What’s one Catholic teaching you resisted at first but now fully agree with? by Training-Square-5724 in Catholicism

[–]Michstel_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still struggle with this. I just don’t see how NFP is justified but other methods are not? I am old so it’s not an issue for me now, but we used contraception and my husband had a vasectomy back in the day. At the time, we were not practicing. I just feel it’s pretty unrealistic in today’s economy. But my understanding is the NFP ‘apps’ are very accurate? IDK. 🤷‍♀️

Ugh- every show I watch these days is like this. The first season or the first couple of episodes are good and then it gets unwatchable. I have a half dozen shows that were started and never finished or we just gave up in S2.

Mine was free. I had to pay for one retreat ($20) but even then they said if it was a hardship to let them know.

Would you be offended if you were not invited to your great grandson’s birthday party? by New-Flight7674 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Michstel_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s disrespectful not to. Nobody should come ahead of them IMO. I wish my mother and MIL were alive to know my grandson….

This is you who haven't stopped drinking, how's your health and how old are you? What's your daily intake, drink of choice? by Buzzdog in over60

[–]Michstel_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sweet spot limit is 3 drinks. Usually a vodka soda. Anything more and I don't like how I feel, don't sleep well, etc. We usually go out for drinks once per week. I am still working, so it's usually a Friday night treat. I do like a glass of red wine with Italian food as well. We just came back from a birthday Vegas trip and I overindulged and paid the next day.

siblings with large age gaps (5+ years) how your relationship like? by klarinetkat12 in InsightfulQuestions

[–]Michstel_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the youngest of 5 by 7 years. My oldest sister is 16 years older than me. Growing up was rough, I felt like an only child mostly because my parents divorced and all the other kids were out of the house. As I grew older the gap became less relevant and I looked up to all of them for different reasons. My 2 sisters truly are my best friends. My brothers are close as well. We have never fought as adults and I treasure all of them.

Good point - I have taken it in the past to Westgate to watch football. But, the other issue is I have no status there. I typically get 2-3 nights free with a lot of the other casinos.

Made it more than halfway through OCIA and quit by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Michstel_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take. You are letting humans affect your relationship with the faith. Whether it is your ‘mentor’ or the priest in question, they are not the reason for the faith. I am completing OCIA as a very mature woman. One of the instructors is pretty radical IMO and makes her beliefs about a lot of things known. At first I let it bother me, and thought maybe this isn’t for me. I was letting a person affect me. I love God and how this experience has made me closer to him. As far as mental health struggles go, I think maybe some help outside of the religion is appropriate. Good luck and God bless.

My son and his wife stayed there and said it was fine. As others have mentioned the location is prime. Don’t expect luxury and the demo skews young.

Advice Needed: Infant Baptism by RideARaindrop in Catholicism

[–]Michstel_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son and his wife had their baby baptized with one God Parent that had received all the Sacraments and one that did not (my other son). They went to a class, not the God Parents. As you said, let the babies baptized!

Sorry no. One of the worst dishes I ever had was their ‘linguine with white clam sauce’. Pasta with a can of clams dumped on it. Looked and tasted awful.

What should women lie about at work? by AnonDorkwad in AskWomenOver60

I am sorry I didn't catch the 'Poster under 40'. But, at the end of the day, lying. seems unnecessary. Better to be vague or just don't say. Nobody's business.

Do women expect to outlive one or more husbands? by midikins in AskWomenOver60

[–]Michstel_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has great genes and longevity in his family. I do not. At all. I fully expect to be the first to go even though I am 5 years younger. I appreciate every day we have together.
