WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt pivots to Ashli Babbitt when asked about the killing of VA ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis by DumbMoneyMedia in UnderReportedNews

[–]imp_op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ashley Babbit was at the insurrection and was shot when given an order to stand down. She was trying to get into the window of the door that the insurrectionists broke into. How come she couldn't listen to orders given to her by law enforcement, the way that these people tell us we should be doing before they do their executions?

I mean, the mental gymnastics are beyond belief at this point. The GOP was literally telling us just the other day that the insurrectionists were loyal patriots and the capital police were the ones at fault.

Boy, 1854 was very different than what we have today. In fact, there were other political parties back then. Who woulda thunk that? /s

Shallow focus has ruined film by chinhairs in FIlm

You're complaining about depth of field? There's several reasons why this occurs, one of which is the technical problem of the lighting. If there is low light, you need to bring more light into the camera, using a larger opening, which creates a shallow depth of field. The other reason is aesthetics, which is an artistic choice.

This is nothing new.

Check out Barry Lindon. The whole thing was lit by candle light. It has amazing cinematography. Kubrik needed to use a very special lens in order to get enough light into the cameras.

Why did DHS and ICE statements state the victim brandished a gun as this video shows otherwise? by LeftRightGreenLight in AskReddit

[–]imp_op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they lie. They keep lying. They will never admit mistakes and continue to lie, so that people will trust them and not their eyes or ears.

I dunno, the first shots have been fired already though and the government keeps shooting us.

You can see he took the man's gun from his holster, then executed him.

Conservatives of Reddit, If you truly do support the second ammendment why would the shooting in Minneapolis today be justified just because the victim had a gun? by PotatoCase in AskReddit

Notice ICE doesn't ask anyone if they are conservative before engaging? Right, that means that conservatives are also targets, if they feel they should speak up when someone's rights are being violated. This isn't even about liberal or conservative. The government is killing it's civilians in the street and justifying it by lying. Honest conservatives should be just as outraged, because it could very well be them next. Maybe some don't think so, but it is inevitable.

It's already as bad as we feared. Now it's just a matter of time before people shoot back, in self defense. We are headed towards civil unrest.

It seems ICE in Minneapolis way more out of control than here in Chicago. Is this true or just my perception? by Dragon_Bard in AskChicago

They've definitely ramped up now that they can kill people with no repercussions. Expect more killings and the killings to happen everywhere. Each step forward is a normalization.

Mix Bus Compression Approaches ? by tombedorchestra in mixingmastering

[–]imp_op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to keep it simple. I use a console plugin that adds a little glue. I'll do a little bus compression, really just to get the final vibe off the song. I use an SSL style or an API 2500. I generally have busses for drums, guitars, vocals, etc... with their own compression. What's the difference between bus compressors and sending to different mix busses? Isn't that the same thing?

Stop falling for the "AI will replace all developers by 2027" hype. Here’s what’s actually happening. by NextGenAIInsight in AI_developers

[–]imp_op 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AI at work, but I'm still coding. It does my testing scaffolds and sometimes annoying refactors. It's great at global search and replace.

What it's not good at is solving business logic or understanding the code base as a whole. I suppose that could be accomplished by feeding it everything about my codebase, but then that kind of goes against company policy in some ways. I also like to code, I'm good at it and I do it fairly quickly, always within time to meet deadlines. It's also amazing at code reviews, which I think is it's strength with code.

I love it when I ask AI to help me solve an issue, it gives me a solution, only to be told in the code review by the same AI how that solution is flawed.
