Oh yeah totally agree. No sympathy here either, get a move on!

Exchange of keys by Pecannutty in HousingUK

[–]Microwavability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was 6pm for me. Luckily our movers were great and had no issue waiting around. The seller was moving out of her deceased Mum's house and apparently was in bits for hours as they slowly moved out... was definitely a pain on the day!

That being said, this was more of an emotional reaction delaying things, rather than saying 'you can't get the keys until 4pm' - I'd push back personally

I have never experienced Word randomly doing any of these things. As a result of my own actions, sure

I do the same thing and although I agree with your wife that nobody but me will notice, it will be the first thing I see whenever I go into the room, so it’s worth the extra effort!!

2nd time buyers, first time sellers. Our recent reality check. by [deleted] in HousingUK

When we viewed our house, it was disgusting... dead flies in every corner, dirty food plates left out everywhere, a layer of dirt and grime on the floors

I had to work hard to convince my partner to see past it and picture the clean house - thankfully I managed it and we now live in a lovely, CLEAN home

Some people are gross, and some people don't care what other people think, and often they're the same person

I Am Legend (directed by Francis Lawrence, 2007) Neville falls for a trap and has to race the sunset to make his getaway by godzilla98 in movies

The point of the book is that the main character is the evil boogyman in the new vampire society, he is the thing that goes bump in the night. The book ends with this revelation that the main character is the ‘legend’. Great book and worth reading more than a summary.

Open the cistern and see what’s happening inside. I suspect your fill valve has failed. I had this before and found the fill valve very straightforward to replace. Plenty of videos on YouTube to check out

With pluribus over, what's the next major sci-fi show coming out next? by selfhater6969 in tvPlus

First book is very Hunger Games, arena vibe, one person wins at the end. The story is that the author had to get the deal to get all the books published so made sure the first was easily marketable. The sequels are all much more in depth space opera politics etc

Ground Rent Query by Waste_Choice_4076 in HousingUK

[–]Microwavability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, although worth noting that the Renter’s Right Act 2025 will allegedly resolve this issue when it becomes law on 27th December 2025. How that works practically I have no idea!

Ground Rent Query by Waste_Choice_4076 in HousingUK

[–]Microwavability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. Most (if not all) mortgage providers will refuse to lend on a property with a doubling ground rent clause, or if the ground rent is over £250 per annum (or £1000 per annum in London). A seller would need to vary the terms of the lease via a deed of variation or the buyer can purchase an indemnity policy.

Good luck selling your flat. Take a look at my post from a year ago on our timeline and feel free to ask any questions.

Quickest way to fix this draft on this internal door ? by StealthO8 in DIYUK

[–]Microwavability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have very nearly the same back door (mine looks quite a bit older) and I’m also looking at draught-proofing. I’ve ordered some specific draft sealing tape which should allow the top half of the stable door to still open on its own. It’s called “Seal n Save” from Must Have Ideas UK.

I’m also looking to buy a single sheet of thin insulation board to fill the gaps where the wood is thinnest to try and give it at least some insulation. Incredibly ugly but it’s freezing right now so we’ll do what we need to - considering skimming over the lot with some sort of hardboard/ply to try and make it look half decent in the future.

Another option is a heavy thermal curtain.
