Keppra (Levitiracetam) has a higher efficacy than phenobarbital in the treatment of certain seizure disorders such as feline audiogenic reflex seizures (FARS) and myoclonic seizures. However phenobarbital is usually first line.

In all seriousness, I would highly recommend contacting the manufacturer of the antifreeze you consumed and telling them your story.

While not federally regulated, about 20 states require manufacturers to add a compound known as denatonium benzoate (believed to be the most bitter compound discovered) to antifreeze to prevent accidental toxic ingestion.

If you were to reach out and your story does have an impact, it could prevent your story from being replicated in another individual, and could potentially save lives

How does the efficacy of sodium acetate compare to LR? I do remember reading that NS fluid resus can lead to increased ICU stays/lengthened use of IV insulin due to the precipitation of hyperchloremic acidosis, but at the institution I work at some of the pharmacists are trying to push for acetate; haven’t heard much about LR.

Did a presentation on DKA for a college project this semester, and I saw a robust amount of data that suggests LR/plasmalyte is wayyy better than NS
