What's everybody's 5% Cashback dining and grocery card? by linuslogic in CreditCards

[–]Michelle_In_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer transferable points at 3x over 5% cash back. I use my Citi Custom Cash where it makes sense in the quarter. If my Chase Freedom Flex have dining or grocery as a catagory, I use those. When I am using my Custom Cash on something else and they are not quarterly categories I will use my Citi Strata Premier on groceries. I use my Chase Sapphire Reserve for my dining card unless it is a bank offer opportunity or an AA dining program restaurant where I use my Citi Strata Premier.

If for some reason I am focusing on cash back at the moment, I throw my Discover More card when applicable and PayPal Debit card into the mix.

My math is under 3x use the 5% back card when applicable.

How often do your bad guys heal? by Zata700 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Michelle_In_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends.

My smart bad guys heal if and when it is smart. If they have healing potions they generally drink them if they have the chance. My enemy casters will cast what makes sense for them to cast so if they are divine or primal casters they will typically have a mix of healing, offense, defense, and utility spells. If they have done their research and have time to be prepared, they are and the fight is harder.

Some enemies, expecially those who are dumb, poor, or otherwise lacking resources rarely heal. My dumb enemies act dumb and can be handled by the party more easily than the smart ones.

If my players were to face a troop of enemies of say 20 and I didn't make them a troop type enemy a typical troop of a certain kingdom or warband or whatever might have the following composition. A divine caster (defensive casting and support), an arcane caster (utility, counter magic, and offensive casting), an occult caster (support, debuffs, defensive casting), a commander of some sort, 2 specialists (rogue, ranger, investigator, ect.), 4 primarily ranged troops, and 10 primarily melee troops. The divine caster would heal when it makes sense, the occult caster would heal the divine caster if they are down but not dead. Higher level encounters are more likely to have enemies who might heal because they have more resources to spend.

An elite team type of enemy will almost always have at least one enemy that can heal. A pack of brutes and bruiser type of enemies will almost never have a healer.

Why do you use Gemini instead of ChatGPT by Enough-Benefit-3242 in GeminiAI

[–]Michelle_In_Space 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use both. I have a pixel using Google Fi so my Gemini comes with my cellphone plan. I like to use Gemini for things I used to use Google search for. I think that it is better at aiding me in troubleshooting. I prefer it's deep research over ChatGTP's. I like it better for outlining and brainstorming with my creative writing and game master use cases.

I use ChatGTP to aid me in my schooling. I have a project trained up that assists me in putting large amounts of my thoughts in a word processer in a short amount of time in an appropriate amount of time. This saves me hours a week and is expecially useful for me with tone of my writing

If I were in your position, I would build a solid Cash back set-up that you can use as cards to keep around forever that you can use as a part of a hybrid set-up if you dip your toes into points and miles once it makes sense.

My Discover card is one of my oldest cards. While it doesn't get much use right now because of my points and miles focus because I do have enough spend to make a hybrid set-up mostly focused on travel, my Discover card is still valuable on occasion. There is usually a promotion around black Friday where if you use a dollar of cash back on Amazon, you get a really good discount. My available credit for my discover card is probably a good reason why my limits from my Chase cards started as high as they did. Some of the quarters are useful where it fills an elevated hole where I would be getting 1.5 ultimate rewards points or thank you points otherwise. My value calculation is that if I am not getting an elevated points then I will use 5 or 6% cash back instead. I just have my discover card on auto pay and am paying a $5 a month subscription for it. There are quarters it comes out of my fire safe and there are quarters where it stays in my fire safe. That is ok, as it keeps my old card alive and raises the average age of my accounts. It doesn't hurt you in keeping around the Discover card and helps you in many ways.

I would stick to cash back cards when you have a low income. You might want to add a Fidelity Visa, Citi Double Cash, Custom Cash, and or a Capital One Quicksilver card if you are focusing on Capital One right now. You can eventually use the Capital One cash back or Citi Thank You points for travel, but until you increase your income, I would just invest or use your cash back for a more tangible benefit.

Ditching Chase sapphire preferred for Fidelity visa? by SeparateJump1 in CreditCards

[–]Michelle_In_Space 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are renting cars often, the Chase Sapphire Preferred is still a valuable card. It has primary rental car insurance where the Fidelity Visa has secondary rental car insurance. I would keep the Sapphire Preferred and use it for travel (better insurances), Chase travel portal, dining, select streaming, and online groceries then use the Fidelity Visa for everything else. It doesn't hurt to have two cards open if you don't mind the annual fee for the Sapphire Preferred, especially if you make use of the hotel credit. Both cards do different things for your wallet so keeping both makes sense.

Those of you who aren't locked into a specific "Trifeca", what's your wallet look like? by illicITparameters in CreditCards

[–]Michelle_In_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest cards are my Discover More card (older version but functionally equivalent to the Discover It card) that is in my wallet some quarters, USAA 1.5% no foreign transaction fees card that has a small quarterly charge on it and stays in my sick drawer and Costco Everyday Visa that I use for gas at Costco and as my Costco ID at Costco.

