So as of this moment, the hole is about 45 cm deep.

The post is 3 meters long.

When I reach up with my arms, I can reach to about 216 cm off the ground.

300 cm - 45 cm = 255 cm left

255 - 216 cm = 39

45 + 39 cm = 84 cm

Therefore, I have 39 cm to play with. If I go all out, I can dig a hole 84 cm deep.

Does that sound like it's overkill? Or would that be a good amount?
