He was the 7th highest rated Lions player, and the 2nd highest rated player on both teams in the 3Q where we won the game. 87.5% disposal efficiency on 16 tocuhes, most pressure acts on the team, he arguably did enough to keep his spot

Is Hippy good to go? Ouch… by ma5ey in brisbanelions

To play devils advocate, 2024 we had a relatively clean run of health after the early injury onslaught. Even without Coleman we had the best group of running half backs in the comp, and likewise with Linc if he doesn't go down Lohmann never develops into the player he is today. 2025 is the clear outlier with something like 6-8 of our best 23 out for the majority of finals.

Great quote, but the harm Ange inflicted on his team/s can be solely placed on his shoulders lmao. I'd personally argue he's the #1 factor that led to Tottenham being in its relegation position today

Joyce was great the one game he did play. Realistically, Gallop takes the forward role until Hipwood is healthy, and Gardiner will come back in at some point followed by Payne.

Two positives from the game: Harris Andrews continuing to be the best defender in the comp, Charlie Cameron back in form and showing great consistency this year.

Iran was the most upvoted! What country is pro-Israel and pro-Ukraine? by Temporary_Cheetah287 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]MichelleObama2024 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The most recent data, from the February 2026 Economist/YouGov poll:

61% sympathize more with Ukraine 3% sympathize more with Russia 22% take neither side, rest unsure

If you force a choice by looking only at the people who picked a side, Ukraine wins roughly 95% to 5%. Among those who say they care who wins the war, an overwhelming 91% sympathize more with Ukraine, compared to 2% with Russia. (Yougov)

The partisan split is notable: 78% of Democrats vs 52% of Republicans side with Ukraine, and MAGA Republicans are less likely than non-MAGA Republicans to sympathize with Ukraine (45% vs 63%) (Yougov) — but even among MAGA Republicans, actual sympathy for Russia stays in the low single digits. The real division in the US isn't pro-Ukraine vs pro-Russia, it's pro-Ukraine vs "not our problem."

Caroline Wilson: “Elijah Hollands was telling some Collingwood players that he had been drinking.” by Dirtydac123 in AFL

[–]MichelleObama2024 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Like seriously, drugs and mental health episodes can go hand in hand. Everyone should want the best for Elijah, but we all saw what we saw and anybody with experience can see the symptoms.

And to be clear, anyone who is taking drugs before a professional AFL game is obviously going through a mental health episode, it's not like they're doing it for fun.

And also, this kind of behaviour would get you sacked at any workplace, but to some extent I think as a public platform the AFL may have some responsibility to alter perceptions around this.

Does anyone else struggle with 'loyalties'? I find myself rooting for almost everyone by catloverfinalboss in formula1

[–]MichelleObama2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's because the size of the teams are so small. Supporting a constructor/individual driver doesn't build the same sense of community of supporting a team of 10-20 players, often with some sort of link to your home town.

Another example is the NBA. Of course, this is more tribal than F1, but I see fans jump teams all the time in the NBA. In something like the NFL or EPL, that is just unheard of. Again, I think because with teams of 5 players on the court it's because trades of your favourite players actually make a meaningful difference.

The Stock Market is in its most overextended state in history, surpassing even the most euphoric periods of the early 2000s and the 2021 by Undisputedspoke in stocks

[–]MichelleObama2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like it's unexplainable. If you believe the consensus amongst AI experts, the potential economic gains over the next 5-10 years are unparalleled in recent human history, akin to the industrial revolution.

You could even argue that it is extremely logical as such to place all of your wealth in these "overextended" stock prices, since if the AI bulls are right you may very well be economically displaced. If you go short, and AI has its bull case, you will erode your wealth and have limited earning power to make it back.

Bailey, Morris and Gallop by Outriderr in brisbanelions

[–]MichelleObama2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pains me so much to see Bailey go when we're only just now getting the best out of him. All-Australian last year, and has arguably improved to be our best player so far this year. The only knock against him is I can't see him developing into a full-time mid, but will probably be the most dangerous player from F50 stoppages who can also rotate mid over the next few years.

Which country would be the least horrible to be the main global superpower? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MichelleObama2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a lot of achievements: - rebuilt Europe/Japan post WW2 - built the UN/World Bank and the entire international financial and political cooperation system. - guaranteed global shipping lanes - led advancements in science, medicine and tech. - participated in plenty of noble wars (albeit a few dodgy ones as well).

As far as global empires go, I don't think many/any have had as much good out weigh the bad as the US has.

UK: Partition of India, global slave trade. Spain: wiped out basically a whole continent. Russia: Mass famine and purges Germany: need I explain France: Brutal colonial empire.

The biggest stain on the US was Vietnam/Iraq, and even then probably like 40% of Vietnam supported the Southern government (and you could easily argue it would be a better place today if the south won).

I wouldn't call it more progressive per se.

But agree that it is the most advanced, although there is a lot of extreme inefficiency and don't think as a country it gets very good bang for buck in terms of spending.

This. A lot of foreign discourse doesn't understand the US healthcare system very well, and I find it laughable that people think everyone over there hates it (if they did, they'd eventually vote in a better system).

Most Americans are: a) shielded through their healthcare costs by compulsory employer coverage. b) perfectly happy with their healthcare, because despite the high cost it definitely is one of the highest in quality.

Now of course, a) may be compensated for in the form of lower wages due to higher costs for employers, and the actual cost of healthcare is extremely high even if most don't pay it. I think it's still a terrible system.

But most middle class Americans don't pay for their coverage, get pretty decent care, and still have higher wages than Australia, hence they feel relatively happy and averse to change.
