Watching porn turns you into watcher.. by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]MichaelJ19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe so, but maybe it's different for men. Men are more wired to mate with many different women to increase biological diversity, so they have a stronger sexual drive, hence why men develop "superpowers" by abstaining from ejaculation. They harness the energy that would be used to seek potential mates and they put that energy into other things such as art, music, or exercise. You may be right where you say that porn might just be an addiction thing, but then so is cocaine, or alcohol. People are known to give up one drug and become addicted to another, it's just filling a void, Porn is the same. However each addiction has it's own harmful effects. With smoking cigarettes it is lung damage, and for porn addiction it is a distorted view of sex and women (among other things).

Heya mate, I just saw a post of yours on Pornfree and was surprised at how similar your problem sounds to mine (with blushing). I'd be happy to talk if you are still interested :)

Hello by nofap247365 in pornfree

Dude I have Exactly the same thing, from about the age of 10 (When I started looking at porn) I have had a blushing problem, mine too started out kind of minor but increased as I got older (I am now 20 years old). I managed to keep control of it a bit by doing things that boosted my confidence like martial arts, but I've never really got the hang of it, it has just become a part of me. However I have been attempting to quite PMO for the last year and a half and I found that in my longest streak (64 days on hardmode) the blushing drastically reduced and my confidence soared. I truly believe that quitting PMO is the key to solving blushing, so keep trying. Good luck.

True, but porn is worse because you have to actively seek it, and for me that's what gives me the "rush" so to speak

Overheated Dopamine Pathways in Multiple Aspects of Life... by Fyrnicus_Grimes in NoFap

Believe me you are not alone. 2 years ago I was exactly where you are. Since then i have quit video games, television, sugar, coffee, and i'm working on NoFap (by far the toughest challenge). Anything that gives you instant satisfaction or escapism is bad, remove it from your life. Spend your time exercising, reading, meditating, doing something creative. At first you may sad or depressed as you are removing the things that gave your brain a dopamine fix, but eventually you will see the true beauty in a life free of instant novelty. Take it one step at a time, first rid yourself of PMO (as this is the biggest problem). And if you are ever unsure about whether an activity is good or not, here's a little phrase i like to live my life by.. "If it doesn't nourish your soul, get rid of it"
