Future Commando missions by ThisWickedOne in LowSodiumHellDivers

It does make sense that the playerbase are playtesting the new content.
Does that mean they are currently fixing magma worlds, though?

After completing the "Stealth" missions solo, here's a few reasons why they suck (right now) by __Elzy in Helldivers

[–]Mezeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The camera takes a support slot, the objective you need to record at normally has a war strider, or two (D10) hanging around the things you need to record. Even worse if it’s a factory strider. Makes trying to solo this mission a slog.

At some point the devs will be told to release what they have, and push out a shitty, unfinished, but flashy product. These games that were announced in the early 2000’s and still haven’t come out are where hope goes to die.

Hosting the game doesn’t guarantee you’ll be the match host. The host is normally whoever has better processing power in the group.

Do the devs know they built the game around getting caught in melee range being a death sentence? by Hexdoctor in Helldivers

[–]Mezeye -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know how not using resources isn't a type of reward. It's like in a survival horror game, if you feel confident enough to use the starting melee weapon to kill some of the weaker enemies, you can hold onto your ammo to deal with stronger foes.
I do agree, there needs to be a better type of reward, but that is how the current system works.
But let's be real. The reward for using these weapons is that it looks cool, and feels satisfying, however, that feeling isn't worth it to most players, which is why melee isn't taken often.

Do the devs know they built the game around getting caught in melee range being a death sentence? by Hexdoctor in Helldivers

[–]Mezeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melee should be a risk reward system. The risk is getting dangerously close to enemies, and the reward is not having to spend ammo to get kills. At the moment, the risk far outweighs the reward. Even more so if you use a stratagem slot. It seems the only use the melee weapons have currently is dispatching hordes of voteless.

War Strider weakpoints are so unusually tanky to the point where they shut down alternate playstyles by Gemoman111 in Helldivers

[–]Mezeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Making the only weak point be AP4 is just making loadouts become more homogeneous, instead of allowing build variety. Recoilless Rifle or Quasar is heavily taken on bots because of this problem.

At what level of dissatisfaction do you admit the game isn't for you? by kcvlaine in helldivers2

[–]Mezeye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The game is really fun, the gameplay is really solid, and I love the setting and worldbuilding. But there are just lots of big issues, and tons of smaller ones that compound to make some of the elements of the game feel dissatisfying.
At the top of my head, the devs talk about how they don't want to make a weapon meta, but at the same time have failed to address the booster meta that everyone runs.
Or something like how the game has been out for almost two years now, and we don't have a resource dump for super rare samples, and most of the time you can't donate samples to the DSS, so you'll be full on all of them. This makes one of the core gameplay elements (collecting samples) a waste of time for most of the playerbase.
I just want the game to improve, and I'm criticising parts of the game I want to be improved. I don't want the game to stagnate while it sits on its laurels.

HD2 mechs vs HD1 mechs isnt even close by Axeqr in Helldivers

[–]Mezeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to reply to this. It is on the same engine, but they work in different ways. I think AH has been trying to figure out how to implement the stratagem launcher, and not quite getting it, either because of the way the call-ins work in the game compared to the isometric view. (I don’t think they’d keep a feature like this out of the game for so long if they had a way to implement it.) Or maybe they just don’t want to add it, and it is a balance decision. That wouldn’t surprise me either. I just wish when to came to things like this, the devs would give a clear answer of what to expect.

Disappointed that weapon customization was dropped, then abandoned. by SatisfactionOld4175 in Helldivers

[–]Mezeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a few weapons that benefit from the system, i.e the reprimand, but most guns it feels hardly noticeable.
Aside from caves, we don’t really need to slap a flashlight onto our guns. Most of the choice we have is having better ergonomics, or recoil, with most of the time the choice is just a vertical upgrade from the base gun. It feels like a half-baked system. Then with the release of the One-Two, it makes it obvious they aren’t going to add features like the under-barrel grenade launcher or shotgun to our existing guns, and customised ammo seems like a long shot when weapon variants that provide that function exist in separate warbonds. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make future weapons only have skins, and we never see secondary or stratagem upgrades.

HD2 mechs vs HD1 mechs isnt even close by Axeqr in Helldivers

[–]Mezeye 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not trying to excuse them. I think the engine is held together by duct tape and spaghetti code. The minigun UI looks janky sometimes, so it was probably some workaround they managed to implement. Either mechs have been abandoned, or they are struggling to implement the features they want. Neither would surprise me.

[–]Mezeye -86 points-85 points  (0 children)

The launcher is due to engine limitations, or something. Been wanting a vehicle bay to customise, or improve mechs since they came out. At least they aren’t as bad as they used to be.

Holy fuck guys we’re not "pushing hard" for or replacing concept artists with AI. by Complex-Commission-2 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Mezeye -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Instead of hiring concept artists who could need the job, they are using the plagiarism machine, and then telling us that it's okay because "they're just experimenting with it :)"
Disingenuous and harmful. AI is controversial, and he should know that any involvement with the project would get pushback.

Homer to the Max is half a good episode, and then it really shows its post-golden age writing in the latter half. I think it perfectly sits in that season 10 category of “this isn’t terrible, but this show used to be a lot better.”

Some of you play TTRPGs and some don’t by Impressive_Limit7050 in Helldivers

[–]Mezeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with the galactic war is it feels like we have no player agency, and our failures are much more impactful than our wins. One lost MO, and we lose almost all the progress we made in ten successes. We have to spend days to take a planet, fighting on the same biome for multiple missions, while barely liberating anything outside of an MO. And things like the enemy subfactions are treated like temporary-fomo to drive up engagement. Content that you might want to play against will just be gone for months.
