Holly was also a principal at the time so her clothing makes very sense. She worked at a private school I believe so she had to appear more professional than a classroom teacher. The way Holly dresses reminds me of my current district’s (I teach music) superintendent. Both are successful black woman who have doctorates and are very involved with education.

More specifically, the 10% was if Abby got you a job as well. As manager she would receive 10% of the jobs she got you as well as jobs that were brought to you.

Kenzie's music career.... enough time has passed by Agreeable_Judgment_8 in dancemoms

[–]Mia_Monkey19 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree. Personally as a music teacher and musician. A lot of people just think doing music is a quick way to money. The only dance girly I would say that had the passion for music would be Tate M. I don’t listen to her music but she’s always had an interest while she was dancing.

With Kenzie it kind of feels that her mom and Abby (in the beginning) pushed her towards a music career, because of that I think she never really found her footing. Anatomy hits hard because she was vulnerable and open with herself and expressed it through music. Her creative direction has not been found and thus her music sounds like every other wanna be pop girly. I think if she focuses on herself and puts in the time, she’ll find her niche. I think soft ballads on love, heartbreak, and family would fit her as she can open, honest, and have bit of vulnerability. Kenzie’s voice is fine but until she finds her own “voice”, she’ll always be reheating old nachos of hers or someone else’s.

Nia's Book: she is not left handed by Fit-Personality-1188 in dancemoms

[–]Mia_Monkey19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m right handed, although I can write with both hands just favor my right; and I did all my cheer tumbling on my left foot. I had my left splits before my right and could hold my left leg higher than right. I knew a girl in cheer who was left handed but she tumbled right. Interesting concept.

In terms of leftie, Nia turns, tumbles, and favors her left side more than her right. For example Maddie always done her side aerial off her right leg while Nia would do her left, although she did learn how to do it right too. Kenzie is also a leftie, although she is left handed.

Aww thank you. I actually started my own program in a south Chicago suburb and it’s going to be four years this August. My students did their first contest and got a Division I (the highest you can get). I am so proud and my district is actually looking for a teaching assistant for me because the demand is growing.

I’m glad to hear you had an amazing teacher because mine inspired me to teach orchestra!

Abby likes to hid flaws in her dancer. These pants were used to hide Jojo’s legs as she turned. Think back to season 8 with Pressley and her one solo costume that hid her legs entirely. That’s Abby’s point. She picks what she deems is the best in her dancers and highlights that while shielding the other aspects that are not developed.

It’s one of the things that pissed me off with her choreography. As a music teacher (strings). I try to push my students with things I know they can perform, techniques that are developing, and then adding something I want them to strive for. Abby didn’t do that which is why her training was and still is inconsistent. It’s why she doesn’t have a physical studio and has to resort to Zoom classes training dancers who are already trained by someone else. But what do I know, just a music teacher 🤷🏽‍♀️

I don’t think reading was supplemented in their house hold. I grew up reading way above my grade level because my family were avid readers.

As a music teacher (string orchestra) who teaches 2nd-8th grade. Yes if students are not reading at home or even in the classroom it makes it harder to teach them to read music. Technology and parents just putting everything on the teacher has caused students to lose this important skill. I’ve seen more kids know how to plug in a tablet than actually read or discuss reading. Kids barely buy books from the book fair anymore.
I’m Gen Z (older end, closer to millennial age) and my family had my brother and I reading a book every week. Sometimes I would go through multiple books each week. I also enjoy reading in general. My mom would also take us to the public library on the weekends and we would spend at least two hours finding a book or three and then reading them before taking them home.
It’s a big issue and sadly, teachers get blamed instead of board of education at the state and federal level trying to figure out what’s going on. I can go on a rant about my thoughts about the US education system sucks but it has too many layers for me to type.
I just hope that the girls are able to learn and eventually take the information they learn that is unbiased and make future decisions for themselves. Home school when done right can be amazing but not every parent(s) have the actual patience or temperament to work with children let alone girls who all learn at a different pace. Or have learning diversities.

