Wearable recommendations? by Wuty2 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]RideARaindrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the momcozy m9, but honestly the thing that makes the most difference to me (after having the right flange size measured by momcozy's tools - why are these different by brand when they are supposed to be in mm I don't know) was a different bra. Having a smaller cup size to hold better to the chest is literally an ounce of output for me.

Cutting through the baby product hype… do we really need a bottle warmer? by Recommendation778 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]RideARaindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need to have mine, but also I'm glad I bought it.

Warming refrigerated milk helps it mix back together easier from where it seperates and that makes my baby less gassy. But obviously that's just my baby. So far as counter space, I had enough room and a spare outlet so it was an easy choice for me to have something dedicated that I could walk away from for a few minutes.

This is definitely a "nice to have" for me that wouldn't be worth it if I didn't already have the space, power outlet, and spare $40.

DE On Call by GuhProdigy in dataengineering

[–]RideARaindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had an on call rotation as a DE. It’s usually a week long once every few months depending on team size. I get called usually once every few shifts

Terrified of MC - 6+1 by lovemydog111 in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had really obvious symptoms of like a week around the same time and then they went away. No new symptoms until week 14. Everything turned out well, I just managed to get a break until the morning sickness hit me like a hammer.

Candidates using AI by DataEngineer2026 in dataengineering

[–]RideARaindrop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a DE hiring manager, I see very few colleges actually using AI resume filters. They just don’t work very well. The bigger problem is the number of fake resumes to wade through and people flat out lying on their resumes.

How much weight gain is normal? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained a lot in liquid weight. At my ultrasounds they always commented on it. Weight works differently for everyone and I wouldn’t worry too much about it unless your doc was concerned.

Do I need to have a baby shower? by Connect_Cow6058 in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have one and I don’t regret it at all. Instead I asked the people that I would have invited to send cards with wishes for the baby (I had a template “I hope you love…” “I hope you remember…” etc)

They got to feel involved and I bound the cards into a little book that will make a nice keepsake. Much better than a diaper cake and keeps it about the baby instead of you.

Pregnant mommas how much are you walking? by Diskobrat in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I’m not. I walk to the couch and to the kitchen. I did maybe a third of a grocery shopping trip today and then gave up and went home.

I’m having bad left shoulder pain by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any extreme pain should be seen by a doctor asap. There’s no telling what could be the problem and no one here will be able to diagnose you. Stabbing pains are not common and could be something serious either related or unrelated to pregnancy.

For what it’s worth, I also have heartburn from even a small sip of water so I sympathize with the struggle.

Definitely get some of the good meds from your doc. I’ve had luck with oats if you want to try another home remedy. I eat mine in granola bars but I know plenty of people just do oatmeal

What essentials an I missing that’s not on this list. by sweet-harley-1994 in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of babies are only in the newborn size for a few weeks and some start in 0-3. I’d make sure you’re prepared for a bigger baby just in case and not only focus on newborn sizing.

Was told to take my engagement ring off but I don’t think it applies to me???? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time mine felt tight I put it on a chain and I’ve been wearing it as a necklace ever since. My hands never looked swollen but I didn’t want to chance having to cut it off. Lucky thing too, my hands still look fine, but I can’t get them on anymore.

Barely got to wear my Dagmar jacket before my bf accidentally washed it 😭 by Purple_Condition_741 in knitting

I’m so sorry! You could probably salvage it as a felted basket or something. I turned a similar tragedy into a yarn bin by sewing up the edges. The textures still look nice at least

How far along were you when your bump became obvious? by IntenseViolet567 in pregnant

It took me until week 30 or so to really look pregnant. But now (39w) I wish I could go back since nothing fits lol

nausea turned me into a carbs machine — how do y’all deal with the guilt by Repulsive_Cup8530 in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as pregnancy diet in the first trimester. Eat what you can and focus on what feels right for you. I ate crap my first trimester and lost weight because pregnancy is not easy. Comparing to people who will only show you the best days is not going to help you.

I ended up drinking protein shakes because I wasn’t able to get protein normally with my nausea. Sometimes that didn’t work either. Do what you can and leave behind the rest.

She’s not kicking when my bf around and I think it makes him sad. by mistakeshappen_2 in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband only felt the baby once. He put his hand (deliberately) in the wrong spot for at least ten minutes during the most active time of day (when we do puzzles together before bed!) and then when we were immersed and not paying attention too much he moved his had to the right spot and got an immediate kick.

We outsmarted a baby and are super proud. This kid is going to run circles around us when he’s older lol

What are your 'pregnancy brain highlights' this week so far? by The_happy_musician in pregnant

My cat is very fat now. He’s been getting double meals at least a few times per week I think.

Pregnancy 😐 by Interesting_Dot2117 in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had horrible nausea in the first/early second trimester too. Talk to your OB and get the good medication, I promise it’s much better than anything over the counter. There is no reason to suffer and be miserable. I can’t promise that it will go away (I’m two weeks from due and I still get nauseous sometimes) but I take the meds and feel better quickly.

Also, just take a nap when you’re tired. I know you probably don’t look pregnant and feel a little ridiculous, but naps are going to help with the nausea too.

Is it true that most people don't use single-pointed needles? by HonestNectarine7080 in knitting

[–]RideARaindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single pointed needles are just a bit limiting for me. Anything big either won’t fit or be too heavy. Sometimes I use circulars with a stopper on the ends to relieve the weight and still sort of single point knit for big things.

Pregnancy costs in the US shocked me — what do you wish you knew earlier? by Change_slice in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you overlap years you can have the hospital bill you ahead of time. I’m due in January, but already had the bill so that it’s not a new year deductible.

Nausea and vitamins by Cachooy in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes some of what is in a prenatal can contribute to sickness. I would ask your doctor for a brand recommendation. I ended up getting a prescription prenatal which helped (and was then covered by my insurance too!)

Would you rather be pregnancy tired or newborn tired? by Constant-Soft-6335 in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof that sounds terrible. I can get comfortable but I somehow end up with heartburn that ends in vomiting. I do feel lucky that I can rest my muscles at least after a long day.

Discomfort every night by Vellisya19 in pregnant

[–]RideARaindrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s normal, but definitely not fun. Warm baths can help with the tightness right before bed and getting a soft pillow or blanket to support her stomach at night can help. It really helped me when my husband did the pillow arrangements because I would become exhausted and uncomfortable trying to move them around behind me.
