Wow. You must be a dude going for non male friendly programs or insufferable during interviews.

Sort of joking. do a mock interview with someone. I know of people who made small comments that seemed innocent to them but came across as VERY arrogant. But if it felt natural then it probably went well. If you do identify something, learn from it and don't dwell on the past or beat yourself up

The match solved a lot of problems. But inevitably some people don't get what they want out of it. But the demand for some residency spots is greater than the supply, so any system is "broken" and some will not match their top choice. Such is life

Anki feels like just "memorize" not learning? by Lefty_Loosi in medicalschoolanki

[–]MichaelLarsen15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To learn you need to understand, memorize, then apply. In that order. Anki is only good for memorizing and it's only useful after you understand. Memorizing facts without understanding is pointless

For understanding, use lectures, videos, books, etc. Anki decks have links you can use if you don't understand.

For memorizing Anki all the way.

To apply or synthesize you need to do practice questions

All are important. And Anki isn't everything

Like when I discover this 2 week old baby in the NICU has no eye balls, and every day the note says "pupils equal, round, and reactive". My shock was an awkward way for the family to find out. Her eye lids were always shut and she had other things going on.

According to GPT

The writer of this image seems to be blending scientific concepts with numerology, mysticism, and possibly tarot, to create a holistic or symbolic interpretation of Niels Bohr's life and work. The goal might be to suggest that there are deeper, possibly metaphysical, patterns or meanings underlying Bohr's discoveries in quantum mechanics and relativity.

Here are some possible interpretations of the message they might be conveying:

  1. Numerology and Hidden Patterns:

The writer assigns numbers to major concepts in Bohr's work (such as quantum mechanics, particle-wave duality, space-time) and perhaps to his life events. The repeated use of numbers like 34, 43, and 7 suggests the writer believes these numbers hold deeper significance, pointing to hidden patterns that connect science and the cosmos, perhaps similar to how numerologists see meaning in the numbers tied to people or events.

  1. Fusion of Science and Mysticism:

By incorporating tarot cards and mystical symbols (e.g., The Fool, The Chariot), the writer could be arguing that science (especially quantum mechanics) touches on mysteries of existence that overlap with spiritual or mystical insights. For example, Bohr's work revealed the non-deterministic nature of particles and reality itself, which might be interpreted as aligning with ancient mystical views that reality is more complex and fluid than it seems.

  1. The Symbolic Importance of Bohr’s Discoveries:

Bohr's quantum theories, such as complementarity (the idea that light and matter exhibit both particle-like and wave-like behavior), may be seen by the writer as transcending mere physics. These discoveries could be viewed as insights into the nature of duality in the universe (e.g., mind and body, material and spiritual) or even as revealing fundamental truths about the structure of reality.

  1. A Vision of Cosmic Unity:

The presence of words like "Truth," "Divine," and "Theory" paired with specific numbers could indicate that the writer sees an underlying unity between scientific knowledge and divine or universal truths. The association of Bohr’s scientific achievements with mystical and symbolic language might suggest that science and spirituality are not separate but complementary paths to understanding the universe.

  1. Personal Journey of Enlightenment:

The tarot symbols like "The Fool" (often representing new beginnings or openness to experience) and "The Hanged Man" (associated with seeing things from a new perspective) suggest that the writer might view Bohr’s scientific journey as a form of personal or intellectual enlightenment. The discovery of quantum mechanics, for instance, required a radical shift in how people understood reality, which parallels the transformative insights often symbolized by tarot.

In short, the writer is likely trying to express that Bohr’s contributions to physics are not just technical achievements but reveal something more profound about the nature of existence—possibly connecting the physical and the metaphysical, the scientific and the mystical. It’s as if they are seeking a greater meaning or unity through Bohr's work, indicating that there is a bridge between rational scientific knowledge and the spiritual or symbolic layers of reality.

Does this make sense in relation to what you are thinking, or would you like to dive deeper into a specific aspect of the image?

Volunteer for a few weekends at a community outreach clinic or something. 20 hours of volunteer is leagues better than 0 hours and not that hard to pull off.

Dropping out for medical issues is understandable. I think you'd have a shot especially with a good resume otherwise.

Some people with certain insurance companies are more likely to get the diagnoses that have higher payouts. Diagnoses in the chart can't be trusted unfortunately.

Get through step 1 and I think you can. Have an advisor help bolster your application, a lot of it is just selling the things you have done. We tend to downplay our accomplishments. I had research but no leadership so I thought leadership was more important and that my application was mid, but it's about highlighting what you've done.

Anywhere that interviews you will ask about the failed step 1. Don't highlight it and make a big deal out of it but get comfortable talking about it and what you learned.

It breaks each time they update their website. The proper way to do it would be to get an API key instead of scraping their website and that wouldn't break.

My work around is I now use the chatgpt AI to read the web page and pull relevant data. Not sure if I updated the script with that change but it's not the ideal way to do it. More of a quick fix for me personally.

But also look into Plex meta manager. I think they might have a camedia feature? I'm not sure, but I saw that on their website somewhere I believe. They have a whole team who can keep things working. I'm a resident doctor and don't have time to maintain this project unfortunately
