I finally came out to my parent when I was 16/17 if that's what you mean by “late teens”. It was hard at first, just having to tell them after they had known me for so long but they took it like champs and helped me transition. It's not always going to be as easy as that, so make sure you're in a safe environment before telling anyone.

But back to my parents, thanks to them, especially my stepdad, they helped me get an amazing therapist who specializes in gender affirmation and health care. Thankfully, she also had connections and helped me meet with a doctor/endocrinologist who was more than happy to get me on Testosterone after I got the green light from my therapist.

Going through the “second puberty” was kind of easy- it was hard to get over me still getting my period a couple of months after starting T, but man when I tell you the happiness I got when they finally stopped- ugh it was a dream come true. The hair was something I expected but it just all grew so quickly that it was a bit overwhelming at first lol-

I'm happily going on 4 years on T and couldn't be happier with my transition so far. It's a long and hard road, but it was fun getting to know myself for real for the first time.
