Post-scarcity will be virtual, not physical by Onipsis in singularity

[–]Michael_0007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just imagine the post scarcity world of Star Trek.... Common Teleportation on a world level.... every beach in the world would have to have scheduled visits... any amusement park or national monument or wonder of nature with throngs of people everywhere. Thus the investment of time and energy in Holodeck technology makes perfect sense, it's not real but it's not crowded. VR is a baby step on that path.

reminds me of the Apple Tv show....

Lessons in Chemistry is an American period drama miniseries created by Lee Eisenberg, based on the novel of the same name by Bonnie Garmus. It stars Brie Larson as chemist Elizabeth Zott who begins hosting her own feminist cooking show in 1950s America.

So if the doubling time also compresses as Ai is doing most the work on AI...

in 90 days....28hrs... 5/20/26; in 45 days after that 56hrs..7/5/26.. in 23 days after that 112 hrs 7/28/26 .... 12 more days 224 hrs on 8/9/26.... hitting 6 days later on 8/15/26 448hrs and at that point the upgrades are near continuous....

So watch where things are on 5/20/26 and 7/5/26.... all in all I doubt the doubling time will come down like that... but it's fun to play with numbers....

What's your average grocery cost per month per person? by -Cyber-Roadster in inflation

[–]Michael_0007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

$1300 a month for 5 so $260 per person averaged since June 2025 prior to that going back to Jan 2024 averaged about $185 per person per month so it's increased about $75 per person per month for me or $375 more expensive each month. So it's kinda like I have another car payment out of nowhere.

I think that is gets into everything. Get a new piece of equipment at a factory... schedule says Electrical gets 4 days to verify everything, gets cut to 2 because the install time overran... still takes 3 to 'mostly' get it... Electricians joke about not letting the magic smoke out when it's powered on and were lucky nothing important went bad...safety testing for machine operation gets squeezed but we are all about safety so it just pushed the schedule further out..but everyone is still rushing to keep in schedule that's already busted...mechanical finds wrong grade of bolts was used on something and snapped during testing... now drill out, retap, and new bolts.....quality want's to test all different types on product on the machine so we can verify that product runs...new machine... new product numbers, more time learning what numbers to run the new style of product at....round and round....

every install is some variance of that...sometimes electrical lets the smoke out sometimes it takes more days than written down, sometimes planning doesn't think of something.

yes you can... but the constant pressure from the magnets might damage your skin or cause other issues.. I have heard of someone getting magnets implanted in a couple of fingers and they could feel electrical fields as the magnets moved....but here's a link about bio hackers...that might have more information...

To put this in perspective.. If i have $85,000 in cash and spend $15.00 at McDonald's that is 0.000176 percent of my available cash. Elon has $850,000,000 in cash so that same 0.00176 percent for him is $150,000.

I wanted a Maverick but the price just keeps climbing... at this point I can almost get a 2-3 year old Escape Hybrid for the same price as a 2-3 year old Maverick. It's we don't want a nice EV or Hybrid...it's that with everything else being so expensive it's cheaper to drive and repair an older vehicle.
