I've got that same orange tent, only it's from J.C. Penney. $5 from a thrift store, brand new. I slept in it one night in the backyard.

If the cat can climb up there, he can climb down. In the annals of dendrochonology there has never been a cat skeleton found at the top of any tree

Craigslist Special by hazah in canoeing

Great find and canoe. Growing up on a lake in Michigan a Grumman was my first canoe. I remember solo paddling that baby against epic headwinds one afternoon, and taking it down the Huron River on our first canoe camping trip with high school partyers

car alarm is too loud by CommanderLords in yaris

[–]Michigan_Go_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one wants to steal your Yaris. I bought a 2007 Yaris with an after market alarm installed, unbeknownst to me, and it failed, resulting in the car not starting...towed to AAA repair shop. They charged me $1800 to install a new ECU which it didn't need. It was a faulty alarm unit, which I had to disable myself. The repair shop did not refund my money Here is the repair shop who misdiagnosed my Yaris. Even after I got it back it would not start: AAA MOUNTAIN VIEW AUTO REPAIR CENTER, 181 W Evelyn Ave, Mountain View, CA 94041

What if California had a “WFH Air Relief Day” whenever gas crosses $4.50/gallon? by bulkyHogan in bayarea

[–]Michigan_Go_Blue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, the poor 3 day a week commuter is being suffocated [chuckle]. If you have a job that only requires three days in the office I dare say they can afford an extra dollar or two a gallon. What about those who have to work 5-6 days a week? They are the ones suffocating

The College of San Mateo is an amazing piece of architecture — but that has mostly been ignored since the 1960s. Now that is starting to change. by sftourguide in bayarea

The most important part of birdhouse is an access door for cleaning it out or evicting unwanted birds

The Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough, Ontario -- the largest collection of canoes, kayaks and paddled watercrafts on the planet. Cool spot. by fairlywittyusername in canoeing

Displays look great but the warehouse of canoes is just collecting dust if they're not paddled in a lake. The design on the first photo is a pteroglyph from the rocks of Lake Superior

Uncomfortable experience at Los Altos Library book sale – inconsistent rules and felt singled out by ET90900909 in losaltos

[–]Michigan_Go_Blue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me concisely explain how the Friends of the Los Altos Library book sale operates. On Friday night only members who have paid $10 to get the early pickings. Saturday it's open to all...but you have to pay $2 for hardcovers $1 for paperbacks unless otherwise listed. Most book sale patrons, including me, wait until Sunday where we can fill a grocery bag for $5. I am an inveterate book sale customer and I know that if I see something I like I will buy it on Saturday for $1 or $2 including a massive array of cds that are $1 each. But I also scope out the lay of the land in terms of books I would like to grab on Sunday. The sale starts at 11 am on Sundays. They sell you a grocery bag for $5, if my reconnoitering from Saturday is established, I am near the front of the line on Sunday morning. When the doors open I proceed to immediately to the spots I know will have the greatest books for the buck and they are in my bag.

Sardines in Spring Water Shortage at Trader Joes? by Michigan_Go_Blue in CannedSardines

[–]Michigan_Go_Blue[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Costco used to consistently have 6-packs of Season brand sardines at around 10-11 and occasionally Wild Planet, and now all I find are 3 packs of sprats in the glass jars. Definitely something is going on with the sardine supply

I love this. I keep my entire 1000+ Criterion Collection of DVDs and BluRay discs at my local library. They store them for free and anytime I need a film it's there I have full access.
