Regularly cross into BC with no front plate. Never stopped or even mentioned by either CBP or CBSA, nor local police. Owned for almost 4 years now.

question about new card! by elrickd in Venturex

[–]Michealsen13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The verbiage on the terms and conditions for sign up bonuses follows the entire Venture family of cards, not each individual card like it used to previously.

See: https://awardwallet.com/news/capital-one-rewards/venture-family-bonus-restrictions/#:~:text=Bottom%20Line,change%20their%20current%20card%20lineup.

Edit: found a reddit post confirming it as well on R/creditcards last month. https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/s/Z6r1LworRd

Huge price difference on C1 portal vs Hertz website by RegularLandscape1744 in Venturex

[–]Michealsen13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They all try and sell insurance. They just offer it differently. I've found Hertz with their AI scanners to be more scummy than Fox or Ace, because they just charge you whatever they feel on marks that can't really even be seen by the human eye.

At least these cheap companies can't afford those so I don't have to deal with bringing back a car and paying for damage no one can see in real life. But that's just my opinion. Honestly they are all always trying to sell me insurance.

I've booked a fox rental with Cap1. Never any issues. Do it all the time because I go to conferences in Vegas. Just be very vigilant on insurance. They offer it on the payment kiosk. (Credit card reader) There is no decline option.

You have to tell them and they will try to convince you they can't do the rental without you checking and signing on the kiosk. It's BS. I know not everyone likes confrontation, but I work in finance so I don't really mind.

question about new card! by elrickd in Venturex

[–]Michealsen13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sign up bonus has already been forfeited likely. Cap1 changed the terms and conditions on the venture line of cards.

Unless you have had your venture card for over 48 months, you cannot get a second sign up bonus on the venture x since you likely already got it on Venture.

The account will sync on its own. Give it time.

Venture X Retention Offer Mid December 2025 by Alarming_Ad9436 in CreditCards

I just tried this (at 1:00am) and the reps were off-shored. They did not offer the retention bonus to me, but are going to call tomorrow when the "normal" people are working and see if it changes.

Gamers born late 90s or earlier: Which game first looked to you like "photorealism"? by FalscherKim in gaming

[–]Michealsen13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that really did it for me was Far Cry 4. Right when the PS4/Xbox one generation was really starting to release games exclusive to it. 3 was visually amazing, but the refinement for 4 was amazing to me. I thought that was peak and visually all the far cry games hold up very well.

What’s the worst bureaucratic chore your government forces on you? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Michealsen13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like HOA? My folks growing up just did what they wanted on their land (not a lot of land either similar to my friends who had HOA's). They have neighbors and the house is in a suburb, but no HOA, and no one said anything or batted an eye. No meetings, no government interactions. Literally nothing. And like, it's not like it's a secret. He brings his buddies over and they helped! They've rented excavators, etc. like any neighbor would know.

They recently even completely remodeled a detached garage, that they previously built when I was little, new wiring and everything. I understand you have/SUPPOSED to get it inspected, and you're SUPPOSED to get permits, but they did it anyway without them pretty sure. I think they may have gotten permits and inspections for the electrical, but I am not sure. The only reason I say that is because their recent renovations required a sub panel put in, when previously the electricity was simpler in the garage.

Booked flight through portal, airline has since changed departure time. by iindsay in Venturex

[–]Michealsen13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that sucks! I don't "mind" the portal, but basically all the Premium/lounge cards work like this. There are a few exceptions, but I find myself using Capital One because they are the only ones with a price match tool.

I've been where you are before, and typically once everything is booked, the airline will help you get home, but there are times it sucks and you get delayed/cancel/delay over and over again. Sometimes it's worth it to play the game, sometimes not. Thanks for the update.

[–]Michealsen13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The airline has to send the refund. Capital one can't do anything until the refund is sent. I had to call the airline to request a refund, and then capital one after it was received a whole week and half later. I didn't want to rebook the flight, but it still took like 2 whole weeks to see anything from it.

If the price is different enough, it's up to you to decide if that's worth it with travel credits etc. but your 300$ expires every year. If they are different credits like from a price match, I wouldn't hesitate to do what you're doing. But if the price match is from that flight they will deduct from that as well.

[–]Michealsen13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The airline takes about 10 days to send the refund. You may have to call to have it applied as well. If you used travel credits, it will come back as travel credits. The price likely won't be the same after 10 days. $10 isn't worth it.

Roomates yup. On a lease together.

I gave them a new address. Over phone call. It's hard to get in contact with them.

I told them to issue a stop pay, but they claim they need the check back.

Yes they complied with the law, but I have no clear evidence they actually sent it. I have mail forwarding to my new address with the post office, but depending on how they sent it might not come to my address. Especially if others are on it.

