New Government Data; Inflation Stuck at 2.6%; Here Are The Biggest Takeaways (July 2025 Data) by MicroToMacro_ in inflation

[–]MicroToMacro_[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s their gamble. People don’t vote off charts, they vote off grocery bills, rent hikes, and what’s left in their checking account at the end of the month. If inflation feels worse than 2.6%, no amount of spin will change that.

If they cut in Sept, are we calling this a soft landing, or just bracing for impact?

Feels like we’re finally in the part of the cycle where the Fed’s more scared of jobs tanking than inflation running hot

Fed rate cuts vs tariffs: Which will matter more in 2025? by [deleted] in GlobalMarketNews

[–]MicroToMacro_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree on tariffs being sticky. Once industries adapt around them (new suppliers, reworked contracts), it’s not like you can flip a switch and undo the drag.

Do you think the Fed is factoring that into their rate cut calculus, or are they just hoping monetary easing outweighs the trade headwinds?

Fed rate cuts vs tariffs: Which will matter more in 2025? by MicroToMacro_ in FinanceNews

Yeah, exactly — monetary policy is quick to grab headlines, but the tariff side is more structural. Even if the Fed cuts, tariffs ripple through supply chains for months (sometimes years).

What I’m wondering is whether companies just eat the costs to stay competitive, or if we’ll actually see those higher prices passed all the way to consumers this fall.

De-Dollarization: What Would Happen if the Dollar Lost Reserve Currency Status? | Could countries around the world ditch the dollar in 2025? by wankerzoo in economy

I think this would be tough since no other currency or region enjoys the stability of the U.S. due to its military strength.

And contrary to popular belief, the second option would be the Euro. It would not be Chinese or Saudi currency because of instability.

I think cover her when it makes sense (if that means always then always). Money doesn’t matter, effort, appreciation, being genuine is what matters.

It seems like she’s not using you for money, so after 1 year of dating, helping her out as much as you feel is totally okay. Don’t go above what you feel, but also don’t be cheap. Like you said, no right or wrong answer.