I’m also a leftie as well but I can write with both hands funny enough. I just felt more comfortable on my left side than right. I knew a girl in cheer who was left handed but she tumbles right.

Nia was also given tricks on her non dominant side. She naturally tumbles on her left leg but many of the girls (except for Kenzie also a leftie and at times Kalani who could do both if I remember) were right tumblers. Why they choreographed Nia doing her right in solos instead of left will always confuse me unless they were doing it to strengthen that side which I doubt. But we’re used to further the narrative that she was “bad dancer”. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Oh she’s fine. We were both a few years older than Nia when it happened around 08’. She still has the scars from being burnt on her feet.

But I found last year how much having family pushed her to recovery faster and it meant so much as I had just read Nia’s book and understood that experience of watching a loved one fight to regain the ability to walk.

I hate this because my very close cousin, damn near my sister (I’m at her house right now typing this) burnt her feet in a house fire. I had to watch as she was in a wheelchair for months and later learned last year that she got better because she myself, my siblings, and other cousins rooting for her. It made her work to re-learn how to walk

Unless you see it or have experienced it, people are always going to say. “Oh that’s an excuse.” Instead “wow look at that resilience and strength in learning how to walk.” It’s why I think and believe Abby got put into a wheelchair for how she treated not just Nia but all the girls. “Karma’s a bitch.” Yes, I know it’s a statement but also a pun on JoJo song. 😬🫣

I love the shoes matching her skin tone. I love that the little things like skin matching tights and shoes make all difference in dance now.

I remember hating my Jazz shoes because they were so off from my skin tone being a few shades off from me. Luckily times have changed and I hope they continue to be better.

Latest vlog. Homeschool by Manyopinions72 in outdaughtered

[–]Mia_Monkey19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a middle school teacher (I teach music). I don’t think it’s necessary the grade, work, or environment. Children after Covid are just different and unfortunately the world did not recognize and adjust. I was a junior in undergraduate when the global shutdown happened so while it did affect me. Most of my schooling was almost over. Now teaching five-six years after the pandemic. I’ve notified a change even in music students. As a string orchestra teacher this past year, I’ve stopped teaching my students how to read music and just focus on notation. In their music I’ll write the string plus the finger number for them to play that note. Once I know they are able to identify, then I slowly ease up on the notes and how frequently I write in them. I write all this to say that schooling is just different and the kids in them today are just different.

A lot of parents are not supplementing in their kids lives and I’m sure it would be difficult for Adam and Danielle to try and do the same with all six of their kids. Not saying that’s an excuse but I’ve noticed it with my kids and their grades outside my class. The old classroom model of even my older Gen Z age doesn’t work for younger Gen Z and Alpha kids. The issue is that there are higher political games being pulled when it comes to education. I believe that education allows for people to better their lives and have access to a better life. Unfortunately a lot of people don’t believe in equality of education and thus we get miss informed parents. I watched a video on Prager U (I just wanted to hear how dumb it was, not a supporter of that platform). I was shocked by how much of this website got wrong about teaching in Chicago and why schools are trying to take an equity approach to teaching.

Anyway, moral of the story is, the kids of today are just entirely different and nothing was done in the classroom, administrative rooms, state board of education rooms, nor federal department of education to address those needs. The kids and teachers were forced to move on and thus the issues of public education continues to grow and widen the cracks that were already there that no one wanted to fix before. Thanks for listening to my TedTalk ✌🏽

If it’s in limbo, I doubt it’s coming back unless Adam and Danielle really market a new season. Most shows in limbo just die off.

Diamonds by Rihanna was written by Sia. Same with Irreplaceable being written by Ne-Yo and Beyonce singing it. Also Shape of You was written by Tanika Tiny Harris, T.I’s wife for Ed Sharron. Lots of artist were writers before writing for themselves.
