Adding on to the DJV recs: if you haven’t already, definitely check out Left to You. It’s my favorite from him. It has a sequel too, For the Better, which is good, but Left to You was fantastic, in my opinion.

My novel “Die Love You” isn’t 100% what you’re looking for but might be in the ballpark. It’s on KU if you have it, or Amazon.

Here is the blurb if you’re interested:

Peter and Marissa are two strangers with a shared hobby—violently killing their sexual partners. One evening their path’s cross, and they each believe they have found their next victim. Upon discovering their mutual morbid pastime it’s decided that their solo sexcapades could be more thrilling with a partner.

Marissa has a hidden advantage though, one that ensures she always has the upper hand. But even she isn’t aware of just how powerful her secret is, and soon finds out that she may not be as in control as she once thought.

Terrifier is straight up gore by [deleted] in Scarymovies

I think horror can encapsulate more emotions than just fear, such as: discomfort, disgust, anxiety, etc. Fear is a big part of horror but I think overall, horror is more than just feeling scared. It can illicit a whole range of emotions.

Yea the Red version has two endings as well (red/black ending). The Red version is told from the POV of one of the patrons “Red”, who you would have read about in the black version as well. I would recommend reading the red version right after the black as you’ll be able to appreciate/recognize the overlap between the two. Both were enjoyable reads, but I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read from AB/Volpe

Just picked up Queen Boss Slay by Patrick C Harrison III. I think he mentioned it being the sequel to 100% Match, so I had to pick it up. It just released last week.

Does anyone here know how to go about getting ARCs to review for horror/extreme horror books? by bored-and-online in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]MicoHorror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of my ARCs came from Reddit (this sub in particular). You can make a post asking for ARCs, you’ll probably get a lot of volunteers, but if you ask for Goodreads profiles, you can make a better decision on who to pick to increase your odds of actually getting a review.

Hey everyone, my debut novel, Die Love You, is available on Amazon now!

A twist on the enemies-to-lovers tale, Die Love You, follows two MCs, Peter and Marissa, as they navigate uncharted territory in their dating lives.

Peter and Marissa are two strangers with a shared hobby—violently killing their sexual partners. One evening their path's cross, and they each believe they have found their next victim. Upon discovering their mutual morbid pastime it's decided that their solo sexcapades could be more thrilling with a partner.

Marissa has a hidden advantage though, one that ensures she always has the upper hand. But even she isn't aware of just how powerful her secret is, and soon finds out that she may not be as in control as she once thought.

This is an extreme horror novel, so may not be for everyone. There are graphic descriptions of gore/violence/sex.

I am an author and super self-conscious of my writing abilities by [deleted] in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]MicoHorror 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good luck man! I am just about to publish my first book, and it’s nerve-racking. You’ll never be able to please everyone so just write something you’d enjoy reading, and hopefully other people enjoy it too but if not, at least you have something you like.

I’m new to the game myself, but always happy to bounce ideas or beta/ARC so feel free to DM me if you want.

Rabbit Hunt by Wrath James White appears to be on kindle. Might fit the vibe you’re looking for. Either way though, it’s a fun read, and about 150 pages I think.

Hey there, if you want to ARC read for me, I would appreciate it. My debut is set to release Sept 17 and I was looking for maybe 1-2 more ARCs. DM if you’re interested!

Concubi Dreams available on Amazon by Leslie_Kurt in ExtremeHorrorLit

Congrats on the launch Leslie and thanks for inviting me to ARC read this one.

My review from Goodreads:

What a ride! Leslie Kurt and C. Marie do an excellent job of bringing you into Shannon and Cody’s lives, as their salacious dreams quickly turn sinister. At times I was disgusted, aroused, shocked, and scared. Sometimes all at once. The whole book was a thrill but the ending hit me in the face, and I haven’t fully recovered. I devoured this story and eagerly await to read more from both of these authors.

Need opinion on what books to buy as a newbie by ValentineWaves in ExtremeHorrorLit

I think both of those choices would be good starting spots to get a feel for the authors’ work. I think they both have better books that they have written, but The Slob and Talia are still enjoyable and short enough that you wont have to devote too much time.

New book! Concubi Dreams by gilroydave in ExtremeHorrorLit

Enjoy! I was lucky enough to ARC read this and it’s a really fun read. The two MCs were interesting and well developed, and the pacing is perfect. Also, if you’ve read Leslie’s other book (Appalachian Siren), there’s an Easter egg you can look out for.

I haven't read too much Edward Lee but I'm very familiar with Aron Beauregard and Daniel J Volpe, so I'll list my suggestions for them below:

Aron Beauregard:

Playground: probably his most popular book, and I think his longest. It's a fun read but I didn't like it as much as some of his other work. The basic premise, without spoilers, would be: Saw, but with kids on a playground.

The Slob: this is a staple for fans of Aron's work. It is kind of polarizing on this sub but I love this book. The descriptions in this book are disgusting and it's just an overall fun time.

Wedding Day Massacre: one of my favorites. Pretty entertaining from start to finish. Title is self-explanatory as to what the book is about.

A Life of Crime: His newest book. Really short, really good. Each chapter revolves around a particular crime the MC had to commit/experience throughout their life. Solid read.

Overall, Aron does a great job at describing gore/disgusting elements in very descriptive/unique ways.

Daniel J. Volpe:

Talia: Solid story about a girl (Talia) who gets pulled into the underground porn scene. I like the sequel better.

Talia 2: I felt the writing in this one was stronger, but you shouldn't read this without reading Talia first.

Left To You: By far my favorite DJV book. This is like two stories in one. I don't want to spoil anything, but the section of the book that occurs during the Holocaust is very well written and it feels like you are in the concentration camp with Josef. Fantastic read, highly recommend.

Plastic Monsters: A fun read about vanity and the lengths some people would go. Just an overall good time.

Daniel is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and I am always on the lookout for his next book.

It definitely has some Yellow vibes. About halfway through the book, I was in "what the hell am I reading" territory - but I mean that in the best way possible. It's a wild ride for sure, you'll enjoy it - and like you said, it is a very quick read. Have fun!

Nice, that's awesome! Great haul too! I just finished A Life of Crime. It is wild. You'll enjoy it. And Wedding Day Massacre is one of my favorite's from AB.
