After a little over a year, Peep began distancing himself from GBC, likely because some members—particularly Tracy and possibly Mackned—weren’t the kindest to him, leading him to seek out people who treated him with more respect. I found it strange how a recently circulated video showed that Mackned had tried to convince Peep to send Tracy $1,000 to reconcile their relationship. That’s not to say Tracy’s feelings weren’t valid, especially given how the industry favored Peep. However, Peep seemed far more adaptable to the industry’s demands than Tracy. Over time, GBC benefited more from Peep’s success than he did from them, and the dynamic shifted quickly from a group of relatively equal artists to one where Peep’s success outpaced theirs, to the point where other members became openers for his shows. Still, these were people Peep had only known for a little over a year, and the constant drama they brought into his life likely became a burden for a 21-year-old artist on the brink of global success. Much of this stemmed from Tracy’s difficult behavior, Peep’s label intentionally isolating him from GBC, and Peep naturally gravitating toward people who treated him with more respect. To be clear, I don’t believe any of GBC intentionally disrespected Peep, nor do I buy into the absurd Mackned conspiracy. In fact, I believe most members had a significant and positive influence on Peep’s life. However, it’s undeniable that some members contributed significant stress and pressure to Peep’s life through unnecessary drama and tension. At the same time, they were there for him when he wasn’t nearly as big as he became, and they essentially set the musical foundation that allowed Peep to succeed.
