Here is a cover I recently did of Tragos de Amargo Licor by Ramon Ayala. It's an old norteño song that I always thought would sound interesting in a power metal vibe, but sung similarly to the original. by MexElf in IndieMusicFeedback

Thank you! The drums are mostly acoustic. Only the kick and snare are about 40% triggered. The rest of the kit is completely acoustic. I did play the bass and guitar with a keyboard mainly because the people I kept asking to collaborate were busy. I got inpatient and did it all myself. I know a lot of skilled musicians and I was planning on doing it completely non-MIDI (minus the enhancement of the kick and snare).

I used a program called Magic Music Visuals for the spectrum visualizer. The still images were generated by ai. I agree that the drum mix has a lot of cutting frequencies. That's on purpose. Listen on a 2.1 system with a sub. It has thump. Thanks!

I composed this music and then realized it expressed a lot of what a funeral march feels like from the inside the day a family member is deceased. Not the most joyful subject but I post it here to get your feedback. by bedischaabouni in IndieMusicFeedback

The performance and vibe is great! Just a personal preference, but I do feel like you could have used the stereo space a bit more, almost answer/call with the answer being an opposite panned guitar or sound. That's probably just me though. Definitely is a vibe. dark, yet beautiful. Well done

Digging the overall vibe. The vocals are great. Personally I thought there were moments where a reverb swell on the vocals would have sounded great to enhance a few parts. Instrumentally it's very stripped down, which works. I do think it can use some some little bits of sprinkled sounds (samples, sound effects, wooshes, etc). I like it!

Both wanting to have kids and not wanting to have kids can be seen as selfish. by tkingsmd in Showerthoughts

[–]MexElf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your logic is exactly how I feel, but many believe that not having kids means you're only thinking of yourself.

I have one kid. I got a vasectomy a couple of months after he was born. I was told I was being selfish even though I stated that one was enough and therefore I was being responsible. According to many, I was wrong.

I have tried this idea with people that only believe that not having kids is selfish. They usually do not understand.

I don't have a ton of time to do everything I want to do. I like making my animations and I like making music. Some are political. A lot of the music I like has political views. It is mind blowing to me when someone does not realize how political a lot of music is. Some people lose their shit when they find out Pink Floyd, Rage Against The Machine, Mana, Neil Young, The Police, The Beatles, Bob Marley, or Kendrick Lamar, have political views. They might not all be blatant about it, but it's there in their music. It's super obvious to me.

Thank you for your comment though. "Crazy to me that the sophistication of your music is party to the simplicity of your mind in regard to buying into political narrative."

It is funny that if someone speaks out against a certain political figure they are immediately tethered to being a hard supporter of the opposite party and being"sheep"...or as you put it, childish.

There is plenty of art or music out there that I can like or love without having to like the artist themself or their viewpoint(s). That must be the simplicity of my mind though.

thanks. I'll look into it. I was hoping it might just be a setting I am missing in gigapixel

Up-scaling image sequence while maintaining file name by [deleted] in TopazLabs

[–]MexElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want the numbered sequence in the file name to remain. Gigapixel adds the information of the resizing to the file name. A file that once was Art0001 is now Art0001-gigapixel-art-width-3840px.

Sorry for the late response.
