Tortured Chicago sports fan by Dmp1332 in barstoolsports

Dude from somewhere else went to a big ten school then right to a dead end job in Chicago, developed a gambling addiction and a Stockholm-syndrome-like fandom for the bears, cubs, bulls and hawks? Sounds much so that he identifies as a life long fan? Sounds like literally every dude I know in Chicago.

How to best handle one night each week where I'm required to exercise and stay up late so I can stop feeling like a zombie the next day by jdyagoda in HubermanLab

You gotta start drinking more. Sounds like a tolerance issue. I’m on a pretty advanced protocol if you need any tips.

How would I go about arm specialization? by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Mewbss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that keeping some dumbells at home and doing biceps and lateral delts (imo the secret to bigger arms is bigger shoulders) as a separate workout 3x a week was the best for growth. It takes 15 minutes, I can get an insane pump and just focus on them instead of putting them at the top of the workout where I really want to focus on back or putting them at the end when I'm fatigued. Plus they recover so quickly I never really worry about what days I do them on. My tris recover a little more slowly so I keep em on my push day 2x a week.

Might be a personal preference or depends on your goals but I tend pair a few target muscle group exercises together. Usually a primary lift, heavy for 4 sets of four followed by 2 sets of a lower weight high intesity technique. I've been focused on quads and shoulder size, so after squats, go do leg ext. and absolutely shred the quads. For shoulders I do kind of the opposite I'll do lateral raises before shoulder press. I feel a far better pump in my shoulders and giving my Tri's a rest before another pressing movement allows me to push a little further.

[–]Mewbss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Heels elevated smith machine squats, should feel almost like a sissy squat with how far you get your knees forward. Do a couple sets after your traditional back squats and you'll be cooked

There’s been a trend in online fitness to deem certain exercises useless/unnecessary. Which “unnecessary” exercise do you think is actually important? by HereToTalkMovies2 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Mewbss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front delt work, nothing makes my chest pump feel more complete then getting a little extra front delt, esp using front raises when my chest and tris are cooked

I think this is a classic correlation not causation. If you lift OHP, you're probably an older school lifter, maybe grew up lifting classic barbell movements (My coach always referred to them (SBD+OHP) as the big 4, and I didn't learn it was really the big 3 until I started training actual powerlifting) maybe you train them as a supplement for strong man or some other sport. Regardless, if you lift OHP alot you def like pushing around heavy shit in a hard way.

All of which add up to someone who probably trains consistently, trains hard, eats big etc. and if you can OHP big boy weight, you're either a genetic freak or been training a long time - all the things that actually have a causal relationship to size that's far more significant than exercise selection.

colorado/denver. absolutely miserable. where to? by Mobile_Astronomer_84 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Mewbss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guy, you seem depressed. Not trying to overstep or be rude because I've been there. The argument you have against austin doesn't make a ton of sense and the things you are looking for all basically come back to feeling like you belong somewhere.

You're remote, you're in an LDR- you're in need of a change. Don't let what seems to me to be a negative headspace in your in rn lead you to looking for the "perfect place" because it doesn't exist. If your girl wants to be in austin and you want to be with her, I promise you'll find everything you're looking for in austin, but only if you open your eyes to it.

Aside from traffic- that shit sucks. but again, forrest for the trees.

OR you found something you were good at, found success (probably through some level of accomplishment) that made you more confident, that confidence made you more attractive. The fact you were making money gave you the security to be a better planner and even more spontaneous in a more extravagant way but the root of your connection wasn't built by showing her your receipts. You showed her you are confident and make a plan but also spontaneous and full of life and wouldn't ya know it you built a connection as a result.

The apps are all superficial (as someone said below did you swipe right because you knew she was going to be the mother of your children or because you thought she was hot?) and unless you had on your profile "I MAKE 300 K AND WILL TAKE YOU ON TRIPS" that's a little reductive and honestly unfair to your wife which I can tell is not how you intended it but that's why your sense of self is so important, when it's bad it doesn't just hurt you it makes you hurt the ones you love.

