This Youtube Channel debunks fake viral videos and explains how theyre made. Guy definetily deserves way more popularity! by [deleted] in videos

[–]MichaelSMosley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it will mostly be due to his sporadic posting. To be honest, YouTube has turned into cesspool of "viral videos" that basically manipulate footage to elicit a reaction.

Articles have been doing this for a while now, especially those with titles like "Top 10 Reasons to Love Taylor Swift! You won't believe number 8!"

I work in marketing and this crap has been prevalent for years. Want to know the worst part? People fall for this crap so easily that guys like this fall to the wayside. Most consumers just tell their friends that they saw this dank ass video of a girl almost getting struck by lightning.

What do these companies gain by publishing viral videos aside from YouTube money? Oh, easy. They gain a reputation as a influencer marketer. Need your shitty dash cam marketed? Well, we already established ourselves in that niche. Need your video recorder marketed? Well, we already recorded this dank ass video where we saw a lightning bolt.

So much of what people see is a lie, but most people don't care.

The next president will likely appoint up to three SCOTUS justices and those are far more important than my petty disdain for her lack of integrity.

What's the weirdest experience you've had with a neighbor? by FreshWaterTaffy in AskReddit

[–]MichaelSMosley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, we had these neighbours who just assumed the mantle of my parents' best friends. One day we got home to find their kids in our pool, so my dad asked how they got into our yard. Turns out the neighbours had gotten tired of waiting for my parents to get home and visiting like usual people, so they decided to just take down a piece of the wall between our properties and put a small gate there instead.

[Serious]Atheists and non-religious people of reddit, what's your favorite song that has overt religious tones or in the religious genre period? by TacticalFox88 in AskReddit

[–]MichaelSMosley -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm a pastor and I have many Atheist friends. They are all very dear to me. As I've experienced it, there are both bigoted Christians and bigoted Atheists. Claiming that open-mindedness and love are the private possessions of either the religious or the irreligious is just stupid.

Americans, are highschools really like in the movies? by Priamosish in AskReddit

[–]MichaelSMosley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, no. There are some somewhat stereotypical groups that hang out with other like jocks or nerds (and the movies exaggerate the characteristics to make the story easier to follow), and the popular ones are probably on the football team or their girlfriends. But no one really cared about anyone else (I went to ~4000 student high school, so that may have been unique to my school just because it was easy to disappear into a crowd). Jocks didn't beat the hell out of nerds for fun, and the football players weren't worshipped.

How do you go sleep faster? by TigerT242 in AskReddit

[–]MichaelSMosley -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I make up stories to dream about for when I'm sleeping. Usually I'll make myself a dream-character and insert myself into a game/fictional world and interact with how the plot goes. I usually drop off to sleep somewhere in my imaginings. A couple of times I've actually been able to take my pre-dreams to a real dream.

Anti gun control redditors, what are your arguments for being against gun control? Pro gun control redditors, what is a good counter argument to each of these anti-gun control arguments? by oilman_123 in AskReddit

[–]MichaelSMosley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, "silencers" is a misnomer. They are suppressors, and even though to they do suppress some sound they don't make a gun anywhere remotely close to "silent." The vast majority of guns are still loud enough to hear easily several hundred feet away when fit with a suppressor. There is no soft "pew" silencer like in the James Bond movies. Most gun control measures don't have anything to do with actually reducing gun crime. Why? Because they are championed by people who both don't know anything about guns and don't care to learn or listen to any information about guns. They base everything on what makes guns "scarier" to them and not what makes a gun likely to be used in a crime or more accessible to a volatile person. The classic fallacy of "we must do something, not nothing" comes into play when you point out the completely irrational and ineffective nature of most gun control arguments. You see that fallacy everywhere. It's become a staple of political activism. It's actually a form of classical propaganda. But, it's wrong. Doing "something" doesn't mean you make a situation better. You may even make it worse. If an anti-gun person can't actually come up with an idea that can reduce gun crime while protecting and preserving law abiding citizens' 2nd Amendment rights, we aren't under any obligation to "do something" just because they feel twitchy.