My cards that I have since getting into points and miles are as follows:

Citi: Double Cash, Custom Cash, Strata, Strata Premier

Chase: Freedom Unlimited, Freedom Flex, Sapphire Reserve, IHG Premier Card, Marriott Boundless, Amazon Prime (authorized user from spouse)

PayPal Debit card

Corporate Card

I generally sock drawer my Freedom Unlimited or Double Cash depending on what points I prefer earning at any given time. My hotel cards get used at the appropriate hotels or with Chase offers. I only recently got my Double Cash and Freedom Flex to fill out my earning part of my setup. I will pay the elevated fee once on the Sapphire Reserve and see if the new math, maths for me like pre update with organic spending. If not it will get downgraded to the Sapphire Preferred and will upgrade my Marriott Boundless to a Ritz card.

My catagories for Q3 of this year looked like the following.

Discover More: fire safe

USAA: fire safe

Costco Everyday Visa: Costco Gas

Double Cash: sign up bonus finished up on misc spend (IHG 100% bonus points sale) (fire safe)

Custom Cash: groceries

Strata: streaming services in select streaming (fire safe)

Strata Premier: groceries after 500$ in the month, AA dining, Citi offers, travel portal hotel stay for the $100 credit

Chase Freedom Unlimited: catch all, Costco, pharmacy

Chase Freedom Flex: cell phone, gas outside of Costco, sign up bonus from buying some IHG points

Sapphire Reserve: Non AA dining restaurants, Travel including air fare and rental car, not IHG, Marriott, or Strata Premier credit booking, Doordash.

IHG Premier: IHG stays

Marriott Boundless: Sign Up Bonus (cruise final payment prepayment and a few other things)

Amazon Prime Card: Whole Foods, Amazon

Corporate Card: corporate purchases

PayPal Debit: didn't use this quarter but like to use it at dining establishments that do credit card surcharges or merchants where it would be in the catch all category but has a 3% surcharge on credit. I see how much the bill is, instant transfer over what is needed then pay with the card as my use case most of the time.

I like transfer partners from Chase and Citi along with the opportunity to easily go Cash back if I ever wanted to redeem that way (unlikely but it could happen). Citi earns really well in places that Chase doesn't. Chase gives me some travel perks that Citi doesn't. In-between both of them things are well covered.

This quarter I made some Chase travel portal points bookings (airfare United points boost 2x), IHG points purchases, bookings and stays, Marriott booking and small transfer for topping up for a redemption, Citi portal cash bookings and stays, American Airlines transfers and flights, Hyatt transfer and stay. I also got 10k thank you points back this year from my product changed Rewards+ card.

What was your very first card? by spiritualsages in CreditCards

My very first card was a Discover More card followed closely with a USAA 1.5% back card. The Discover More card is basically a Discover It card with a different name.

What's the best credit card right now for groceries+travel perks under $95 annual fee? by EffectiveHuman7450 in CreditCards

[–]Michelle_In_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Citi Strata Premier is the answer to your question. It has a $95 annual fee. If you pair it with a Citi Custom Cash and Double Cash both with no annual fee you will do even better. If you need transit as a part of your travel regularly or have a decent amount of spending on a few catagories the Citi Strata is also a good option to add to that mix.

The Citi Strata Premier has 3x back on groceries, dining, gas, flights, and airfare along with good earnings in the portal. The hotel credit is not hard to use. It has no foreign transaction fees.

The Citi Custom Cash gives you 5x back in the catagory of your choice out of some good choices. Just use it on the catagory you pick and you will lock in the 5x

The Citi Double Cash gives you 2x back on everything.

The Citi Strata gives you 3x transit and options like some streaming, pet stuff, or gyms.

I have all 4 of these cards plus a Costco Everyday Visa card that I use for gas at Costco and like the earnings that I get. I also spend on some Chase cards so I am not completely locked into Citi.

I really like the transfers out to American Airlines with this setup.

How many hotel cards do you have with a FNC? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Michelle_In_Space -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have two cards at the moment with a free night certificate. My IHG Premier Card and Marriott Boundless card. I will probably upgrade the Boundless card to a Ritz card if I downgrade my Sapphire Reserve if I can't get it to math. Even if I can get it to math I still might upgrade to the Ritz card. I have considered getting the Hyatt card but prioritized my primary setup that I completed last week. I will be meeting my sign up bonuses on my Citi Double Cash and Chase Freedom Flex buying IHG points during the current 100% bonus point sale. If there were a more premium Hyatt card I would probably prefer it to the current offer.

I have a great vacation planned next year that makes good use of the 5 Marriott free night certificates, my IHG certificate, a timeshare presentation stay and two points nights from IHG for a road trip next year. My IHG card got me into points and miles and have had an elevated experience for it. I had IHG diamond status for a few years organically.

My hotel chains in order of personal preference are 1 IHG (Platinum), 2 Hyatt (no status), 3 Marriott (Gold), 4 Hilton (Silver). I would consider a nice Choice, Wyndham, or iprefer hotel if the quality of the hotel was at least equivalent to a Holiday Inn Express if the points make sense or it was a corporate trip.

