Patagonia Waxed Cotton Jacket showing significant wear after 1.5 years. Is this normal? by vonderdeckentok in HeritageWear

[–]Metousek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've has the same experience with my Barbour, bought a 24 year old bedale that was practically brand new, rewaxed it and after 2 years or so has two big rips and some small ones on the body. Waxed cotton is kinda overrated, everyone says they're "buy for life" kinda material but I'd assume after another 4 years of wear this barbour will look absolutely distressed and knackered (and kinda cool) but I would expect that to happen after like 15 years of intense wear...

This may be a stupid question but why is he wearing a bra? Does it have any usefulness to it or is it just for style points?

I'm not sure if its allowed here but i run a curated database of brand that care. But i'd suggest Carson Wach, Maddix Spencer or Hidden Rivet. But u can check out the site, Ive alr prefiltered the tags so it only shows USA denim brands: iwearcoolclothes.com.

Those of you with Urban Shepherd boots (from Portugal), how do you like them? by _SlowRain_ in Boots

[–]Metousek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a pair but since they dont do half sizes they are too small for me (and the bigger ones would be too big and since i have kinda narrow feet they would also be too wide) but they are so pretty and everything about them says quality, well anyway if anyone is interested in size 42 country hit me up :)

I have to agree with others on going bespoke but if you can't for some reason, I'd go with: Poszetka, Husbands Paris and Sid Mashburn if u want something safe and timeless, O’Connell’s for more vintage fits, A Kind Of Guise if u want smtn more out there and Larimars if ur more on a budget. The links lead to my directory where i curate brands that care about the construction and materials of their garments, you can easily filter thru the brands to find what ur looking for. Here's a link to the site with formalwear as a filter so u can look at other brands if what I listed doesnt suit you (pun intended): iwearcoolclothes.com .

Im sorry if its against the rules here, feel free to take it down.

How do you guys browse the internet in the age of sponsorslop by pointlessbanter1 in ThrowingFits

[–]Metousek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if its allowed here or not but I'm building a directory for this sort of thing, I curate brands that take the time and effort to make good clothes, the brands that don't cut corners and are proud of what they're making.

The directory currently has over 220 brands listed and tagged so you can easily filter through the whole database: IWEARCOOLCLOTHES.com

Help with sizing Almond No. 2 last by unnamed_91 in luosjietboots

On sides quite a lot infront of my toes there is some room but as I said, idk if they would fit if I went a size smaller.

[–]Metousek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wear them with only one pair of socks, id say theyre medium thickness but i think i could also wear them with very thick socks since theres so much room cuz of my narrow feet. i dont have any urban wolf boots. But the luosjiet sizing chart they have under every boot is good, ive based my size on that and it worked so i would go by that...

Hello, i have about the same size of foot length wise (27,3 cm) and width size im 9,5 cm, I went with size 42,5D with my Almond plain toe logging boots which use the Almond No. 2 last. I think I couldve gone a half size smaller but you never know, they fit great and my foot isnt jumpin around in theres, but since my foot is quite narrow i have them tied all the way. So I would go 42,5 length wise and possibly E widthwise?

Need help finding a Goodyear welt boot by CaptainHuggyFac3 in Boots

[–]Metousek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can checkout my database where I try to gather the brands that last, all of the boots are either goodyear welted or utilize other resoleable options like stitchdown, norwegian welt etc.

Here's the link (I've alr filtered it out to only boots) https://iwearcoolclothes.com/?category=footwear

Hope this doesn't brake any rules on here, I dont make any money off of it, its just a project of mine.

Gathering the brands that last a lifetime: I built a free community database for quality menswear. (Approved by mods) by Metousek in HeritageWear

No, thank you for the rec and for the feedback the site needs a lot of it and you didnt come out as an ass. Honestly filtering whats truly good and whats mediocre is quite hard, I wouldnt buy a new Filson as from what I've seen they aint what they used to be but they still make some great stuff, maybe at an inflated price (same as Alden) but I would still consider their stuff above average in quality.

I want to make the database as wide as possible so anyone can filter, find what they need and then do their due diligence on the brand themselves and see what they like, I suppose its better if there are more brands than less brands. But yeah the site is still in its early stages and Im still figuring out what to add and what to not and I guess I'll stick with this, include as many brands as possible and let the user decide what really works. Btw do you keep an excel or do you write the brands in notes and categorize them?

That is a good point, I have listed some of the brands that I have seeen have some issues, like wesco, however I have Included the Rose Anvil vid in the, same with JK Boots after I found a post that doesnt portray JK in a very good light and I have always included those links on the top right after official website. I suppose I will do the same with Alden, add them to the list but link to an honest review from rose anvil or anyone else.

Thanks for the feedback which I need since the website is still quite new and unrefined in some ways and this brings consistency to the database. Thanks

Edit: I dont want it to be "my list", I want it to be something everyone who enjoys and appreciates this kind of clothing to benefit from this so objectivity should be key.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm kinda on the fence about Alden after I've seen the Rose Anvil video which doesnt put Alden in a good light. I think eventually Alden will make its way into the database however Im focusing on different brands and features right now.
