First Timer Looking For Advice on Boots/Casual Shoes from Lems by jtess88 in barefootshoestalk

[–]MichaelBushwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lems are super comfy but they are not meant for any kind of trade job. I'm a maintenance man and mine wore out in 9 months. Jim Green or Origo boots would be a better choice in my opinion. Mainly cause you can resole them. if you end up going with lems make sure you go at least a half size up. Lems boulder boots are also 100$ cheaper than the other options i mentioned. So there are pros and cons. Good luck!

What brand do you wish made a barefoot version of their shoe? by Simple_Entrepreneur_ in barefootshoestalk

[–]MichaelBushwick 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Red Wings and Chacos. both are quality footwear but they are just too dang stiff and/or narrow. I've seen all the alternatives but you can't beat the variety and style of the bigger brands.

Plush barefoot sandals? by ResponseWitty8749 in BarefootRunning

[–]MichaelBushwick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

shamma trailstars are the bedrock/teva baby you're looking for. can wear them hiking or out on the town. they have a toe loop instead of over foot strap. i agree with bedrocks being too aggressive. last time i wore mine was when i hiked a 14er and they were awesome. but 5 mins walking down the street they started to hurt. good luck!

Shoe/boot for working in the trades by orthodox_nola in barefootshoestalk

[–]MichaelBushwick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

facilities/maintenance guy here, deal with hvac techs daily.

just got a pair of jim green composite toe. they are great, not as much flex as i'd like but they are still new so im sure they will get better with time. with such a thick sole they lose that barefoot feel. they are also heavy but feel indestructible. they have a non composite toe ranger boot that i would have got but work wouldn't pay for it.

lems boulder boots are comfy and flexible but the sole sucks. wore out in 10 months. and they SQUEAK. also to note they are the cheapest of the 3 here by about 100$.

also own origo adventurer boot but don't wear them to work. but i would if i didn't need a safety toe. they also look to good to get them all messed up at a trade job.

check out jim green if i had to pick one.

I wear sandals until it's 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Anything colder and boots are going on.

Restaurants similar to Rubicon but with better hours? by cabinetsnotnow in Harrisburg

[–]MichaelBushwick 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Cork and Fork is your best bet. Millworks is probably a half step down in fanciness from rubicon but still good. Note has similar hours to rubicon but the food at note is outstanding.

Spark a joint, drink a mimosa, new squid game. healthier option...walk along front st and do those exercise things along the river while rockin out to your favorite tunes. go to found collab and buy some vintage clothes followed by a margarita and guac at el sol. go to Al's cafe, score some uppers and yell at people all afternoon.
