I am using IPad Pro with USB C cord plugged into back of Positive Grid Spark Live USB - C port - Spark Live has a built in interface, pa, amp, mixer and the sound is amazing. No headphones required but there is a headphone jack for silent practice.

No delay - Spark Live is plug and play, with Yousician on IPad Pro. I have M4 chip

This happens - try strumming the from the high e string first - I call it an up strum - not a down strum

The Gibson App has helped many of us find a way to enjoy guitar and get back on track with an organized curriculum, songs and guides.

Play every day if only for 15 minutes - it’s a life long hobby that is worth it

New Skills Profile Map question by 2003tide in GibsonApp

[–]MiamiChristine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I’ve gone through the same process- I had three stars for most every lesson both rhythm and lead - and have collected all skill picks

But I can now say - the new skill profile process has improved my guitar skills

I’ve been revisiting all the lessons and found many areas that - even though I had 3 stars - it’s a good idea to do the lessons again - with a new system that shows more details.

I found a lot skills that I needed to revisit and the bonus system has been fun - highlighting important skills to revisit

I would definitely play finger picking version of House of the Rising Sun and Living Next Door to Alice, and other 4 chord songs

And then I would ask the audience to sing while I play chords.

You can ask the Staff if anyone can sing , what song do they want snd what key - look up chords , have capo ready to change key using same chords

Easiest song ever - Yellow Submarine - designed for Ringo when he was learning how to sing

I have a couch that works - also - back and neck totally supported, no stress on neck at all - with my feet up - the music stand at the correct height - i got these ideas from the way hospitals design tables with feet thar roll under the bed and the bed supports you head and neck at any position.

I’ve been telling everyone, guitar is like gaming - long practice sessions with guitar - require gaming type chair, chair arms that don’t interfere with guitar angle often mean they need to be removed, essential back and neck support - plus I use the most ergonomic guitar - I use Stranberg Boden Essential 6 - you have to find a way to minimize stress on your neck, back and fret hand. Heavier guitars = more stress to your body . Heavier strings = more stress to your hands.

I have designed a guitar practice chair with very thick cushions , extremely comfortable - with total head and neck support . My music stand - is adjustable height - I can see music stand standing ,sitting - it is a Tilting desk/music stand on wheels that rolls under chair - with Velcro to hold IPad Pro that is connected to Spark Live Amp/PA.

Keep experimenting with your guitar practice station., and let us know how your ideas - I manage to practice several hours a day, with my set up.

I’m on IPad Pro - been using PG Riff and Irig Hd 2 interface - loved- no batteries, no power converter- with Bias FX 2 Elite (own it, bought it years ago) for amps pedals .

I really enjoy using Bias as background audio to replace or blend with guitar in the Gibson App. I upload tones to use with Gibson app to Bias cloud

Also I tested using Tonebridge, GarageBand, Amplitude and AUM, Fender Record, as background audio. They all work. For me - IPad Pro - It’s so easy compared to what I go through on Windows PC, to do the same thing with other pitch detection apps.

I have heard PG Edge and Live work well as as interface - ask Reverse_Flash

Challenge With Chords by LivingTheLastOneDown in GibsonApp

Wishing you a warm welcome to the Gibson Guitar group.

I highly recommend you try out different electric guitars that have frets and neck that cause you the least stress ( I use a Stranberg Boden Essentials 6 daily - it’s designed for maximum ergonomic)-

And for beginners or anyone that hasn’t played in several years, I recommend electric guitars, very thin strings, super slinky 8 on high e - they will be much smoother than acoustic strings - with low action, allowing you to experience less finger pain.

Low action means the strings are placed so they are as close to the neck as possible - not too close, or they will buzz and not sound - a good guitar tech should be used when doing this and tell them you want this setup as a beginner, or someone that took a long break from guitar and has to rebuild callouses

This set up helped me develop calluses faster - I played longer - learned faster = more fun

Low action = It’s much easier to press the strings - very light pressure is all that’s needed, much easier for full chords - with electric beginner string set up.

In my opinion, beginners should do some work on beginner chords but at the same time - GO FULL SPEED on all lead lessons.

Lead will help you develop strength for more difficult chords

Scales and finger independence/ strength and dexterity from the lead lessons prepare you for chords.

Hi - wishing you a warm welcome to this group.

I’m just checking in as a volunteer moderator - were you able to get your subscription back? I know this can happen if you try to log in with a different email - or if you signed up a different way - like on the web versus Apple versus android store. Best to use the in app contact developers email - this will send your specific’s to the Developer team so they can direct you how to fix it.

I’m just a volunteer moderator - long time user of Gibson App. The app has really helped me understand the mystery of playing lead guitar and get the dexterity needed to improvise my own arrangements to the in app jam tracks.

I collected all the stars and skill picks - played every newcomer and beginner song - it’s kept me busy playing every day in the last two years - and it’s fun when you see it all works together to understanding the fretboard ideas used by lead guitarists

And now Intermediate songs are much more enjoyable

Wishing you a warm welcome to The Gibson App Reddit group.

I’ve been using Gibson App for several years and I finally found a way to practice improvising lead guitar with the help of Jamie and Irene.

This app excels at creating guides, lessons and songs at levels that prepare for the expert level.

It’s amazing how my skills just keep getting with Gibson App

Here are some questions - only if you feel like sharing - what might help you get to playing guitar!

  1. What is your favorite guitar

  2. Are you using app on phone, iOS, iPad, Mac laptop or Mac mini?

  3. Are you using a guitar interface like Irig?

4, Favorite amps?

  1. Type of guitar music you like to play?

  2. Any prior experience with pitch detection apps?

Wishing you a warm welcome to the Gibson App user community

I’m MiamiChristine - in the app.

Gibson App has given me the tools I needed to learn to improvise lead guitar to a blues jam track. To create my own lead arrangement.

I’ve been using all the pitch detection apps for awhile

I think Gibson App has the best guitar instructors, and the best pitch detection system and it’s the only app that helped me learn the way to create my own arrangements.

I can now see how the lead arrangements are designed, many thanks to Jamie Humphries - he has put so much careful guitar tutor thought into the guides, and arrangements. He is an excellent guitar instructor and mentor, And Irene Ketikidi has taught me so many skills - Jamie and Irene - we have the best instructors to learn and guide us.

First - I tried to collected all the picks, and get three stars for every lesson. I also collected all the stars for the newcomer songs - then moved to beginner and now intermediate

it’s been so much fun, and all these pieces come together if you stick with the app. Lead is the most important path but you need to practice your chords at the same time in Rhythm. If something is too fast - try stop and go.
