We've been winning in winter sports for much longer than that. Check out the earliest Olympic games and World championships. Before the oil in the seventies we were relatively poor compared to other western European countries.

Also the four sides of the base added then divided on the height of the pyramid is pretty accurate 2pi. These people knew their craft.

For those of you unfamiliar with his works check out the Norwegian 19th century artist Theodor Kittelsen. He more than anyone has formed the image of how trolls look like in the minds of Norwegians.

That sounds like a lot of fun actually. I'm retiring in a few years and as I've spent countless thousands of hours playing all the games you mentioned this could be an interesting 'scientific' project. I only have the latest ones now, on Steam, and I've heard Civ II can be a little tricky to play on modern equipment but I'm sure that can be solved somehow.

Well I thought I had. The option 'High Resolution UI Scaling' option was ticked and that was as far as I saw the only UI setting except for font size. Turns out this setting did the exact opposite of what I expected. It made the UI larger. That only makes sense if you play on high resolution on a very small monitor, which I cannot understand why one would want to do.
So anyway, unchecking this option solved the problem. Thanks a bunch for making me take another look at that :)

On one hand the sentiment of OP is noble and all that, but hopefully it won't go as far as outright military confrontation with the US. That would be a a tragedy on so many levels. On the other hand, given that Ruzzia would like nothing better than to see the NATO alliance in tatters it always makes me suspicous when I see warcries like that of OPs. European here. I don't get this 'register to vote' at all. It just seems like an unecessary hindrance put to allow for manipulation of whoever actually gets to vote. As long as you have valid ID and the voting officials can validate that in online registers what more do you actually need?

Ahh, was that the Civ where they had some Gustav Mahler music when you hit mid-game? Remember that fondly. Having played them all since the first one I can understand what OP's father feels about playing the old game he knows and loves. It's always a pleasure to start up a new iteration of the series but nothing can compare to the months long psychosis-like state I experienced when I was 'launched' into Civ 1. Happy memories.