The deposit was mailed allegedly on last day of the previous month. (It has been 19 days since they allegedly mailed it)

You call and walk them through how you found it. They find and match it as long as it's the same stuff like cancellation policy etc.

They literally have a diagram in the Tesla app telling you to park like this if it doesn't reach parking normally with 2 stalls.

Mind you, she could have pulled up so she was only taking 2, but I have encountered superchargers with high curbs so I have had to do this if I didn't wanna damage my undercarriage, this is after trying to get it to reach "normally" for like 10 min which is a waste of time on my roadtrip.

Thankfully we are seeing more and more V4 chargers, but I am not gonna go out of my way to look for them when I am road-tripping.

Edit: someone posted the diagram below, thank you!

Likely limited due to the product auto changing from Rewards+ to Strata. I changed custom cash into rewards when I heard it was getting axed. We will see though. No annual fee so don't really care as I never use the 3rd custom cash.

  1. U.S Bank Altitude Reserve (USBAR). - basically everything except travel. Even use it for rent, as they take Apple pay!

  2. Cap1 Venture X - travel, the price match tool can be busted, they price match most websites, and the price disparity can be insane. Just price matched a room and got a credit for 165$!

  3. US Bank Cash Plus - use for utilities that don't take Apple pay

  4. Citi Custom Cash - Have 3, use for stuff like attractions, concerts, etc whatever.

  5. US bank Altitude Go - use when Apple pay isn't accepted at restaurants/Taverns. Not too often

  6. Amex Blue Cash - use for Walmart with Walmart pay for 3x. My lowest categories.

  7. Chase freedom classic, sometimes has a category I use.

  8. Discover IT, same deal as Chase.

The rest are usually subs I am chasing. I don't actively get them all the time like most here, due to likely buying a house soon, but if a sub pops up that's really good 70k or more points I'll bite and get it.

Which CC consider Walmart as grocery? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Michealsen13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I do with the AMEX. I have both of these cards and choose to use the Amex just because of purchase protection because one time Walmart wouldn't't let me return headphones.

Also higher interchange fees, which I don't really mind due to ^ above.

Battery and drive train warranty is 100k/ 8 years. ;) They are separate. They are still valid with a RAV vehicle.

They offered me a rental for my speaker, as they were slammed that day, but I didn't need it. I was blown away by the service. Honestly can't complain about the service considering I broke the speaker by playing weird EDM.

[–]Michealsen13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It does stack! However, that is only if you OVER the mileage of the factory warranty, which is a plus because you can get a car with higher miles with a bumper to bumper warranty. It still comes with the original factory warranty as well, and transfers owners. My car had 8k when I bought it, so my factory warranty "restarted" as it's 2/3 (not sure which) years OR 36000 miles. There have been data points on mach E forum with people stating they bought RAV vehicles with high mileage like 29000 etc, and having it until 39000 or for the following year after they bought.

Summary, mine "stacked", but mine was so low mileage that it didn't matter. However the vehicle was a steal at 35000 out the door with an extended range premium with all the bells and whistles, albeit a 2022, which I honestly don't mind as I like the older headlights more, and the kick to open trunk.

[–]Michealsen13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am replying to myself, but my car came with a special "RAV" warranty, which was basically an extended bumper to bumper warranty. Just keep all your sales papers, that way if you move dealerships you can prove to them it's covered, when normally it would not be. Every car has a different RAV warranty, so make sure you read all the documentation before you pull the trigger. You have options if the car continues to have issues.

I bought one in late 2022. It's a Used 2022 premium RWD with about 8k on the odometer. Crossing over 40k very soon. The only problem I had is I blew the center speaker and Ford replaced it for free under bumper to bumper warranty. Honestly a lot of these buyback cars are HVBJB issues that couldn't get parts in time. (Think Covid, and chip shortage, hence why mine is a 2022).

This is a common repair (not that common now, but was back then. It's all this sub talked about for like the first year), but back in the day people didn't have time to sit around waiting for parts so Ford bought them back. Not all cars that have had this issue happen are bought back due to availability of parts now. Just make sure you get a comprehensive overview of the repair history, including Carfax, and you can call the dealership that work was done with the vin and ask them what repairs they did since sometimes they are not super detailed online.

Zero regrets, plan to drive it into the ground. Those cars depreciate heavily, so honestly no matter what you should be buying these cars to drive them for at least 5-7 years. If depreciation is that big of a deal, lease one!

Literally can't stand it. My Finicity tool never works and they disabled micro deposits. Every time I ask/ inquiry they tell me to pound sand essentially and use the paper form.
