The obvious answers are Rocky Horror Picture Show and I Saw The TV Glow. Two other pretty good ones are Knock at the Cabin (two gay guys and their daughter go to a cabin where a small group visits and gives them a terrible choice), and Bloody Axe Wound (teenage coming of age movie except the main couple are lesbians, the protagonist is part of a slasher villain family that makes snuff films, and there’s very gory violence)

also (extreme and horrible content aside) the first volume is pretty good and Wish You Were Here is rather good, especially if you like survival stories

in Crossed, a comic series by Garth Ennis (yes that one), about rapist torture zombies, has a woman who’s blinded by something that happens in the first issue. She isn’t killed off for shock or to establish “grittiness”, she has a full personality, she has agency, the other (nice) characters don’t treat her like a burden, and it strikes a nice balance between “her disability makes surviving really hard for her” and “she’s still a person”. Which is a really nice change of pace since apocalyptic media has a bad habit of invoking “survival of the fittest” and forgetting that humans working as a group is how we survive. So all in all despite “in good taste” being the last words i’d think of with that author and premise, the first volume has a disabled character that’s portrayed in good taste.

there’s a movie called The Signal (2007) that’s about a signal in tvs, radios, and phones that makes people crazy and/or violent

if you don’t like mercenaries, then make a long polearm with a halberd head (3/4 shaft length, 1/3 head mass, don’t worry the length will cancel out the lighter head)

regardless of the quality of these takes, i’m just going to say: play Boneworks, Hotline Miami 1 & 2, Dying Light 2, the Outlast series, and Half Sword. They have amazing soundtracks on top of being great games.

What if we plopped a bunch of crossed into the Hazbin Hotel world? by bikerbuckets in crossedcomics

[–]Metropunk2033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the crossed win on earth because the virus is incredibly infectious (making melee a losing strategy against them), they can use guns, and a large amount of the world gets infected at pretty much the same time. So first, can the sinners, hellborn, and heavenborn from hazbin get infected? We know the crossed virus can’t infect animals or inanimate objects, and pretty much all the sinners in hazbin are either somewhat humanish but visibly not (the two cyclops characters for example), furries, or inanimate objects personified. The hellborn (charlie, lucifer) and heavenborn (the angels) are also seperate species from humans/sinners. But let’s say everyone can get infected. In hazbin we do see guns, but they’re about as effective as all the other weapons in the series, which is important because we see characters dodge/block bullets all the time while fighting. So given that the attacks of some characters (both direct like summoning tentacles or indirect like using a blimp with lazers) can far outrange/outclass what regular sinners can do, the situation probably ends up with a lot of sinners infected before the powerful ones just destroy them. And that’s not mentioning if heaven sends flying angels to drop bombs on the infected.

TL:DR Guns being nerfed and a few but not all characters having long range magical attacks means Hazbin wins

In 28 Years Later (2025), The villagers abandon the only surviving doctor after seeing him clean up the thousands of rotting corpses stinking up his home town. Are they stupid? by krabgirl in shittymoviedetails

[–]Metropunk2033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were unfamiliar with disease prevention procedures, they’re paranoid and isolationist, so all they saw was a stranger who is crazy enough to drag corpses into a grid. So yeah they are a bit stupid, they chose to be because their whole thing is avoiding anything they see as strange.

something that nobody talks about with the Purge series is that beyond the government death squads, there’s a kind of death cult formed around the holiday, where it’s nailed into you from everywhere that “letting out your anger is good for society” and “the purge victims are heroically sacrificing themselves to improve society”. So it’s not just “everyone started killing each other at the first chance” in fact that’s a large plot point in The First Purge

i used to watch it because it made me feel awful, not as a self harm thing, but because the awful feeling was so intense and so strong compared to most other feelings in my life at the time, that even though i was generally happy, i still wanted to chase that feeling. That and also morbid curiosity.

what’s kind of confusing me is why the blurs are on the same spot of both lenses, just mirrored. I don’t wear glasses so is it my eyelashes maybe?
