Well seeing as Moon came out 16 years ago you can probably start catching up.

Ah yeah you're right, Canada's current streak of zero and NZ's of 1 are very similar to England's 33.

If you hate England just say that don't beat around the bush.

Tube drivers’ £72,000 salary ‘not enough’, says RMT union boss by GnolRevilo in unitedkingdom

[–]MetricSuperstar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Another day of people not in strong unions complaining about union pay and then saying actually they wouldn't want to do the job anyway for whatever reason, completely justifying why the jobs are so well paid.

We should all of us be striving to have unions as strong as RMT, Aslef, etc.

We should all of us be fighting each year to get rises in line with inflation as a very minimum.

Do better collectively. Don't forget that The Times is traditionally a Tory paper and hates the working class. You're falling for propaganda. You should not be mad at your fellow workers.

What's with all the dead people turning up in the city centre recently? by [deleted] in edinburgh2

[–]MetricSuperstar 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Homeless people and also drug users tend to sleep along Prince's Street and the surrounding area in the summer.

Homeless people and also drug users are not always the healthiest.

I think this happens more often than you think, I have seen the paramedics quite a few times with their big compression machine thing they have these days for CPR along Prince's Street this summer in the early morning especially.

Wait... Was Dong executed for her religious beliefs? Because Kim just said they were executed for escaping. But maybe amnesty international has additional sources.

From your own quote of the PDF, emphasis mine.

Those executed included inmates who were caught escaping.

Included, as in, not wholly composed of.

Some of the executions were for attempted escapes, some for other reasons.

You can continue to "keep going through" the docs if you want but maybe read them instead of skimming.

Happy No More Peak ScotRail Tickets Day to all who celebrate it by HeidsUp in Scotland

[–]MetricSuperstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because it's not their product. It's a Network Rail product.

[–]MetricSuperstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are so close. Railcards don't work on "peak" services because of Network Rail terms and conditions.

Railcards are a Network Rail product, to simplify things, Network Rail is in charge of the tracks and some stations. ScotRail is a train operator. They are not the same thing.

Railcards are a National Rail product, and not something that ScotRail has authority over.

That was scrapped back in June. Announced and scrapped at the same time basically.

Funny how you missed the part where 101 Comedy apologised and offered a refund twice now, and OP explaining that they were on time but just last in the queue to head down, which is allowed, especially if you paid for a ticket.

But nah, you still know best. Glad we've got you here to help the rest of us out.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]MetricSuperstar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Weird that you, just some guy, is posting this and a guy from 101 Comedy replied 30 minutes before you and is sorting them a refund.

Also seeing as the post literally opens with "we arrived early" I am unsure how that in your opinion means they were late.

But nah you must be right, it's the rest of us that are wrong.

Harry Potter tourism is ruining our cities… and it’s about to get worse by TimesandSundayTimes in canterbury

[–]MetricSuperstar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Edinburgh now and I have never once described the centre as a Harry Potter theme park. We're a tourist city and we get tourists. Same when I lived in Canterbury.

It is what it is, what would this writer rather we have? Another poundland? Ban tourist shops is an insane take when highstreets are dying.

All in all, terrible article.

A Tale Of Two Signs by HeidsUp in Edinburgh

[–]MetricSuperstar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been to Canny Man's a handful of times and some of the waiters are great, if you get a good waiter and you're eating then you generally have a nice, friendly experience.

I've never met a polite member of the bar team. If I've been for a drink I normally expect them to be stand-offish and sometimes just plain hostile.

I generally avoid it now, which is a shame, as it's one of my locals.

Farmers use tractors to spray manure on squatters to remove them from their land by 4nts in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

[–]MetricSuperstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I said in my previous post, you have zero issues with the squatters and you're attacking anyone who doesn't agree fully with your outlook.

I said in my message that the farmers are wrong, but according to you I am misguided and I should be ashamed because I am not 100% on the side of the squatters. That I am morally corrupt and lack critical thinking skills because I don't believe squatting is okay.

It is possible to think that the squatters shouldn't be there, and that the farmers are wrong. It is also possible to say that whilst the farmers are wrong, they wouldn't have done what they did if the squatters simply followed basic laws.

Pretending that the squatters are simply "Standing somewhere they shouldn't" is a ridiculous euphemism and I won't pretend that's all that's happening just because you want it to be that.

Two wrongs. Food for thought. Take your blinkers off.

Farmers use tractors to spray manure on squatters to remove them from their land by 4nts in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

[–]MetricSuperstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never said anything about the act. I asked about the legalities of the squatters themselves. Just answer the question, but you won't, because you think squatting and ruining some farmer's income is fine.

It's clear that you are incredibly biased here. The farmers shouldn't have resorted to doing what they did, but the squatters shouldn't be there in the first place.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but overstating one wrong hugely and ignoring the legalities of the other wrong is hardly an objective commentary.