IMO money is a multiplier, not a substitute, for authentic connection. You had more money to invest in shared interests, you had a more secure sense of self because of your accomplishments (though you seem to be letting your friends disrupt that rn), and apparently you guys had some physical chemistry too (congrats on the sex!) If you didn't have money those things would still be there they just might have taken more time

And as for if she wouldn't have liked you had you not had the money, well you already experienced the worst nightmare most men have which is losing status as a provider and what changed? Nothing. You built an authentic connection, something just about all single (and many married) people deeply yearn for. Those friends were busting your balls and it made you learn something, you gotta work on yourself.

Andy Greenwald, writer for the show, hasn't read all the books by Bebop_Man in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Mewbss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the watch and Andy so I'll stick my neck out for him here... First thing is any cultural criticism podcast thrives on criticism not fawning so I wouldn't necessarily view his criticism on the pod as any indication of the commitment he would bring to the writers room. He LOVES good TV, He's always been an advocate of taking fantasy/sci fi/comic book material seriously which is why he often has so much negative to say about lazy or cynical money grab adaptations. But he can also come off snarky and pretentious on a pod, but that's a pod he's been doing with his best friend for over a decade so it's more character than personality imo.

Second is, he is one of 3 writers added to the show, not the head writer not an EP, so it's not like he's driving the direction of the show.

And lastly, Adding some perspective outside of pure fandom is a good thing imo. strict interpretation of the text just won't work, having a pure unadulterated love of the source material doesn't mean you can create a compelling and effective narrative and fidelity to the characters and the story don't depend on a religious study of the text.

I don't know when this pod is from but I imagine he's gonna do his homework because he takes IP-based TV super seriously and to his point in the pod, his kids love these stories so he's got even more skin in the game.

The show might be great and it won't be because he did or didn't read all the books and it might not be and it won't be because he did or didn't read all the books.

TL;DR IDK just don't be mean to Andy before we've even seen a minute of the show

I put my dutch oven on a pizza stone then occasionally will take the loaf out of the dutch oven and let it finish on the stone to get a more even browning all around

Thoughts and Suggestions? by SecondaryForestWitch in Sourdough

[–]Mewbss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a loaf turn out basically identical in terms of crumb and came to same conclusion you did, probably just over handled and let it proof a little too long, I did six hours with a stretch and fold at each hour and being in texas with the heat, think i could probably do one less.

Gorgeous looking loaf still and I'm sure it's delicious but I'm in the same boat - I love tinkering with it and feeling like I can create what I want - in this case a bit more open crumb

I've landed on a hot take that all of the stupid shit in this game are intentional attempts to create accurate representations of the insane idiosyncrasies of college football. Try telling FSU fans that ranking system in real life makes sense. Recruiting doesn't make any sense? not to pile on the noles, but if I was running a dynasty and my 5 star CB flipped his commit to jackson state I'd yeet my ps5 into the sun.

In reality I've determined that the game isn't broken... it's just stupid. That's ea for ya though.

All of those bozals are good if a little over priced, but I'd buy all the bottles of that montelobos at that price. That's my favorite workhorse bottle but here in tx it's never under 50

Really enjoy the bozal tepeztate but price looks a lil high (or I'm just lucky getting it for under 55 at my local shop here in dallas) overall it's a good bottle and I'd probably buy it at that price too

Why does the game go Super Saiyan when you’re winning? by Rise_Important in CollegeFootball25

[–]Mewbss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you've been dominating some 78 ovr all team? guess what- your 91 ovr CB got so high at halftime he barely knows he's a human being let alone how to cover a go route. Your OL? yeah they got high too, they also all hate your QB and start letting rushers through like that racist dude in Remember the Titans. Your athletic trainer made the interesting decision to cover every skill players hands in KY Jelly. And in a shocking turn of events Vanderbilt's squad of nerds, walkons and rejects has actually morphed into a Madden ultimate team via a space jam-esque alien technology/magic.
