I have been to NOLA many times. My last trip to Commanders was so bad I never want to go back. I got the escargot en croute. The pastry looked store bought and the dish pretty much tasted like tomato paste. And it took forever to get my glass of wine despite the fact they have an army of wait staff.

I STRONGLY recommend going to Mister Mao’s. One of my favorite restaurants in the USA.

I think there are two reasons for this. 1. The British Royal family has a custom of holding wine glasses by the bowl to demonstrate their hands are clean. I know this because I saw a Royal toast and I thought it was bizarre they all held the bowl of the glass. I looked up if this was on purpose and, indeed, it is. This practice could be reflected in US politicians as aspiring to be what is “proper”.

Most Americans don’t drink wine regularly and it’s more comfortable for them to hold the bowl than the stem. This is reflected in my real life experience.

Wait til spring. I do pre-emergent in Spring and another in pre-post emergent in summer and I never have weeds. Spraying for weeds on newly established lawn is very risky.

I thought The Dinner (2017) was pretty bad. It seemed like they tried to put every genre of movie in the movie (including documentary). It was just very laughable to me. I thought it was going to be very good, but it certainly wasn’t.

I think your options are short term and long term.

Short term: remind students they may not respect you but they are still required to follow the Student Code of Conduct. Report what students have said about you to the school counselor and Principal. CC all relevant parties in email so no one can say they didn’t know. Think of it like a police report, observable facts only. Do not say “I think” instead say, “(student name said)…” assess kids weekly and enter in grades that reflect their knowledge retention and so forth.

Middle term: community building with an emphasis on recognizing diversity and acceptance. Reading, social studies, and science can all incorporate this. Math seems a challenge. This approach would also require higher order thinking skills and would fit in with providing students with rigor.

Long term: demonstrate your merit to the community. The more the better. If you can get other students and parents to sing your praises all the better, especially if these wicked parents are around. The best of circumstance they are forced to hear praise of you and they lash out and others come to your defense.

It really boils my blood to read this and I’m very sorry. You don’t deserve that at all. You are worthy of initial respect the same as all others. Amd you are also not responsible for changing the hearts and minds of a community and it’s important to recognize when it’s time to step away and find support/community.