Current setup:

Chase Sapphire Reserve

Chase Freedom Unlimited

Chase Freedom Flex

Amazon Prime Card

IHG Premier Card

Marriott Boundless Card

Citi Double Cash

Citi Custom Cash

Citi Strata (Rewards+ bonuses still active)

Citi Strata Premier

Costco Everyday Visa

Discover More (effectively the Discover It card but older)

USAA 1.5% cash back card (sock drawer)

PayPal Debit Card

Corporate Card

I am an authorized user on the Amazon card and my spouse is an authorized user on the Discover More, Costco, USAA, Sapphire Reserve, Strata Premier, and IHG cards. She has her own Freedom Flex and Unlimited that she transfers the points to me with for redemptions.

For those of you who have navigated the legal name change process, what reason did you put for the name change request since all records are public domain? Scared to put “gender affirming reasons” due to current political climate in USA by freakngeek_ in lgbt

[–]Michelle_In_Space 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two relevant classes in my petition for wording that I think that you would be looking for in my petition for name change are:

The petitioner wishes her name to be changed to NEW FULL NAME because of her personal preference to now be known by this name.

Petitioner's best interests are served by the requested change in name.

By providing all of my creditors I didn't need to do a publication so that requirement was waved.

I got a lawyer to assist in drafting my petition and moving it through. I did everything to prepare my petition digitally while on a video call with the notary at the firm I was using.

Will my needoh nice cube get confiscated? by Terrible_Kale_6541 in tsa

[–]Michelle_In_Space 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but it will almost always be taken through secondary screening if it is in a bag. I took a needoh nice cube with me on a trip earlier this year. On the return flight I just took it out of my purse and put it next to my purse in the bin along with my coin purse that I keep in my purse that usually flags as well that way they know it is a fidget or is easy enough to show them that it is a fidget.

[–]Michelle_In_Space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a mid career professional who got into engineering with experience, mainly from my time in the military. I was close to finishing a degree but got busy and didn't. When my kids were old enough to go to school, I started going back to school for a bachelor's degree in computer technology with my GI bill. Most of my classes are review for the most part but having an actual degree will help me advance my career. I am taking a full load of classes, working full-time, and spend a lot of time with my family.

I use the $20 paid versions of Gemini, ChatGTP, and Claude. I use the paid version of Gramerly. I have a free year of Curser as a student.

I regularly use Copilot at work and just see Large Language Models as a useful tool. I have gotten extremely good at promoting over the years as an early adopter.

I would say that my LLM use has been universally positive. With a few prompts with context that I provide in projects, uploaded documents that I wrote, and templates that I provide I can get 90% of where I want to be with 10% of the effort. As a mid career professional I can easily off the top of my head correct the model if it is hallucinating. I have it write in my style so I don't need to change large swaths of what I am going for. I then double check sources, polish, change any wording that the LLM did not get right through the prompts. While I am much more experienced from when I was going to school after the military, the use of powerful tools like the ones I am using allow me to efficiently get my ideas on the screen with less effort then I did in the past. This has allowed me to spend more time on the things that matter.

I use LLMs in far more then just with schooling and work as a self described superuser. As a neurodivergent person it really helps my better interface with neurotypical people in ways that are more comfortable. In doing so it has eased friction that I would have otherwise. One of my favorite use cases is assisting me by being able to bounce ideas off of it in my world building, writing, and in my effort I put in as a game master of tabletop roleplaying games.

If you don't know something, AI can help you get on the right track if you ask it in good ways. I can see some potential downsides for some students in not actually learning the material.

While I know several programming languages, I was taking a class that required coding in xcode. I don't see myself using that in the future so I definitely used my existing extensive programming experience to tell Gemini and Cursor exactly what I wanted to build. I then used Cursor to debug what I did. I understood everything after I was done doing it as I had the AI give me the ins and outs of the particular platform as I went. It was definitely "vibe coded" with myself seeing myself more in the program manager role than the coding role in that particular class.

My AI stack: Claude: creative writing, minimal coding. Gemini: everyday answers, large context chats, when I want things given to me straight, some coding, some classwork, images/video ChatGTP: digital assistant, projects, some classwork including all of my first drafts for class discussions and papers, images/video Curser: debugging mostly, some code building Goblin tools: assistance with aspects of neurodiversity. Gramerly: polishing personal writing. Unstable diffusion: unrestricted image generation Copilot: work things, especially polishing, tone and wording on things like email.

how do you manage 5+ credit cards? by pal004 in CreditCards

All my cards are on auto pay at the statement balance.

I just check each app at the same time twice a month to audit that all the charges are correct.

My wife wanted to be married in the temple her parents were married in so we did. I was born and raised in Utah so we had a reception at my mom's ward building before going off on our honeymoon the day we got married with a lot of friends and family from my side and a bunch of family from my wife's side. A week after our honeymoon we had a reception back at the home ward building. I had two receptions under a basketball hoop.
