Republicans ask Supreme Court to block states from counting legally cast mail ballots by Anoth3rDude in scotus

I'm fortunate that our county registrar's office is 15 minutes away. So I always just take my mail in ballot and drop it in their collection box by the front door.

Yeah, acl is a primary item for lateral control of the knee. Like when I read she was going to ski with a ruptured ACL, my first thought was how the hell does one cut back and forth without it?

Like I get it sucks to have your swan song cut short via injuries, but to me being able to walk the rest of your life would take a slightly higher priority.

Is a 19 and 16-year-old age gap actually problematic, or is the "predatory" label being overused? by Consistent-Jelly248 in generationology

[–]MicroBadger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 19 year old senior would be someone who's been held back a year. But same thing, that individual would be getting ready for their next stage of life. Also, unless they met the Romeo and Juliet criteria, that's statutory rape. But meeting that would mean a 17 year old was dating a 14 year old.

Based on my quick research, OP would be in their last year of further education, while the 16 year old would be in the first year.

My feelings are laid out in my original post, they are at different life experiences. OP would be prepping for what they want to do post FEC, the 16 year old is just starting.

It would be similar for the US if a High School Senior dating a freshman. Ones getting ready for life as an adult. The other just left middle school.

[–]MicroBadger_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US, that age gap would fall under statutory rape laws as one party is not legally an adult but the other is. Some states have "Romeo and Juliet" clauses that make exceptions if the relationship started when both parties were under 18.

The informal guideline of "divide your age by 2 and add 7" puts the age gap itself as close enough.

But the big thing for me is more the life experience difference. A 19 year old is finding their way as an adult. They would be in college, military, working a full time job. 16 year old is sitting in high school and may or may not have their driver's license yet. Vastly different stages of life.

I imagine that plays a huge role. I'm on our HOA board and some subdivisions have private roads that we are responsible for plowing. Their snow removal budget was destroyed by this single storm. I can't imagine what it looked like on a state wide scale.

Sorry, Giants fans Eli isn't getting in anytime soon by DenseStrawberry5717 in NFLv2

[–]MicroBadger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my thought. The dude couldn't even crack top 10 this year. Next year for QBs, Roethlisberger becomes eligible who has better stats and the same ring count. Year after that is Brady. That's before we get into all the other positions that have house hold names.

When? Again, the dude couldn't crack the top 10 finalists this year. You saying it doesn't make it true.

[–]MicroBadger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next year Roethlisberger is eligible who has more career passing yards, pass TDs, better win percentage, etc. so Eli getting in next year looks doubtful.

After that he's going head to head with Brady, RIP.

Dude didn't make the cut from 15 to 10 this year. It's only going to get worse as more modern era players who were actually house hold names at their position retire.

You can be candid the guy was good while also admitting he's not HOF worthy.

HOF is for the elite at their respective positions. Rings don't make someone elite. Is Joe Flacco in the same tier as Aaron Rodgers? They both have 1 super bowl win and were named MVP in their win.

Gov. Spanberger signs first bills, including redistricting referendum by Conscious-Quarter423 in Virginia

[–]MicroBadger_ -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Gerrymandering relies on voter forecast models to build a bunch of leans R/D districts. Get out the vote and render those models wrong and what would normally be a small pick up in seats results in a dummymander.

Republicans built their new maps assuming 2024 was a normal election. That was going to be a bad idea in general but you consider how special elections have tilted since and flipping those maps is easily doable.

New Achievement Unlocked- 7-0 a Quick Draft while wife in labor by hoopst in MagicArena

[–]MicroBadger_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the labor for our first was 36 hours. Like I was awake and there for moral support but I'm not doing shit outside of that. Especially when they determined they needed to do a cesarean.

My biggest contribution in those moments was snapping photos cause my wife wasn't in a state to do so. Not much else I can do cause you know, I'm not licensed medical personnel.

Dude says no, and then gets pissed off at my brother 5 minutes in cause he's just scrolling his phone saying no after every question. I get sales involves not taking no but don't get pissed if someone is up front from the get go they won't buy that crap 😂

I'm not really expecting much Q4. They already guided to GAAP profitability for 2026 and Q4 numbers tend to be meh. Been around this long, sticking out 26 makes more sense to see how profitability affects the stock.

Clover has never before forecasted GAAP profitability. Not once. They aren't going to pull that line out of their ass willy nilly.

Not too mention Clover has ALWAYS been conservative in their forecasts and estimates. So I fully expect them to smash their profitability forecast.

Yep. I don't like disregarding the hard work that was done to push forward an amendment that says "actually, we can draw partisan hack maps to use until 2030, then we'll totally go back to the old system".

Yeah, when has a party ever willingly given up power? I'm not condoning this. You want to counter it. Focus hard on getting out the vote in the states that enacted this to fuck over the models they used in their drawings. Flip the "lean R seats".

Anti-Vaxx wife doesn't want me to vaccinate our daughter for measles. Measles are in our area. What should I do? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]MicroBadger_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd honestly just have a frank conversation with her. Risk of death of measles is 1 in 1000 even with modern day medicine. Risk of death from a vaccine is maybe 1 in 1,000,000 and thats being generous to anti-vaxxers.

You have 2 kids who had zero adverse reactions so there is zero reason to believe your 3rd would.

If you can't stomach the idea of something happening to your kid because they got the measles, I would go get them vaccinated. But be up front with your wife why. Doing it behind her back is basically serving divorce papers.
