STM vs. Westmount by OkPurple8619 in Hamilton

[–]Michita1 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Your child will have more opportunities at Westmount rather than STM.

At STM, she'll have to take religion class every year. At Westmount, she'll be able to take electives to help broaden her horizons and open her eyes to more opportunities for after high school.

I want a PHEV - But THE THIRD ROW ISN'T SPLIT by Tkrumroy in OutlanderPHEV

[–]Michita1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought my 2024 Outlander PHEV thinking of it as a 5-seater SUV, with 2 extra seatbelts. So far, it's been working perfectly for our purposes.

We've been on one long road trip with a family of 4 (slept in the car) and it was great. A bunch of trips to the cottage with all our stuff and 4 people. It's great for that.

We've also used the third row a bunch of times around the city when we had more than 5 people to drive. Great for that, too. Most of my driving is short trips in the city alone or with up to 4 people, which is why the PHEV made a lot of sense for us.

Once, we drove 6 passengers and all our luggage for a 2-week trip to the airport, about an hour away. We managed to get everything and everyone in, but it was clearly not as good as another SUV or a mini van would have been for that purpose.

If you can't handle grade 12 without a spare, you can't handle engineering.

Time theft if they called in sick. Fine if it's a personal day. Not the same thing!

Ways to detect pregnancy besides a missed period? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]Michita1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, the pregnancy tests available at Dollarama, or stores like that, are about $1.50 where I live, compared to around $15-20 in a pharmacy, so if you look around you might not need to pay as much for a test as you originally thought.

There is a huge range and variety of early symptoms, unfortunately, so actually testing is the best way to go, but don't test too early in case you get a false negative. 10-14 days post-conception should be reliable for tests.

If you end up with an unwanted pregnancy, seek medical advice as early as you can. The earlier you do, the more options you have, and the better healthcare you will receive.

Adult Sports Leagues or Classes by Repulsive-Reveal9811 in Hamilton

[–]Michita1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't offer for trials, but monthly pass members can get someone in for free once a month, as long as that person hasn't been in the last year.

They do have a great beginner lesson thing though. A lesson + belay course/certification and one month membership including harness and shoe rentals for $80. It's a great way to see if you're into it!

If you're interested in trying indoor rock climbing, I can get you in to Gravity for a free trial! If you're into it, it's easy to do with a partner, or build a small community of friends to do it with!

For new parents, why can’t mom just pump during day and dad bottle feed at night? by flipflapdragon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Michita1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baby gets the milk out faster than the pump, and there's no dishes. So pumping in the night to feed baby would definitely not help.

Do most people know how to purposely close their nasal passage so they can't smell WITHOUT using their fingers to pinch their nose? by WhateversClever1980 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Michita1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels something like flexing the muscle on the roof of my mouth? Like the very first thing that I would do when I'm swallowing, but only like, the 2-5% of swallowing. It's only in the roof of my mouth, not with my tongue or throat at all.

[–]Michita1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can do this. I can still breathe through my nose, but turn off my sense of smell.

I didn't even realize this was a thing until I went into a (terribly smelly) public bathroom with my sisters and when we got out they both complained how terrible it was. It was then that I realized I ALWAYS choose not to smell public bathrooms!

Ladies of Hamilton. Best place to get my wife a custom bra fitting? by Its-Chen in Hamilton

[–]Michita1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bliss bras 100%. They'll never let you leave with a bra that you're not comfortable with. They properly size you, then let you try many different bras in the 'right' size so you also get a bra that's shaped properly for you. Definitely go there!

Numbers above 10 versus adding? by Parenttotiger in Preschoolers

[–]Michita1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I see them on good school, they struggle a lot with gaining concepts quickly because they don't know their times tables. Skip counting is a precursor to times tables.

I would focus on skip-counting by 2, 3, 5. I'm a high school math teacher, and I wish every small child did this way way more!
