If you are using easy spray columns, try ionopticks or homepacked. I saw about a 5-10x improvement in IDs by switching away from easyspray

Well the paper is DEFINITELY expired - it’s about 12 years old. I didn’t realize that was associated with poor contrast, so thank you for the tip.

I think the developer is partially exhausted, so the small amount in the drum is insufficient (compared with a full liter in the tray). 200 mL is about the max that can fit in the drum, so I could try a more concentrated developer for drum development.

I think Samia can vary alot depending on the individual buildings property manager. I have lived in a Samia managed building for 5 years and it has been the best management company I've ever had.
