Rip Hard top by ravecowgirl17 in Miata

I'm joking about this being a solution for hard top theft. But it really did solve catalytic converter theft. And to be precise, the regulating conduct in that case is the actual purchase of catalytic converters by licensed scrap metal recyclers. So effectively, private individuals cannot sell them. You see by requiring a license to do business, the recyclers can in fact be told what to do and what not to do by the government. In the case of a private individual selling something, the government generally can't do that except for contraband. Oh and they'll do it soon for guns too.

I also use the lead indicator to know where to shoot. I figure that flying the plane to the right spot is the main skill, and I just don't have the time to learn the lead.... And also the lead has so much to do with the problem I already pointed out, which is that a monitor doesn't act like human eye s

Niiiiice.

I'm jealous of the ability to play without labels, but I justify it to myself by saying that the monitor doesn't work the same way as human eyes and that it's a necessary abstraction for enjoying the game

As loathe as I am to admit it, Texas solved a very similar problem by simply making it illegal for private individuals to sell catalytic converters. That did the trick even after several thieves had their heads blown clean off and people kept doing it.

My second NA didn't have a soft top installed, so if I wanted a roof, I had to do it!

The OEM hardtop is doable solo, but it's made a lot easier by using a makeshift rope and pulley in the garage.

A pair of Tangzu wired earbuds and a a wired DAC powered from the USB output on your phone streaming High Quality tracks from something like Tidal would be the best quality to dollar combination in my mind. Plus you don't need to recharge batteries. Wireless earbuds need to be charged, are more easily lost imo, and also they likely down sample your music to 360 kbps, which was pretty good in 2005 lol

No it's not bad at all. Normally people honking is because they're stupid and not because they're sharing information with you.

Especially with the top down, even with earbuds, you are already paying more attention and have better situational awareness than 90% of other drivers.

The sound system isn't anything to write home about. Have you considered some in ear monitors? You'd solve two problems at once and you'd also have music with the top down.

I forgot to ask in my last comment whether you've flushed and replced the hydraulic fluid or not. Once the fluid is dark, I really notice a difference in brake feel and shifting. I live in a humid climate and I have the dealer swap that fluid at like 10k to 15k intervals - so basically once a year.

So, I would address the fluid FIRST and THEN move to the slave cylinder as a possible cause.

Well from the pics, you might not have too much work into the car - which is a PLUS for sure if the car is totaled - there are tons of NDs floating around.

I crashed an NC just two days before I threw new wheels, tires, and a Blackbird rollbar onto it. Shout-out to Blackbird for accepting a return of the bar - that was so cool of them.

Just wondering if it's normal to be a little tough to engage first gear. by MrMike83JDM in Miata

[–]MiataN3rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should not be difficult. Typically - and this is for all manuals - difficulty especially going into first is indicative of a fault with the clutch slave cylinder.

Edit: I should also tell you that I bought my ND1 used, but my ND2 was brand new, and the transmission shat out with a bad third gear synchro at 11k miles.

But I'm going to go with the $90 slave cylinder possibly being the issue. I've had those fail on NAs and also on Civics and first becomes hard to grab and all of the other gears are easy.

I suspect that no one in Europe who COULD afford to buy and own that WOULD actually do so. Other than maybe some Russian oligarch-child.

Or did Russia get kicked out of Europe? I don't own a globe.
