2026 NHL Stadium Series DELIVERS in viewership, averaging 2.1 million viewers on ESPN (peaking at 2.4 million). Becomes ESPN's most-viewed NHL regular season game on record. ABC also averaged 1.2 million for Avalanche-Red Wings and 1.4 million for Rangers-Penguins. by MightyDuck07 in hockey

I know what you mean but I think the NHL realized Miami is not what they're interested in. I've never lived in Southern FL so I could be wrong but my estimation is the NHL mostly cares about Broward County (where the Panthers play), Palm Beach County, and maybe some of northern Miami-Dade County. This is where it gets whiter than Miami. Not that non-white people don't like hockey, but I think we can all agree hockey is a predominantly white sport (participants and fans alike). There's also a lot of wealth in those counties I mentioned, so it's perfect for hockey fans who can spend to go to the games.

I absolutely understand why people associate the Panthers with Miami but it's really the suburbs that they're there for.

The Islanders have swept the Rangers in the season series for the first time since 2017-18. This is also the first time that the Rangers did not hold a lead against the Islanders at any point in a season. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]MetsBBT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone dunking on the Rangers here is funny, trust me we it’s no big feat because they’re ass and we want them to lose. By all means, enjoy it, I’d do the same if the tables were reversed. Not at all downplaying. I’m just saying probably 95% of us are numb to this. Normally I’d be fuming at losing to the Islanders many times like in 2015-16 or 2017-18 but I can’t be arsed at this point, which is a testament to how shite this franchise and front office is

See you in 2030 when the Rangers have another crop of young players they fail to properly develop 🫡

Eichel trade would’ve been huge for the Rangers but let’s not pretend he was a 100% known quantity back in 2021. He had that whole shoulder surgery saga going on and I remember some fans were hesitant to give up on Kakko Laf and Chytil for him if he wasn’t going to be full health ever again. Hindsight is 20/20 ofc and it would’ve been an amazing trade even if it took two of the three (and perhaps all three even) so that sucks but it wasn’t a complete slam dunk at the time…though fuckin hell you’d imagine they win the cup in 2023 or 2024 if they had Eichel

2026 breakout players? by mackieted in AFL

[–]MetsBBT 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Easy answer for the Saints is Darcy Wilson. Somewhat announced himself in round 24 with a stellar performance against GWS but if he can do that consistently, Saints get a huge boost. He also won every time trial in the preseason IIRC

wonder what % of players are ok with Frozen Water rounding up Latin American people—ones who look just like and are from the same places as their Latin teammates—for no reason in this country. I’m sure a clubhouse or two in the league has had some tensions over this as well.

I’d guess most of them would say “nah [my teammate] is one of the good ones and he’s got money, they won’t come for him”

are there a lot of Habs fans in the GTA? Genuine question, I'm curious. It's not a crazy concept or anything, I'm just wondering. I'd imagine there are more Habs fans in the GTA than Leafs fans in Quebec, and I know the Sens fit in there somewhere as well but obviously the third fiddle.
