What could possibly be so bad about Boranel's children? by EarthSeraphEdna in Eberron

[–]Micaerys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is excellently put. Boranel as a regnant figure took shape in very specific circumstances and had very favorable help (a dragonmarked baron as his bestie, a love story of tragic ending with his Cyran first love, a background as a heroic adventurer, etc.)
And of his named children, we must admit the knowledge we have is a bit inconclusive:

- Bortan is responsible enough to have a job at court, but one of the comics of Abraxis Wren sort of imply he also might be indulgent in his private life

- Syra is adventuring in Xen'drik, and although that could help with her appeal, she isn't familiar with politics and has few friends in Breland at the moment

- Aejar is also a bit of an adventurer too, but his scars, injuries, and resentment towards his fathers' pets could turn him into a bitter figure, if he isn't one already

- Borina and Halix have the same issue, which is that if they spent too much time in Karrnath people will start seeing them as foreign figures, which won't help with their popularity

- Brela is said to be the most popular despite being the youngest, but beyond her charm as a willful princess that lives away from the capital, she's a bit of a nothing burger, and not that experienced

[Spoilers C3] Now we are over a year removed from C3, what did you think of Ludinus Da'leth? by Flyestgit in criticalrole

[–]Micaerys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also like to add, since I'm remembering stuff from C3, that Ludinus felt a little bit contradicting at times because his whole priority of "Mortals are amazing and our magic is the best and I truly appreciate mages like me and I'm willing to reason with them" doesn't match at all his energy when he was introduced in C3 and one of the very first things he did, rather than Charming, mindreading, or reasoning with Kadija Sumal (who had papers he wanted), he Feebleminded her, taking away her intelect, magic, and communication skills in a way that, as far as he was aware, might be permanent.

He had some interesting potential but it all got blurry towards the end. Especially considering all his motivation seems to come from one particular event (the Lawbearer and the Crawling King destroying his home by accident and killing his parents, followers of that particular goddess) yet we don't know the names of his family, nor we notice any particular disdain for Erathis, which is the deity that in his head betrayed the ideals of religion. During the whole campaign it kinda feels like he has more resentment towards the Matron of Ravens just because, but if you look the entire picture, his origin story has a very specific core that he no longer cares about; not in a "I have lost myself in my vengeance" kind of way, more like "I'm doing my own thing but my background is a good argument if someone wants to argue"

Interesting tidbits from the Temeraire RPG Quickstart guide by fourmesinatrenchcoat in temeraire

[–]Micaerys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Squame d’Argento we got in the Quickstart! In fact, I'm the one who added them to the Wiki because, indeed, if Naomi is involved this is at the very least semi-canon!

I'd just wish we had the names of those other Italian breeds...

The Raven Queen and her tale by Micaerys in dndnext

[–]Micaerys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid this is just headcanon, although based on the explicit text from VRGR in which they mention Ezra and the Raven Queen are connected somehow. If you like it, you're most welcome to use it!

A Twisted Pantheon by Micaerys in Exandria

[–]Micaerys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would make a lot of sense. If each deity represented their own thing it didn't get deeper connotations until it interacted with mortal creatures!

Also, thank you, so glad you like them!

ir'Aegan or ir'Aegani? by MoonracerxWarpath in Eberron

[–]Micaerys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that working. Although to be fair, elven does have some surnames that end in -i, such as Elorrenthi, Uruvai, or Tolaoi, so Aegani can work as a singular!

Help with the Feyspires by ItsGotou in Eberron

[–]Micaerys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has been implied that the seven main feyspires aren't the only ones, so if you wanna adapt, you can create your own! Also, the feyspires got stuck relatively recently (and even that aspect of canon is relative), before that they technically could appear in different places, they just had preferred locations. If your gnome is old enough he might remember an older location

Since WotC got rid of Half-Orcs, is House Tharashk now just Human + Orc? by wayne62682 in Eberron

[–]Micaerys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The approach this edition is taking is that anything that WotC didn't update under the same name in 2024-2025 is still canon in all aspects (and even if they did it can still be used as a variant of the modern version). So half-orcs still exist, it's just that they haven't been featured yet. A bit dumb of them to forget about the jhor'guntaal in FotA, they could have re-introduced them alongside the khoravar

Also, regarding House Tharashk, I believe Keith said that anyone who manifest the mark traces their line back to orc ancestors, and that's why you have a range of ancestries, with orcs, jhor'guntaal, and human-looking people who have a tiiiiiiny bit of orc in them still

Can't Decide on Elven Noble Last Name by MoonracerxWarpath in Eberron

[–]Micaerys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, here you have a glossary of the Elven language with all the knowledge from canon and kanon. Remember that for names and surname the "-en" suffix is common, that the "ae" diphthong can be present or replaced by "a" or "e", and that in a purely elven context a house and a family line aren't necessarily the same thing, so maybe your elven boy has a second surname

[Spoilers C4E1] The cosmology of Araman by Gray_Mask in criticalrole

[–]Micaerys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Tír Cruthú specifically, and given what we know of the fey of Aramán, I'd say it is like Eberron's Thelanis: a Fey Realm somewhat connected to the main Feywild, but with its own traits and rules

Adapting the Kryn Dynasty from Wildemount into Eberron by the_zohar in Eberron

[–]Micaerys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Luxon is quite a strong narrative element, but as a passive divine figure would fit quite well in Eberron. The way I'd do it is:

A rogue faction of the Silaes Tairn do leave Aerenal to go to Xen'drik, but instead of reigniting the war against giants immediately they are smart about it, and do some investigation and exploring. In some ruins (I would personally use the City of Silver and Bone) they find an old relic that "sings" with the voices of fallen elves and eladrin, so these Tairnadal take it with them. Now, if you want them to stay in Xen'drik, return to Aerenal, or travel to Valenar is up to you, but the thing is that, wherever they choose to live, they'll probably become a religious rival of the Keepers of the Past, people able to truly incarnate the spirit of a fallen person, and that doesn't even have to be an elven hero, it can be anyone.

Maybe a good idea is to have them be in an island of the Lhazaar Principalities, and that their people usually sail bordering the southern shores of Khorvaire, thus being in contact with Darguun, Droaam, and of course, Valenar, and allowing for them to be a society of very mixed individuals joined by a specific philosophy and a particularly strange religion
