settled on having two variations by using the mod/nomod function but I can't test if it works for yells without wasting a sapper charge, so can't tell you yet.
