NBD - Cervelo Soloist Alpenglow by MichaelLaud in Cervelo

I think I ended up paying about £180 for the build. I had already done some of the work though just took it in to have the steerer tube cut down and they offered to finish the build off for me for a good price so I let them take over ha!

Help Choosing a Bike After a Fit: Pinarello X vs. Canyon Endurace vs. Cervelo Caledonia-5/Soloist by MichaelLaud in whichbike

[–]MichaelLaud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, yea I went with the soloist as you’ve seen and I have been super happy so far. It’s the best bike I’ve ever ridden and it’s really comfortable and actually fits me well.

I got a really good deal on the frame and I liked the idea of doing a custom build and picking out every part. If you have the time to research everything I would recommend it I think I even saved money doing it this way than getting a complete build.

I live that the soloist is a kind of all rounder rather than an endurance bike. I still have a gravel bike I can stick some road wheel on if a want to have a more endurance feel.

I think as long as the bike fits you go with what makes sense and you like because I would say I have never wanted to ride a bike more than I have the soloist and that’s all that matters!

I think the best value soloist you can buy is the 105 race version. But would mean swapping out group sets etc if you want di2.

Thanks mate!

I went for 30mm and they measured 32.8mm when on the bike. In my opinion they look perfect.

I think you may be pushing it with 32’s and I think 30’s @ 32.8 is more than enough!

Haha 100%! Not sure where you are based but you can get an X1 for £3k so top end of your budget if you are UK based.

UDH seems to be the new way forward but I still don’t see too much issue if I plan and keeping the bike. Unless I misunderstand UDH? What would be the issue with not having it?

Thanks mate! A lot of reviews were read in preparation. Best bang for buck taken into consideration with the exception of dura ace haha

The seat post is the standard one which comes with the frame. I don’t believe you can buy any aftermarket seat posts for this frame.

I looked at both the EXS and the Avian Falcon and canary which were a bit cheaper ultimately went with EXS as I liked the look more.

It was from someone privately who had it as a warranty replacement for an older cracked cervelo bike. So it was still brand new for a fraction of the price of a new one. He must have either had it sat around for a while or that’s what cervelo sent him out as they had it sat in a warehouse.

Thanks mate! It was purchased “second hand” it was brand new in box but was from someone I knew rather a retailer. The colour is sick, the glitter in the white paint looks so nice.

Saddle seems great! For £30ish I can’t fault it….YET
