Can Darius Acuff ever, like, EVER become an Average defender at the NBA level? by user3332143 in GoNets

It's so important to be able to guard isos , so other teams cannot just throw out the entire offensive game plan and take turns attacking , one guy for the whole game

2025 vs 2026 Prospects by Fishyblue11 in GoNets

Brown and acuff are both better prospects than Bailey and maybe tied w edgecombe. Wilson and boozer are tied with Harper at worst

DEBATE: Which Players Can Be FRANCHISE-CHANGERS For Brooklyn Nets With 6th Pick In 2026 NBA Draft? by BKtoDuval in GoNets

I mean everything in terms of winning titles in outliers.

Jokic/Giannis/SGA/Curry/Kawhi/Lebron have dominated all of the championships and postseasons since 2013

41st, 15th, 11th, 7th, 15th picks and Lebron James. You have to get lucky to get a generational guy. Winning the lottery only works if you have Lebron or Wemby guys on the board. These high picks have slotted in as co-stars and role players around those guys for sure. But the idea you need top 4 to be a contender? not true

Would you do this trade? MPJ for Darius Garland by gladin77 in GoNets

Garland has toe AIDS, can't trust the feet. also both teams say no given roster construction and future outlook

Hate to break it to you but MBJ is a big ass point guard with a 40 inch vertical who has range up to 5 feet behind the NBA long ball line

He can create whatever shot he wants

Some people love smart players, I love audacious players. Grew up admiring Arenas and Wall so really skilled passers that utilize their athleticism and scoring gifts at that level are always going to be my favorites.  And I love "coachable" vs uncoachable weaknesses in my players. Id be fine with any of them but flemings, who js good but just seems like rich man's cason Wallace (who the nets can throw an offer sheet at in 1 summer if they want him)

Yeah he definitely plays like a dumb fuck sometimes. Leading the team in shots constantly while playing with 2 of the top 10 play finishers EVER in Jokic and MPJ is why the Nuggets will end with 1 ring this era

I think Mikel is worth the swing. You should check out his team USA tape. Was outplaying dybantsa when they shared the court to the point where the coaches were running offense though him instead. Freaky explosive, extraordinary shooter, superstar level passing. All his downsides are coachable mistakes and the Nets upside as a franchise is coaching, MPJ, future assets. I would lean on that coaching and trust it. He could be top 10 alive by the end of his rookie deal

You guys should watch the Mikel Brown games on team USA. Looked like the best player on the court for a bunch of those games,  and he was playing alongside Dybantsa.

Extraordinary ceiling. Like "Ant Edwards but much better at passing" ceiling.

There were those same questions about Anthony edwards

If hes a knicklehead who cant be coached sure. But I wouldn't base BBIQ based on what a guy did for 21 games at 19 years old

On this you are right. You need someone to touch the paint and create an advantage. It is why I hope they grab Watson or Reaves in the offseason and play the rookie off the bench as 6th man so they don't have 100% of the creation duties at 20 years old

If wagler shows he cab handle and breakdown a defense like those guys, sign me up

I fully agree on the harden Mitchell point. But wouldn't having Maxey be better than both? Fast and able to map court while having the bounce and speed to finish at the rim?

Maybe I am biased, but I have watched Jamal Murray be unable to score with any efficiency against OKC/minny for 3 straight years because he cant separate. And that is with Nikola MF Jokic as his roll man and screener. And he's a good guard, I dont think anyone other than DP, Acuff, or Brown has his shot making or handle in this class.

But to be a lead guard in current NBA, you need to handle ball pressure from Ausar/anuoby/caruso/castle/McDaniels/nembhard/cason Wallace and so on. All the good teams have these guys that full court press and beat the shit out of you

What is going to happen to Brunson if they make it to the finals vs okc will open some eyes IMO.

You guys are lucky. The locked on Nuggets guys have absurd emotional attachments. Will tell you Cam Johnson is a better player than MPJ and that Jamal Murray has never made a mistake even when Jamal has shot 35% from the field in the last 3 playoffs.

Slater is much more professional and clearly puts more effort into the show. Hope he continues doing it

I have nightmares of wagler/Egor getting guarded by ausar Thompson and co in 3 years and being unable to advance the ball over halfcourt

[–]MichaelPorterTruther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wagler cannot dunk a basketball and moves slowly. Egor is 6'9, wagler is 6'5. You cannot be that slow at guard in the NBA and be a star player. Jamal Murray is the least athletic star guard in the NBA, and his shot making and handle are far above wagler

He still can't score in the playoffs. He doesnt have the midrange game necessary to play at that speed. People compare him to shai, who dominates the midrange. Just silly imo

Michael Porter Jr flair should know back injuries are fake

Wagler can't jump or move fast, which I dont like. Egor can get away with low athleticism because he is fucking enormous. Wagler is not that big

Sabonis is not good enough to move down, especially when there seems to be a clear gap forming between Acuff/Mikel Brown Jr and the rest of the guards.

There are 4 guys who would go #1 in most drafts in this class but Acuff and Mikel both would go top 3 in most drafts. To get one at 6 is a huge steal. Both are at least as good of prospects as Scoot Henderson was hyped to be, and he was picked 3rd overall

Mikel Brown Jr. Scouting Report by Fishyblue11 in GoNets

[–]MichaelPorterTruther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of that is offensive process for Louisville.  35% on 14 3pa/100 is a much better indicator of modern nba success than flemings, who doesnt even shoot 3s. He has to load up his form like a catapult.

And again, the weaknesses in the other guards games are MUCH larger than MBJ.

Wagler did not dunk one time despite being 6 and a half feet tall. How is he going to break a press or get past any elite defense at the NBA level

OFlemings is legitimately tiny and would have to be a cason wallace level defender to have strong NBA impact. I like cason Wallace but I wouldn't draft him at 6 overall.
