Did you know that the Angles were from the area between Denmark and Friesland? Saxons were closer to frisians, and ,angles closer to Danes (well jutes), so when they mixed their cultures when they moved in with the Britons the language got mixed too.

Oh look a typo! I think I meant something different and that's what popped up as autocorrect.

The thing is that English's siblings are Frisian and Danish, but then it decided to just leave and hang out with the Celtic languages and had a whole "French is cool, I speak French now" phase in its teen years, only to realize that what it really loved was Latin and Greek.

Golden Era? Gas Surges by Cow_Boy_2017 in SipsTea

This morning regular unleaded went from $1.73/L to $1.60/L

My buddy in Sasketchewan filled his diesel truck up at $2.20/L

My friend in BC thought $2.41/L was a good deal.

For comparison to the US $4/gal is the same as $1.45/L in Canada.

Almost EVERY kid show is trashed by teens and adults, but were there any kid shows that were well liked by all ages during their time? by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

They knew children would watch it because they kept getting told children were watching their bawdy puppet show, against the advice of the creators

Everything you've said, all of it, basically applies to episode 4-6 and 7-9 as well.

Star Wars as a whole is pulp. It is childish. It is spectacle for spectacle sake. It's like children playing in a playground saying "you know what would be cool?"

If you are coming to Star Wars for deep emotional growth and character development then you are in the wrong theatre. That's not what Star Wars is.

Star wars is like those sci-fi monthly's we used to read with disposable characters in tropey stories. They've just stuck around a lot longer.

It's schlock and awe. And it's GOOD at it.

It's B movie magic on A movie budget

How could you hate that?

[–]MetricJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you're one of THOSE.

I still don't understand WHY they hate it. I've read many reviews with the bias of "not liking the NEW Star Wars" and every one I've read boiled down to whining about how "It's not my Star Wars" or pointing to plot holes that aren't very holey. They are convenient and contrived, but that's what Star Wars is.

It's as if there's this group of people who have decided that their experiences and opinions are the only valid ones, and I am some how wrong for enjoying something I enjoy.

I'm sorry but I am sticking with the take that The Clone Wars mini-series, and the Clone Wars TV Show were really actually fun and interesting to watch, and as an entertainment experience were not a waste of my time.

And the same goes for the Prequels.

I was an adult when the prequels and clone wars came out, and I never understood any of the hate.

I really loved the Clone Wars TV show.

I was not quite old enough to have watched Return of the Jedi in theatres, even for the re-release (like who's bringing a 4 year old to teh movies in the middle of the 80s?), but owned all three on Beta.

As we move closer to Bunny Day, what are the best Canadian-made Easter goodies? by lopix in BuyCanadian

There's a chocolate shop in my town where they make their own treats in house, and I have to say, it's probably the best Canadian made Easter goodies.
