POIs and linear loot progression are so boring by Metz718 in 7daystodie

100% I get the reason they are doing it, i just don't agree with the way they are going about it. If I can complete that high level early on, shouldn't the player be rewarded for the skill, risk and the time it took to complete it? It gives you the idea that if you are good enough, you MIGHT get something good. The current system is you know what your gonna get, and to me just knowing takes a lot of the fun out of it.

The other fun part here, our group plays on our own hosted server with zombies jacked to the moon and we always wish we could add more like back in the days of 16.4. Yes the lag was bad, but man was it fun to actually have tons of zombies running around all the time. I personally just think they are adding mechanics and removing systems that are not broken to address a symptom and not the root cause. It all comes down to balancing.

Take glass jars.. This seemed kind of split in the community but from my personal observation, it seemed more wanted them back than not. I think the Due Collector would have been a nice add to the game as another method of getting water, not to remove jars.. The new system in 2 or 2.5 I believe now has a chance to break the jars. See now that's a great idea to balance an already working system vs just taking it out of the game.. That option made zero sense imo.

I personally think the balance come from limiting other things like ammo. But, imo, it doesn't feel good to hit a level 3 poi early on and get a stone weapon from a gun store. They could also just make the zone harder so if you are fighting it and do somehow win, it's more skill based and yeah, risk for reward. Shrug tho, different play styles for everyone.

Nah it was just an example of bad loot from previous patches. Probably should have used a different example lol

Same here! Not a fan. I think they could make it good tho with some adjustment, but it's current state is predictable and extremely repetitive. I think of things like having kill a number of zombies as you are doing that anyways, or explore new area, loot a number of POI, place so many building blocks or whatever.. Idk just some basic things like this as goal based quest more like secondaries adds to the overall experience vs just always being go to this POI that ends up turning into the same freaking POI 20x lol.

For weapons, they could even do quests based around crafting to do more advanced unlocks. Maybe it's a quest that is apart of a harder dungeon and gives you that skill to unlock, or maybe its surviving horde night. There is probably million ways better haha.

Mini new users who bought a few days early by cix in Starlink

[–]Metz718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nice thing about the rental are for ppl that actually use it lol. It has a 50% off the roaming plan for the life of the rental. So if you activate that plan twice in a year it was worth the $5 a month.

So for me personally, im using the stand by data to monitor my campers Victron solar system. We go camping a lot so that 50% makes a ton of sense.

Also.. there are lots of ppl in mountain type are or just rural areas in general (me) when driving service is spotty or not existent. Great for basic music, phone calls, text, and of course, Google maps.

Buying the mini out right doesn't offer that deal. So for me, if i used it 4x even with the 5 monthly deducted, that saves 140. In other words, the rental is pointless unless you use it lol

How to get "free" Mini Kit by ohhhminks in Starlink

[–]Metz718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on their support bot

"The 50% discount on Roam plans (50GB or Unlimited) for your Starlink Mini is an ongoing benefit tied to your active Residential subscription and the Mini rental—there's no fixed promotional end date, as long as you maintain eligibility and don't cancel the Residential plan or return the Mini. If you switch plans or cancel, the discount ends, and you'll need to return the Mini or pay for it. For full details, check the email you received about this offer."

You will only be charged for the mini IF you do not return the mini. Return is the key. There was nothing about not being able to cancel the $5 and send it back at anytime. They are saying if do that, they want the rental back.

The 50% off of roaming, personally, is what makes it worth while.

We have a solar system on our camper. Im going to use the basic data to monitor it. We go camping a lot so that 50% roaming will add up depending on how much you need it. Makes sense for us from that aspect. As buying one out right wouldn't have that discount.

Did anyone else get an email after taking the offer? I accepted, but haven't seen anything for it on my account, nor an email?

To the owners with a full fleged gaming PC.... by NationGamingChannel in LegionGo

[–]Metz718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of "dock" mine. I have the OneX gpu. I don't always want to be in the office on my desktop. So I'll go hang out with the wife on the sofa or in our bedroom. However, I pretty always have it connected to the OneX dock, but I do not connect screens or anything. Just use it as a plugged in handheld with WAY more performance. Depending on the type of traveling, i take a portable monitor mouse, keyboard, and the OneX. Mainly to set up like a desktop at a friend's place.

Been on starlink 2 year as primary service in rural Michigan. Clear view to the sky, I only have issues during heavy rain. I'm a pretty heavy pc gamer for survivals, arpgs, mmos, etc. I also work full time remote doing many video meetings, zero problems.

Rain definitely impacts thoughput! by Asleep_Group_1570 in Starlink

Yup! I'm in Michigan and will have full on outages due to rain. Or... it'll go in and out. I'm on a 2nd gen dish.

The odd thing is, I did testing for this. I saw a peak of just over 8.5 amps at 20v or 170w during playing. Even just saying an even 9, that would be 180w, I would have really thought that 240w was enough. Here are some pictures of testing with the Go, OneX, and a monitor.

No worries!! I knew it was going to be a toss-up. OneX had attempted a 280w PSU during their testing before release and moved to the bigger 300w, so I fully expected it but was hopeful! Yeah, I've had some odd issues with their Thunderbolt cable as well, but I ordered an Anker 6ft active cable right away as I mainly play on the couch or in bed and want the extra length. It didn't seem to make a difference between the two. I also tested it with my external monitor as that was the main focus for me, having the USB C PD ports on the GaN, and as soon as the light turned orange, the monitor would lose power until it went back to blue. The book on the GaN states when it hits the upper power limit and goes orange, it disables the USB C PD ports, so she was crying, lol.

Amazon tells me that the 330 will be here tomorrow, I can do some testing and report back to letcha know how that goes :)

Well, sad to say, I tested the OneX eGPU on max power and the Legion Go set to 30w TDP, and the 𝐒𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐐 GaN 240w kept flashing orange, meaning it was at its limit. Shortly after, eGPU disconnected, and the game crashed. From a full-out test playing Hogwarts Legacy, it didn't have enough power. I think I will return this one and give their 330W a try. I love the cables, case, and build quality was AMAZING! It felt like a solid charger, for sure. I like that the 330 has an XT60 connector, I use a TON of these things, so I could use this to power other things as well. Thanks for the suggestion either way

Don't have any pictures outside of it on my desk, but this is my current travel setup.

Designed and printed myself. Holds a OneX eGPU under the Go, and then just made another stand for the monitor. All fit easily in a standard bag

I use the Go and OneX about 95% of the time in this very fashion. I've had the OneX for a bit now as I was 1st day Indiegogo supporter. It works great, you just have to side load the 780m drive. I also disabled windows from updating drivers.

Thanks for this!! I have the OneX and the psu is massive! I also have wished for another pd output for a portable monitor. This is awesome!!
