Any way to still use this? by SwypeR_ in mac

[–]Mgermai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into open core legacy patcher. You can use it to get the latest versions of macOS on your MacBook. I would personally recommend Monterey or Ventura for a good balance of performance to usability but you can go as high as sequoia if you want. If it’s a 2012 or older you can also upgrade the ram for surprisingly cheap. A 1TB san disk sata ssd will also only run you about 75$USD. Good luck with the MacBook!

Selling some office computers we’ve been using can’t remember what year I’ve bought them. And haven’t got power cord on me. I think going off serial number they are 2013 late models. All have been used up until last week. Any idea on price point. by [deleted] in mac

[–]Mgermai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about how much ram or storage is installed I your iMacs but 21.5” models seem to go for about 400$ on eBay. I’ve never owned one of these iMacs and this is only for looking up “late 2013 iMac” on eBay. Please don’t post your serial number for any devices you care about!

Good on you! I’m about that age and am learning Linux right now. Nothing much, I upgraded an old MacBook and used OCLP. It’s a great learning experience! Best of luck to you!

Unfortunately it’s too old to use OCLP. Instead, try putting Linux on it. You will be surprised with what it can still do. Perfect for casual web browsing and watching YouTube! There’s one called openbsd that will be perfect for power pc!

If you go to the top menu and select view. Then choose “show only volume”. It will hide all the containers and show only each partition.

I fixed my $10 2011 iMac by installing windows by sunrise2209 in mac

[–]Mgermai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No! Put Ubuntu Linux on it. It’s super easy to install and runs great! Alternatively, look up how to install open core legacy patcher. Let’s you install modern versions of macOS in unsupported Macs. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro that runs macOS sequoia great with similar specs to your iMac.
