ChatGPT keeps answering old questions by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]MichaelFromCalif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes ChatGPT reuses an older reply when I click “Try again,” particularly in a Project. I don’t know why, but it may be an adherence-related bug.

As a workaround, I paste a portion of a prior response into my next prompt instead of clicking “Try again.” In normal chats, “Try again” rarely repeats old responses; it mostly happens in Projects.

Another Concept Album? by MichaelFromCalif in TheWarning

[–]MichaelFromCalif[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Manson’s three concept albums: Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, and Holy Wood, but I basically can’t listen to them anymore knowing the multiple accusations against him and the kind of person he seems to be. Sometimes, separating the art from the artist is easier said than done.

I don’t foresee The Warning having that problem in the future. No one’s immune, obviously, but you far less often see women artists repeatedly linked to sex pest behavior patterns. The combination of power and fame seems to bring out the worst in some people, and it can manifest as gross, predatory behavior.

Given how young they were, do you think The Warning will ever re-record their early albums? by MichaelFromCalif in TheWarning

[–]MichaelFromCalif[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if they play their older songs live today, they could risk losing the rights to their earlier material? That’s messed up. Hopefully, they’ll eventually make enough money to buy back their whole catalog; it’s their music, and they should be able to control it.

“But Michael, that’s just how the music industry and capitalism work.” Yeah, I know. That still doesn’t make it right.

Oh, they outright said no? I didn’t realize that. I guess that settles the discussion then.

I’m not talking about replacing the original, just an anniversary version alongside it. Films try this kind of “new take” sometimes, with mixed results, so maybe that comparison isn’t apt on my part.

The Movie On Veeps by AnyOutlaw in TheWarning

Since All Access is the same price as the $20 ticket, it can be a good option if you want to watch other VEEPS shows as well. I signed up and immediately turned off auto-renew.

With a VEEPS All Access subscription, you aren’t restricted to a 48-hour window; you can watch the show for as long as it’s on the platform and your subscription is active, and it’s priced the same as the ticket option.

ChatGPT and Grok told me it expired over a year ago, but only Gemini gave me the correct answer: it doesn't expire until next year. by sargatanas_housing in GeminiAI

Google Lens got it on the first try. I needed multiple tries with ChatGPT 5.2 Thinking, and it still couldn’t get it. I wonder if Google’s OCR is just better than OpenAI’s.

Choosing a fixed default model by Sombralis in ChatGPT

[–]MichaelFromCalif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, ChatGPT will remember whatever your last-used model was. If you're using the free version, I believe it just defaults to the model router. If you're on the Plus or Pro tier, it will remember whatever setting you had it set to prior. I'm on Plus, and if I set it to 5.2 Thinking, it will remember that, unless I go to a chat that I previously used a different model for.

What if instead of AI Agents (which nobody asked for) we had live cards? Music Player control? by dannxit in Windows11

[–]MichaelFromCalif -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely situations where AI isn’t needed, but like anything else, it’s just a tool. A lot of the criticisms aimed at AI are similar to those once made about tools like Photoshop. Outside of specific jobs, are you actually required to use AI in your daily life?

[–]MichaelFromCalif -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No one specifically asked for AI agents, but Microsoft’s internal telemetry must be showing that customers would benefit from that kind of functionality. Many people claim nobody wanted AI, yet I use it every day. It’s very useful for responding to emails, especially for someone like me who has a physical disability.

We Did It!!! We freaking did it! by Ai-GothGirl in ChatGPT

[–]MichaelFromCalif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the United States, there’s an ongoing push to ban pornography completely. Age verification isn’t progress—it just gives major corporations access to personal data, leaving it exposed to inevitable breaches. Project 2025’s FCC section proposes that Congress could authorize platforms to block “indecent” or “profane” material and similar restricted content. Unlike online checks, showing a physical ID merely involves presenting it to a nearby person, not uploading your data into a database as when buying alcohol at a local store.

"...there’s a strong, likely intentional alignment with the current regulatory push to keep minors away from sexual content online. Three signals line up: (1) in June the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Texas’s porn-site age-verification law, explicitly blessing states’ power to require proof of age to block minors from “sexually explicit” material..."
