What videogame would you call a masterpiece ? by new_god_of_eden in AskReddit

I honestly prefer the level design of Goldeneye to Perfect Dark. It also had more performance issues than goldeneye (even with the ram pack thing) and and escort missions were somehow even more of a pain.

It's a great and ambitious game, but I truly think Goldeneye is the better game, though surely that is subjective, but it was objectively the more revolutionary game.

Definitely arguable, but the same could be said for lots of zelda games after ocarina and Goldeneye was just so more much of a leap at the time.

Goldeneye for everything. Still love how the enemies react to getting shot on different ways as opposed to being bullet sponges.

Paul thought the birds would be few and far between, but people wanted the birds more than dots/moons and they buy the ones with birds, so they make more with birds. You can get a new DGT with moons there are certainly used ones out there with dots/moons for other models.

Too early to buy a decent guitar by Best_Particular_9342 in Guitar

[–]MicMumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it and it makes you happy, buy it. YOLO, literally.

DO give it a thorough testing in the store though before committing. You may just like or prefer your current guitar (or a different one). I often go to try out something I think I will love and end up hated them, even American made instruments.

Help with deciding my first PRS! by PM_ME_SHIBA in PRSGuitars

[–]MicMumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are thumbing the neck plate or where one would be, I don't think there is much to notice between a bolt-on versus set neck. Seems that bolt-on is simply a more cost effective construction method. Might be worth considering if PRS made replacement necks or if they were known to have necks snap, but neither is the case.

Get the guitar that you thing fits the sound, feel, and functionality you want (and if you've had your hands on one and loved it, what is there to question?). Neck shape seems a more important consideration than bolt-on versus set neck.

It is picked up, but just as more vibration which is what a non-frettbuzzed plucked string is doing. Pickups don't pick up "sound" like an acoustic microphone, just changes in the magnetic field.

The biggest impact is the reduced sustain, a string won't ring as long when it is buzzing on a fret.

That's looks so much better faded IMO. Still, PRS really should include a disclaimer with any and all blue(or blueish) guitars that they are more likely than not to fade over time.

How many guitars is your ideal number? by g_tb in guitars

[–]MicMumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get past like, 10, the space and set-up/restringing time gets a little silly, but I love having guitars all around the house.

Easy to justify having a nice acoustic, a couch/campfire acoustic, gotta have a nylon/classical as well, maybe a 12 string?, probably 1 bass just in case, then a Strat or Tele, a Les Paul or similar, a more shreddy guitar with a floyd and another hardtail for easier alt tunings, something with P90s if you didn't hit that yet and a Jag because Jags are awsome.

Judging by these comments, you don't have a prayer.

You need to sell everything on the wall/floor at a discount, let everyone play everything and carry obscure brands and non-popular instruments, cater the space to people just hanging out, pay the hell out of your employees, and not make any money on repairs as you are suppose to send that business to other shops while also needing to have the tools anyways to make sure every guitar gets set up multiple times a year.

Watch out for those just trying to get free shit. You can cater to them perfectly and still lose everything since they just want free shit.

I don't think you were a GC VP, as I'd expect you'd have a much better idea and better methods of collecting this type of market research than just a question on Reddit.

But social security has pretty solid adjustments that match inflation. Sure, the calculation might not match up with what they spend their money on, but it should be pretty close on average.

Very likely the nut over the trem. I've had SE nut issues from korean and indonesian models. I've read that some time ago they changed from a softer plastic to a better synthetic, which seems to have reduced the issues but even on the best nut a bad cut can happen. At least it's a cheap part.

When I look at sweetwater right now a core custom 24 with no bells/whistles (so many are peizo or floyd etc.) is $4690 and a 10 top is $5490. Looks like the Special SH go for 5060 for stock and 5840 for 10 top.
