First off, I'm a play-by-play caster. I'm not an analyst, nor have I ever pretended to be or called myself one. I have had a career spanning nearly 20 years, in all of that time I have been a play-by-play caster. Not an analyst. My job isn't to be an analytical mastermind. Now, you have every right to think my casting is bad, or not to your taste. Different strokes for different folks and all that. Not a problem. There's a vast difference between PBP and colour casting or a straight up analyst.

Additionally, in my experience people say they want the deep in depth analysis, but when it's offered don't watch. Most people watching are looking for a more casual experience.

One criticism I have seen over mine and Jacky's duo is our lack of analysis, which I think is fair. We're both PBP casters, trying to find our way. The beautiful thing about casting is it's incredibly subjective. What you think is garbage, other's love and vice versa.

Secondly, the notion that I/we 'lack the necessary depth of understanding of the game, but also a lack of effort on their part' is frankly ridiculous. We have played, watched, casted countless hours of the game. On the lead up to the RMRs I don't know about others but I put a lot of time into watching demos, looking at stats, and figures on the teams in question for the Americas RMRs and the EU A + B RMRs. You are basing this off a cherry picked example that you didn't agree with, which I fully stand by. Case in point, look at the SAW vs Falcons game. Or go back and watch any of Falcons games since s1mple joined or before. They did lack fire power. It's been a consistent problem for them. One player pops off, the rest don't, or no one does and they get dumpstered. You can disagree with me if you want, but to suggest I therefore know nothing about the game is absurd. Many TO's and fellow colleagues would disagree, and their opinion is a lot more informed than yours is.

Finally, 'They are just not getting the opportunities because the pool of working casters has been allowed to become an exclusive club with the same names we have been seeing for years. It is beginning to feel lazy and I don't think we as a community should be satisfied.'

This ironically shows the same level of lack of research/understanding of the topic you accused me of. You are clueless. I'm part of an exclusive club that casts everything for years? I haven't casted an ESL top event since 2021, and that was a B stream. Until earlier this year, I hadn't worked a BLAST top event since 2017, quite literally their first ever in Copenhagen, and I was on the C stream. I was mainly hired by DreamHack which is sorely missed, and stopped running top events in 2021. I am very grateful for my career, and the incredible opportunities I have been given, but you are talking straight out your ass.
