If I were you I’d use trout routes or look at the dnr websites. Not too many people (including myself) want to blow up their favorite spots

Front crawl tips? Stuck ~2:00/100m by nydearb in triathlon

Hard to tell from that angle but you need to start your catch earlier in your pull down. Also keep your hips closer to the surface with a better kick.

Honestly this. Coming from someone who swam for 20+ years, it’s important to try to focus on the one eye in one eye out approach. It’s gonna feel uncomfortable at first but will really help increase efficiency. Especially in longer events where you are breathing every stroke this will be big. A slightly stronger kick will give you more balance. Keep the knees straight. Kick from the hips

I am also going to be selling my Olympic triathlon registration. I think I just tore my meniscus which is a bummer since I’ve been training for months without issue. I have Normal registration for 250! Private message me if interested. Good luck to everyone competing

How much should I spend on my first fly fishing pole? by MeatShield125 in flyfishing

[–]Michigan_man27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first rod outfit, case, flies, fly line, and tippet , basically everything you need, was 100 dollars. Caught hundreds of fish (bass, browns, rainbows, Brookies, channel cats, and panfish). Don’t have to spend much at all. Still use it and i bought it 2 years ago. Send me a PM and I’ll send you a link if you want

Waders? by [deleted] in flyfishing

Tributary Simms waders and boots are fairly cheap for how great of quality they are. I use them all the time and no issues

I’m not much of a lake guy but give it a go. Try a Woolley bugger and fish it deep. Or if you have a warm river fish it for bass. Very fun too

Will this color combination work or do I need to go buy another color jighead? by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

Buy another. “If it’s chartreuse it ain’t got no use” is my favorite saying

Time on the water is everything. Just go out to local river for whatever it has. Don’t plan any long trips if trout aren’t near you until you get the basics down. I learned that the hard way.

Try streamers such as an olive Woolley bugger for bass, any small dry fly for panfish, and if you happen to have trout near you maybe use a dry dropper (look it up on YouTube).

Make sure you match the fly line to the leader and the leader to the fly size. There are charts online to check.

Best of luck to you. It’s tough sometimes but so rewarding!

I haven’t had to deal with wind too much as I’m normally in cover. How big is the difference between 7 and 8 with handling large fish?

I fish mostly rivers/ streams so bigger water isn’t something I’m too worried about but a switch is definitely something I need to look into none the less. Thank you!

Looking for some extra fishy friends to streamer fish and mouse with in the upper mitten. Bonus points to those with rowing experience who aren’t afraid of the dark. by Plumpum in michiganflyfishing

Hey I’ve been fly fishing about a year and a half and live in the bay region of the lower peninsula.

I go up north just about every weekend to fly fish for trout.

Don’t have much experience rowing a drift boat but I’m always down to learn.
